Reviewed by Ana: The blurb says "Love or duty-Which would you chose?" It makes it sound so interesting. Prince Severin purchases Havyn from slavery to set him free, but ends up falling in love with him, on the journey back to his kingdom. When he gets home the prince finds out that he has to do his duty to his country and marry a princess from another kingdom, so that they can have peace between the two kingdoms. The Chosen is a classic fantasy novel but without the epic length. Included are long journeys, prophesies, royalty, magic, oracles, wars at stake, forbidden love, runaway elopements, long lost princes, lengthy quests, true love, and a happy ending. Why I don't give it more:
- the main characters are completely bland (very clasical seme/uke with very little more to them)

This is a very sweet love story set in a fantasy world.
The little details and world-building are done very nicely.
I will look for some more of Annette Gisby's work in future.

Strange story, a bit unclear for me. I didn't really like this plot. The emotions were bland, I couldn't feel them.
