This is an amazing pop-up book version of A Christmas Carol. I've never seen such intricate pop-ups!

Last year I reviewed A Christmas Carol, which I had read for the very first time. Because of that, this will not be a review of the story itself. Instead this will be a rather subjective review of the way the story is told through the pages of this absolutely illustrated book.

The first image is this gorgeous view of the city street as Scrooge is leaving his offices for the day. There is a lamplighter up on a ladder as he is lighting the lanterns for the night. People are walking down the street...more

I love everything about this book, from the characters to the story's structure. And it never gets old or loses any of its emotional impact. I cry every single time. This book is one of those timeless classics that I can't imagine my life without.

Seeing A Christmas Carol in a pop-up book, however, was a new experience for me. One of the things that struck me most was that this is not your typical pop-up book. The entire text of the novel is there. Each stave gets its own booklet, which can be f...more

Yes, yes, I know - you already have A CHRISTMAS CAROL in your library? Not really - this incredible pop-up book captures the spirit, surprise, and amazement of the season with gorgeous scene that spring from the pages. Master paper engineer Bruce Foster has created scenes we would not have believed possible in this format, while acclaimed artist Chuck Fischer paints the familiar characters as we’ve not seen them before.

The ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and future are amazingly detailed, and...more

I was amazed at the intricacy that went into creating this mesmerizing book. The author has created a variety of pop-up books that use his wonderful talent as an artist and an editor. Each page is accompanied by a little companion booklet that explains the scene you are looking at.

The first booklet tells the reader about Charles Dickens and why A Christmas Carol has had such a wide appeal to audiences throughout the years. Each subsequent book takes you on the journey faced by Ebenezer Scrooge.

I just won this from Goodreads, and can't wait to get it and share it with my family at Christmas time.

This book is gorgeous! Everybody who has seen it has been wowed and amazed by it. I love the artistry in the pop-up pages. It would be a great Christmas gift to another adult. It is definitely not a kid's pop-up book.

That being said, this was my first Dickens to read. Since most of what I read is mostly modern day, it was difficult to read the earlier English. There were many parts to the story...more

From my book review blog Rundpinne.
"This year I have stumbled upon an absolute treasure that any book collector, young and old, must have; Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol: A Pop-Up Book by Chuck Fischer. How many readers rolled their eyes when they read “pop-up book”? It is alright; one usually thinks of such books for young children, but rest assured this is not just any book!"...my full review may be read here.

This is such a fantastic book. I can't believe the amount of detail that is in this pop up book. The art really enhances the story. The original story is contained in small booklets pocketed on each fold out. This would be perfect to read out loud, covering one section each night leading up to Christmas. I think this would capture the attention of even the most jaded child or adult. This is the first book by Chuck Fischer that I have ever seen, but it won't be my last.

When I browse bookstore shelves and come across the elaborate pop-up books that no pre-schooler should ever touch, I get a little giddy. I love the creativity that goes into such projects, and Dickens's A Christmas Carol, illustrated by Chuck Fischer, is a wonderful example of what can be great about these books. The text of the Dickens's story is contained in a handful of mini-books that can be pulled out and read while enjoying the art. Great book!

An absolutely gorgeous pop-up book - beautiful enough to deserve a place on the mantle during the Christmas season. The story is a timeless classic, and Fischer's artwork has brought it to a new level. The pull-out sections of the story are fantastic, but it's the intricate details in the pop-up scenes that really win you over.

I won this book in a goodreads first-reads giveaway. I just got it today. Had to look at it right away. I love it. It is a beautifully illustrated pop-up book. The pop-up pictures are a great accompaniment to Charles Dickens classic tale.

If you love pop up books this is very cool- very detailed! But defiantly not for little hands. I won this in a Goodreads drawing and I am so glad we will have it to read this Christmas!

The pop-ups were very intricate and actually made the book a little hard to manage. Still one of my favorite stories though

Soon after graduating with a BFA in Advertising Art from the University of Kansas, I moved to New York City to pursue a career in the creative arts. First I tried the acting biz. I had countless walk-on parts on the soap opera All My Children and what I thought would be my "big break" in the movies. I was chosen by Woody Allen for a speaking part in his movie, Stardust Memories, but I was a victim...more
