Recommends it for: fans of classic D&D
Over time, as I prepare for an Edition 3.5 D&D campaign in which I run five Player Characters through Wizards of the Coast's "canned" 3rd Edition adventures, I've been re-reading them. I had remembered James Wyatt's The Speaker in Dreams: An Adventure for 5th-Level Characters as one of the better adventures, and I remembered correctly. Fantastic city-based adventure. Most city adventures I've seen actually have the action in dungeon levels under the city, or in ruins nearby the city, but here's an adventure where you battle foes in a bookstore, in the town's clock tower, in the streets, in the churches, etc. Plot contains surprise twists as well.
