This book is what i call a real five star book. It has adventure, bravery that sometimes leads to foolishness, and creatures who mess around and end up being friends. I liked this book because in almost every chapter.....something funny happens. I also somehow like to read and reread the descriptions of the scary creatures in there like a wolverine and the vermin throughout the story. Oh yeah....ummm..throughout the story....it is about a wolverine named Gulo the Savage who leaves the land of sn...more

Rakkety Tam Macburl and his friend Doogy Plum are masonry handling Highlander squirrels, bound to a couple of self appointed squirrel royalties. But when the evil beast-eating hordes led by the wolverine Gulo the Savage come to the royal dwelling and the banner the selfish Queen has worked on gets stolen, Rakkety and Doogy grab the chance. They promise to bring the banner back and when they do they must be released from the bond to the King and Queen.

This was the story of Rakkety Tam, a squirrel warrior engaged in a battle against a wolverine, Gulo the Savage, who is seeking his brother and the Walking Stone. The story involves many battles between "goodbeasts" and "vermin", and many lives are lost along the way. We get to know several of these animals, both good and bad. If you enjoy Brian Jacques Redwall books, you will probably enjoy this one as well. I found that it moved rather slowly and it took me some time to ...more

This was not one of my favorites in the Redwall series. I started listening to it on audio but I had such a hard time hearing/understanding the different accents that I ended up checking it out from the library and reading it. That probably has a lot to do with my less that stellar opinion. I just felt like this one was quite as dynamic as some of the other ones have been. But I still love Redwall and I'll keep reading them as long as he keeps writing them!

This book is interesting in that it was different than all the others. This one has a tortoise in it, a first, it has wolverines, a first no surprise. This is about how Rakkety Tam and his friend Doogy Plumm (what a horrible name!) battle the wolverine called Gulo the savage. I liked this book, but right now I can't remember much of it, so I'll have to read it again and tell you more.

This was a trip down memory lane for me. After all, it was the Redwall books that got me into fantasy in the first place. I thought I wouldn't really enjoy it, but I surprisingly did. Though, I did find it rather tiresome with how often the beasties would break out into song, but I just skimmed over those. Other than that, I liked it.

considering that basically all redwall books have the same plot, id say that this is the best. it has much more compelling characters than many of of his books, and mr jacques uses his plot much more effectively than most of his books.

I read Redwall and enjoyed it. Picked this up randomly and couldn't finish it cuz it felt like a remake of Redwall but with diff animals. I do like how the hero has so much honor, not to break an oath.

Started off really strong, then I lost interest the last 100 pages and started skimming past the battles. Definitely the most "gory" Brian Jacques novel. Is a good read if you enjoy Redwall tales.

Rakkey Tam was one of the more interesting protagonists, although he turns fairly cookie-cutter as the story progresses. I enjoyed it, despite the usual formulaic plot-line.

This is a great good vs. evil scenario, the villian is truly cruel, the meanest of the mean in the series. Once you get into it, I highly recommend this one!

" Armel shrugged. "I suppose so, Brother, but why do creatures have to fight?"
Demple picked Mudge up and placed him on his shoulder. "Because there's always good and bad in the land, and goodbeasts have to protect their friends an' families from evil ones who want nothing but to conquer an' destroy."
