4 1/2 Stars! ~ In mere moments a rash decision made by an eager to prove herself firefighter, tore apart her family and left her fire chief father in a wheelchair. There was nothing left in Horizon Beach for Randi except pain and accusation, and her own tremendous guilt, so she fled. It's now almost three years later, and she's made a name for herself as a leading arson investigator for the state. And it's arson that brings her back home. Firefighters live life with extremes with life and death hitting them on a regular basis. So this makes for lots of good stories to tell about firefighters and their families.
Randi Cooke is in a family of firefighters, with her father and grandfather as the retired chefs and presently four brothers in the force. She has a history with fire where she left her hometown to escape after making mistakes three years ago when she was just starting out in the fire department.

I'm normally not a reader of contemporaries or categories, but I loved A Firefighter in the Family. It had it all: a fallen-from-grace heroine trying to reclaim her life, a hero with a lot of history and something to prove, family drama, high-stakes, and a mystery tying them all together.

I felt for Randi. From page one it's clear she's a woman who owns her past mistakes and wants to move forward, but strained family ties and hurt feelings keep her from making amends. I also liked the hero, Zac,

Trish has written a great story...with tension and fabulous plot points. Trish was one of the first women I met at MCRW...and is just a fabulous in person as she is in print. I would recommend her books to anyone!
