Million Dollar Mates is the first book I've ever read from Cathy Hopkins, (yes, I know that's pretty bad of me!) and to be honest, I wasn't expecting too much from this. I thought it would be a light read for the weekend. Just glancing at the pink, sparkly front cover suggested a flighty read filled with a load of girly talk and expensive clothes etc.
While it did indeed include this, it was also a lot deeper and meaningful that I had anticipated. Cathy Hopkins surprised me by tackling the loss...more

Incluso mantiene un secret...more

From the front cover of this it's easy to presume it's just a little girly book about nothing of importance. To some extents this is true; there are dilemmas about clothes and the usual boy drama. However,Cathy Hopkins sort of makes you get really involved with the boy drama, and deciding who is right. But, other than this, there are issues arisen that you wouldn't expect from the average book aimed at teenage girls. Things such as losing things close to you and dealing with not being liked and...more

Est...more

Since passing my collection of 'Mates, Dates' books and a few of my copies of 'Truth, Dare, Kiss, Promise' to others, I have read very little Cathy Hopkins. When I picked up this book in the library yesterday, I expected very little from it. I thought it would be a light book for a Saturday evening read.
I was pleasantly surprised by the moral running throughout--money can't buy you happiness. Hopkins writes very well, with a clear perception of how hard it can be to live the life of a teenage gi...more

I loved this! It's about a teenage girl who's mum passed away and therefore has to move to 'posh ville', which she is not happy about. She finds herself humiliating herself I front of an a list family with a gorgeous son!

En definitiva...more

It was not as good as I expected. It was a light read, nothing very new.

Got this for my friend's daughter and have to confess began to read it to check it out and got engrossed! I loved it and think it will appeal to all ages. Quirky and fun, while at the same time covering some pretty serious topics. What is especially good though is the way that the underlying serious issues are treated. Not heavy duty, or weighed down by moralistic lectures but nicely resolved in a perfect use of show don't tell. A great read for girls of all ages!

at first i actually thought this book was rubbish, to be frank. but, after the first maybe three dull, typical teenage book chapters, it was actually alright! i admit, i thought it was a bit annoying, because the general theme was that if you want to do anything in life you have to look amazing and buy the right stuff. i hate it when people think that. but apart from this, i thought it was really good, and i got really into it after a while.

Million Dollar Mates is an easy, light and entertaining read about a teenage girl who finds herself living next door to fame. Cathy Hopkins puts herself into this girl’s shoes and manages to capture the teenager’s voice with a clear perception of her world. It’s cute, sweet, sad and funny, and in the end the message gets through to the reader – money can’t buy you happiness.

AWESOME!!!!! This is the first one, followed by Million Dollar Mates: Paparazzi Princess, and Million Dollar Mates: Catwalk Queen is out soon I think. About a girl who moves into a block of luxurious apartments that her dad is managing. It is funny how she has to put up with the rich snobs who live there and the difference between her and them.

I just loved reading this book and all the others in this collection. Jess hall moves to fabulous new London apartment where all the a-isters will be living to! It's a teenage book full of friendship, relationships, press and how to deal with all the a-listers. A must read! Well worthy of 5 stars!

Good got better and better as the book went on
