Laurie (Bitten by Paranormal Romance)
Ashlyn is back with her second book in her original saucy paranormal romance, Strange Neighbors. This time around Roslyn is moving into Marry’s old apartment 1B and she also discovers things are not always as they seem especially when she meets the werewolf in apartment 2A. Ashlyn keeps things interesting, fresh and full of passion, I really enjoyed this story it has a little mystery, humor, adventure and scorching hot sex scenes. There is so many loveable characters in this apartment building,...more

The Werewolf Upstairs is the second book in Ashlyn Chase's Strange Neighbors series and is an awesome addition to the PNR genre.

In this book we get a closer look at Roz Wells (get it? LOL!) Roz is Merry's (Strange Neighbors - see my review HERE) best friend. She has moved into Merry's recently vacated apartment because she's worried that Merry has made a mistake by marrying Jason. What Roz didn't realize was that by moving into the building she was putting herself right smack dab in the middle o...more

The Werewolf Upstairs by Ashlyn Chase caught my attention during a recent trip to the library for a couple of reasons - 1: the cover art is fun, and 2: I'm into the werewolf thing lately. The cover art is lighthearted and romantic in theme with a glitter heart, attractive woman, and werewolf feet set in a library. I expected a fun brain candy romance, and that is exactly what I got! There is a bit of mystery to keep the plot moving, but the main attraction is the blush-inducing romance between K...more

Sigh. I read the first of this series, Strange Neighbors and was completely underwhelmed, but I decided to give this one a chance. I like the premise - a building full of supernaturals, all living together - and I saw a bit here and there in Chase's writing that hinted at skill. And while this was a bit better than Strange Neighbors, that's really not saying much.

In this book, Roz, the best friend of Merry (from the previous book) moves into the building to keep an eye on Merry (or, really, it's...more

I had high hopes for this book, one that combines my two favorite elements in romance - the paranormal and humor. It works quite well as far as the paranormal, but it’s the humor that doesn’t keep pace and is lacking a bit. Thus, while I do like the characters and the storyline, I only had a smile or two to give the humorous side of it all and not a full-out chuckle that I pinned my hopes on.

Roz has moved into her best friend’s former apartment, worried about her friend and wanting to be close t...more

I’ve read some other Werewolf romances published by Sourcebooks, Casablanca, so I was quite eager to try this author as well. The Werewolf Upstairs continues the stories of characters first met in Strange Neighbors, but the author does a great job of bringing readers up to speed; I wouldn’t have been sure there was a first book if I hadn’t looked it up.

Attorney Roz Wells (the author loves to play with names) has just moved into her best friend’s old apartment. Now she’s meeting the neighbors, in...more

Witches and Werewolves, and Romance, "Oh My!"
"The Werewolf Upstairs" is the second installment in the Strange Neighbors series by Ashlyn chase.
This was the first novel I read by Ashlyn Chase and I was pleasantly surprised by the outcome.
This novel is a stand alone novel, but you still have past characters in the story, just not a big part. So you can read them in order, or not, it's your choice!

Roz Wells was a fun heroine. Yes, she was self conscience with low self esteem, but who isn't some...more

THE WEREWOLF UPSTAIRS is a fun paranormal romance. I enjoyed this book more than I did the previous one in the series, STRANGE NEIGHBORS. Roz is worried when her best friend, Merry, marries a shape-shifting baseball player. She doesn't know if the raven-shifting will hurt her friend and wants to be close by just in case. Little does she know that she is moving into a whole building full of paranormal beings. I like how these paranormals are living pretty normal lives and there is no hidden evil...more

I was excited for this and I was not let down. Ashlyn Chase writes a wonderful fun, light and funny romance and I am learning that this is a type I really enjoy and I really need from time-to-time. And the timing was perfect. I was just getting over bronchitis and being home with sick kids and here was this nice light romance and a perfect pick-me-up.

First there are the characters. I love Ms. Chase's characters. The women are self-assured but really not. Roz has self-image issues about her weigh...more

We first met the residents of this fun apartment complex in the first novel, Strange Neighbors. Now they are back and funnier than ever.

Met Rosalyn Wells. She is good friends with Merry from Strange Neighbors and an attorney. Rosalyn has moved into Merry’s old apartment. Rosalyn is not too sure she made the right decision moving in, until she meets Konrad Wolfensen. Konrad is everything that Rosalyn desires in a man…good looking, tall, charming. There is just one small detail that Rosalyn does...more

This is the second book in the Strange Neighbors series by Ashlyn Chase, and I must say I enjoyed this book much better than the first one. Seeking a change of pace, Rosalyn Wells moves into her best friend’s apartment building while she’s away, not knowing she’s moving into a building filled with paranormal people. She immediately meets and falls for Konrad Wolefenson, who just so happens to be a werewolf.

I think the writing in this novel was much better than in the first novel. Despite the few...more

This is the 2nd book in the Strange Neighbors series by Ashlyn Chance.

Attorney Roz Wells decided to move to the apartment complex her friend Merry had just vacated after falling in love with and marrying Jason, a famous Boston ball player, who also happens to be a shapeshifter! Merry is in Florida with her new husband (training camp) when Roz moves in, and she already meets one of her neighbors, the tall sexy Konrad Wolfensen, who offers to help her move her things into the apartment.

Yes this is book 2, but all the characters are introduced again so one can jump right in.

Roz is not sure what to believe either since her friend Merry did say she married a shape shifter. But when she does get that this is a not a normal house she takes it with ease. She was a nice woman, but insecure since she was not model thin. Konrad is one sweet wolf, and he tells her that she is perfect like she is. Gotta love that.

This was romance and lust from the first moment. Yes they fell fast, and k...more

I love these covers! I'm not normally a fan of cartoony covers, but these are adorable. I hope they stick with them throughout the series.

Now, on to the story: Roz Wells (say it out loud - you'll get it) is an attorney who's not happy with her chosen profession. She's a public defender but wants to do something different. She's moved into her best friend's recently-vacated apartment, and the first person she meets is uber-hunky Konrad Wolfensen.

Konrad works for a security company in a less-than-...more

Another fun book. I love how these paranorms play off each other.

Konrad is a werewolf and Roz is Merry's best friend who rents Merry's apartment after Merry marries Jason and leaves for Florida for spring training. Konrad has an instant attraction to Roz and helps her move in. Later that night he is caught after breaking into a business. (He and his brother have a security business that is failing and think by showing people they need security they will be hired). Roz ends up being his lawyer.

The Werewolf Upstairs is a fun, cheery paranormal romance with a large and crazy cast. It is in 2nd in the author’s series about paranormal characters that live in a Boston apartment complex.

Roz Wells is an over worked lawyer who has always felt like a plain Jane. When her good friend Merry gets married and vacates her apartment, Roz takes over. She immediately meets the delectable neighbor named Konrad Wolfensen. They...more

This was a fun second book about an apartment building full of supernatural tenants. In this case, the best friend of the heroine of the first novel has moved in as a surprise to her friend while that friend is out of town for a while. She is a no-nonsense public defender who is less than thin, wears glasses, and is disappointed with her love life. Next thing she knows, she ends up in bed and romantically attached to the hunky guy upstairs. What she doesn't know is that he is one of the supernat...more

This is the second book by Ashlyn Chase involving the residents of a Boston apartment building inhabited by mostly paranormals. I first met them in Strange Neighbors. In this book, Roz Wells (cute pun), a lawyer, moves into the building to be close to her best friend Merry. She knows that Merry's husband is a shapeshifter, but doesn't know about the other residents. She meets Konrad Wolfensen waiting for her moving truck and sparks fly.

Before long Konrad and Roz are an item, but Konrad has yet...more

Recently I've been reading a lot of books out of sequence and this just happened to have been another one. First book by Ashlyn Chase that I've read as well so I went into this pretty blind. I liked it and will pick up another book by her, but there were a few things that threw me off. There was a bit of a timeline problem in my mind that took me out of the story. Things like the hero calling the heroine every night but not seeing her for a week but the next time they talk face to face they comm...more

The Werewolf Upstairs by Ashlyn Chase is a paranormal story about werewolves, a vampire and a couple of ghosts. Roz, a lawyer, is not particularily fond of her chosen profession but it pays the bills. She moves into the apartment of a friend who is getting married. The building is owned by the soon to be husband of her friend and his aunt and uncle manage the place. The aunt is a busybody who constantly has her ears "to the doors" of the tenants. The tenants are an eclectic group, including two...more

This is the second book in the Strange Neighbors series by Ashlyn Chase. While I enjoyed the first book in the series, this one didn't fulfill my expectations like I had hoped. The cover is cute and eye-catching, but the book was lacking in spark.

Desperate for change, public defender Roz Wells decides moving into a new apartment is just what she needs to shake things up. But she'll get more than she bargained for when she starts dating the drop dead gorgeous boy next door, who just happens to be a shape-shifter...and quite possibly a criminal. Security salesman Konrad Wolfensen has made a living staging break-ins to spook people into buying his security system, but when he's accused of a much more serious crime, he'll have to enlist the...more

Quite pleasant romance between a human lawyer and a werewolf accused of a crime he didn't commit.
Roz Wells, the lawyer, just moved in a building were, unknown to her, she is one of the very few humans inhabiting the place. The rest of the neighbours are a vampire, two shapeshifters, two witches, a ghost and the aforementioned werewolf, Konrad.

I chose to read The Werewolf Upstairs by Ashlyn Chase because I do like a lighter read now and then; something laced with humor, a few unusual characters and a fun story. It provides a nice change from the gritty urban fantasy worlds and the emotionally charged romances I like to read.

Roz Wells, an attorney, moves into her friends recently vacated apartment in what is apparently one of the strangest buildings in the city. She meets her neighbor Konrad Wolfensen who happens to be a werewolf, and...more

I can't give this book stars (good or bad) because I couldn't get past the first chapter so it is a DNF.

I can't even give you full reasons I couldn't continue. All I know is that I didn't like any of the characters, at all, so it had no interest for me.

I don't think the Ashlyn Chase would be offended if I described this book as a little bit silly. Her neighbours are made up of a werewolf, a couple of shape shifters, two witches, a ghost and a crazy landlady to name a few.
