What do you get when five great authors come together to create a paranormal prom anthology? In a word - greatness!
Meg Cabot starts off the collection with THE EXTERMINATOR'S DAUGHTER. When Mary shows up at Swig, an exclusive VIP club in Manhattan, it's not to socialize. No, she's on a mission to take out Sebastian Drake -- and by take out, I mean kill him with a crossbow. But when Adam, a fellow student at Saint Eligius, takes his own potshots at the ...more

This collection of short stories are all about high school aged kids and include a prom. They all have some kind of supernatural character or theme too. Some were great, some were okay, one was pretty bad.
Stephanie Meyer's Hell on Earth was the best, about a demon trying to spread chaos and steal happiness. The evil point of view was very interesting to me - it was as if she wrote it from a gospel perspective, then went back and substituted the opposite word everywhere. I thought ...more

When I heard that two of my favorite authors--Meg Cabot and Stephenie Meyer--each had entries in this compilation, I couldn't wait to get my hands on it.
I think I enjoyed "Kiss and Tell" the most though I had never read a book by this author before, and I found Meyer's story a little abrupt, leaving me with too many unanswered questions at the end. I must admit, though some of the stories were just a little too weird for my taste (and weird kind of is my taste), I liked the feel o...more

I picked it up because I thought it was going to have a story about Kim Harrison's Rachael that she'd said would "explain why she is the way it is." Apparently I was confusing it with the forthcoming Holidays are Hell. Her story in Prom Nights was okay, though I was surprised to hear that apparently it's going to be turned into a series. It's kind of interesting but mostly ...more

Different sets of short stories written by great authors. There are various short stories all based on teenagers prom nights not turning out to be "perfect" as they expect them to. All the protagonists in each short story encounters upon some sort of obstacle during their prom night.

Five short stories, each from a different YA author, about the supernatural and prom.
I really liked Meg Cabot's "The Exterminator's Daughter," with its Buffy-esque throwbacks, and Michele Jaffe's "Kiss and Tell."
I wanted to like "The Corsage" by Lauren Myracle a lot more, since it's a retelling of the creepy "The Money's Paw" (a perfect story for a stormy night) ... And I would have liked some more closure with Kim Harrison's "Madison Avery an...more

This was so bad that I didn’t finish it. It is a set of 5 short stories on the theme that Prom Night is Hell. Cabot’s offering is a watered-down Buffy-type story in which the daughter of a demon Eliminator is now stalking a vampire at prom. I was totally turned off when she was rescued by a handsome jock. The second story is a reworking of the “Monkey’s Paw” horror story. I skimmed the rest, though I tried to read Stephenie Meyer’s story, which seemed to be about an ancient evil...more

This is a young adult collection of paranormal short stories about bad proms. If you are over 14 years old, this book is not worth your time. I bought it because it has a Stephanie Meyer's short story in it, and I loved Twilight so much, I had to give it a try. The Meg Cabot story about a Buffy-type vampire slayer was pretty good, and the Meyer's story had an interesting twist at the end and some good character development, but the other three were not particularly good in my opinion. At least i...more

The first story in this collection is "The Exterminator's Daughter" by Meg Cabot, and it is by far the best one. It's very Buffy-esque, about the teenage daughter of a vampire "exterminator" trying to take revenge and save her mother and the boy who ends up helping her out (and of course falling for her, too). It's witty and has good descriptions, and while not the most original thing in the world it is definitely fun.

Prom Nights from Hell is a book with 5 short stories by Meg Cabot, Kim Harrison, Michele Jaffe, Stephenie Meyer, and Lauren Myraole. One of the stories by Stephenie Meyer is about angels, vampires, people who cause distraction. A boy name Gabe was like a angel who's gaze and aura was good that none of the evil things the vampires did it had no effect on him.

These collection of short stories just weren't my style, I guess. Some were better than others.
Meg Cabot--The Exterminator's Daughter. Vampire story--Good romance going in this one.
Lauren Myracle--The Corsage. My least favorite--too gory for me.
Kim Harrison--Madison Avery and the Dim Reaper. Good premise for a longer story.
Michele Jaffe--Kiss and Tell. Fun and witty. Smart heroine in superhero form.

Being the Stephenie Meyer junkie I recently am, I read her story first - and while it wasn't up there with Twilight, it was still a decent short story.
All of the short stories follow the same recipe - it's prom and something passing strange is going on. My favorite story in the collection is the one by Lauren Myracle - a tale based on the Monkey Paw legend. I also enjoyed Meg Cabot's story about a vampire slayer very amusing.

So this sounds like a horrible title. And those that know me will wonder...why are you reading that book. Well, Stephenie Meyer wrote a short story for this book. And so my husband bought it for me for Christmas knowing how much I enjoy Stephenie Meyer's books! It was a fun little read. I enjoyed reading something else of Stephenie's while I wait for The Host and Breaking Dawn to come out this year...
I haven't read the other short stories yet...we'll see if I get to them.

5 short stories by some of my favorite YA authors...Meg Cabot, Stephenie Myers, Lauren Myracle...and then two others I hadn't heard of but enjoyed: Kim Harrison and Michele Jaffe. All the stories were great, but I think I enjoyed Stephenie Myers' story best: Hell on Earth, which is about a demon who is trying to destroy a prom by manipulating people through mind control. She's ultimately thwarted by a nice boy at prom with special powers of his own... very fun book.

This book was all right. A lot of the stories disappointed me though. I thought these authors would have amazing short stories, but the truth was, most of them sucked. There's 5 different stories about separate characters and prom nights! The 5 different stories make up this whole book! Some of the authors include Meg Cabot, Lauren Myracle, Kim Harrison, Michelle Jaffe, and Stephenie Meyer! My favorite story was Kiss and Tell by Kim Harrison.

Prom Nights From Hell features short stories from five great authors.
The Exterminator's Daughter by Meg Cabot was decent.
The Corsage by Lauren Myracle sucked.
Madison Avery and the Dim Reaper was- eh.
Kiss and Tell by Michele Jaffe was pretty enjoyable.
Hell on Earth by Stephenie Meyer was good. (I don't think SM can write anything that's horrible).

So far, I've read the first story and thought it pretty stupid. Honestly, it reminded me of something I wrote back in my 6th grade creative writing class!
Is this for real?? Was Meg Cabot's story really published?? It was just so... dumb.
I will probably go on to read the rest of the book... but my expectations are very low at this point. Very low.

I got it because of stephanie's story in it. It was mini in between reading which was nice so i did not have to rush to the book store right away to satisfy my need for new reading material. I would simply pull out the book, read a single story that day then the next day hit the library for a full sized novel... or three in my case.
