Well... I was expecting something romantic and sweet. I had read the words 'Cinderella story' and 'like the movie An Officer and a Gentleman' in some reviews. So, safe to say: I was in for a shock.
This is no Cinderella story. Unless Cindy's middle name is 'Slut' and her favorite pastime is to suck cock.
Which still wouldn't have been bad, had this been erotica (PWP and lots of smut). I wouldn't have expected much more. This story, however, did attempt at some fluff and romance, with the way our

Holy shit x2. Very masculine-nasty-short-read with a distinct amusing voice. Lots of generous dirty talk. That alone made it worth reading for.

Fun smutty story..aaand I must say some delicious dirty dialogue right here..heh-

"Are you gonna suck me off now?" Brody asked.

"Are you really horny? Do you want me to suck that big dirty cock?" Chance asked.

Brody closed his eyes and grabbed his crotch. He smiled as he said, "Yeah, suck my big dirty dick, baby.

"Ah, baby," Brody said. "I'm really close.

Hard to get through and distasteful. Chance is a slut and Brody is a selfish asshole. Still, I tried to wade through. But when, a little over halfway through, Brody hands Chance off to a trio of drunk men so they can f*** him - and he goes, leaning over a boat and flashing his ass like a dog in heat, I couldn't stand any more. Deleted it instantly from my digital reader and if I ever think of it again, it will be too soon.

Where do I begin...Aside from being IDENTICAL to the film "AN OFFICER AND A GENTLEMAN" starring Gereexcept with male leads, I just couldn't get into it. The changes made were enough to keep it from being complete plagiarism but it was still hardcore erotica with very little story and lets not even GO THERE with how underdeveloped the characters were except in the parst that were identical to the movie; the author didn't make much up except for the sex scenes.

I generally don't mind retellings of

This book was a good, quick read with plenty of hot sex scenes. Chance Martin is a hot young guy with a pasion for cooking. He is stuck working in a deli and watching the Food Network dreaming of becoming a chef. One afternoon Brody Johnson walked into the deli and set Chance's world on fire not to mention his perky butt. Brody is a Naval Officer home on leave to care for his dying mother. The young men's worlds collide and sparks fly.

Okay I liked this story. The sex (which there was alot of) was very hot. Brody was nothing but a complete top and he went after what he wanted, and what he wanted was sweet little ol Chance. I love all the dirty talking but a huge turn off for me was the use of the word dude while doing it. I hate when sex includes more than 2 people so the scene on the boat with the 3 other guys was not my favorite, but it was done well enough that it was still kinda hot. I was pissed that Brody made it a point ...more

I'm going with 1.5 stars. (I'll round up because I don't hate it as much as the book that I have rated as 1 star.) There have been precious few times that I was ever so glad to be rid of a book. I'm sorry. This just didn't work for me.

In my adult life, I've only disliked three books (that weren't assigned) as much or more than this one.

I had no connection with the characters. Chance was nice enough, but I had trouble with his moral compass. He seemed rather lose with his sexual morality but got

I gave this book two stars because there are interesting parts there, despite the fact that they are buried under very odd sex scenes to put it mildly (Here it comes, bitch ... I'm gonna breed that pussy ass again). I did not know men had pussies or that they could breed, but I guess they can in this book, nor did I ever heard about pussy ass. Chance and Sarah were the most normal characters in the book, Dave is a creepy old pervert with a squirrel obsession, and Brody is a sex maniac who had a ...more

Mini Review: Chance is a whiney doormat and Brody is a pushy asshole. Not my style, DNF.

Terrible and tasteless. I don't mind vulgarity, but it was just ridiculous in a really bad way. Didnt even finish reading.

An Officer and His Gentleman by Ryan Field is a classic literary romance. The central character is the damsel in distress, though in this case it is a male protagonist. Chance Martin is being held prisoner by an evil tyrant, his boss and landlord Dan Pratta. Dan, of course, is the villain. The knight in shining armor is Brody Johnston, a naval officer on leave. The central character has a sympathetic comrade named Sarah who injects comedy and dramatic flare into the story.

There were parts this book that I really liked, the description of the market and the customers was great. The side story of the squirrels was amusing and I liked the straight woman helping Chance out with his relationship. BUT....

I was confused as to why this talented kid felt like he couldn't get a job somewhere else. He has so little self respect he was willing to be berated and belittled by a man he hated - for 4 years?
And then Brody shows up with a "don't ask don't tell" problem that is to

When I was trying to decide what I wanted to say about this book in a review, all I could think of to say was what I felt after I'd finished, which was, "Eh."

I don't really have an extreme feeling about the book one way or another to be honest. I don't know if I went in expecting the wrong thing or what, but I just felt like I never really connected with the story or characters.

I felt bad for Chance's situation with Dan, the dirty old man, but that was about as much feeling as I could muster. A

I have never really read an mm story I didn't like wholeheartedly..this story started off ok with the exception pf the gross old shop keeper...for a time it looked like it was going to pick up and my younger hero who have the best of the best all around but I was sadly disappointed...I did not like this story..some parts I thought was just gross!! like the sweatpants and sharing of the guy on the boat...no Ryan this was not how the story started..there was No indication of an intent to share..af ...more

I liked Chance. He's living in an awkward and embarrassing situation, but with hopes and dreams of a better life. He's a tramp, ready to blow a guy in a back alley, but that makes him all the more real and interesting.

Unfortunately, his love interest, Brody, came across as a jerk and never improved. Both characters need to grow in a story, but Brody didn't seemed to do so. I never got attached to him, so when his behavior pushed Chance away I was cheering for Chance to move on.

I read 70% of the

I actually enjoyed this story more than I thought I would. I may even look into more books by Ryan Field. I am not really sure anything I say about this book could really put it in perspective. This is the kind of book that you will have to read for yourself because some people will love it and other will hate it.

While I enjoyed the story and characters (loved the squirrels LOL), I had a bit of a problem with Brody calling Chance 'bitch' all the time. Once in a while isn't too bad (whichever word you want to insert in there), but it felt excessive to me in this story.

Still, I liked this story enough to give it a re-read now, and will likely read it again in future.

***As you'll have noticed, I don't really write "reviews", just my own rambling thoughts and impressions. (I've decided to include this on all

Decidedly a non-standard romance story in many ways that I highly appreciated after all the uninspired same-same: very masculine, non-mushy, raunchy with lots of smutty dirty talk, menage, almost-cheating.
On the downside the characters lacked a bit of nuance, so while a fun read in the end it failed to really grab me.

Two stars is rounding up, while not the worst book I've read, this isn't the best either. Characters are pretty one dimensional and not very rootable. Brody is borderline abusive, and Chance was just shallow and whiny. But the writing was decent(though there were a few errors), and it wasn't a chore to finish.

Audiobook.
Why to spoil decent porn with squirrels, Sarah's tits, old man's dentures and overall sad excuse for a plot? I'm not sure if it was intentionally or not, but the two main characters came out pretty alive thanks to their many flaws, they both were rather unsympathetic human beings.
Two stars plus one to the voice talent for the great narration.

This is my first real Ryan Field book and it is very much a 'guy' romance - meaning - not a lot of talk or thinking about feelings or love. Things just are what they are. It is romance without mush...not to say that I didn't have heart twinges here or there. It had some kink, a shoe fettish, and lots of lusty sex with a Navy Officer. I really enjoyed the change.

Such an unexpected great read. I loved Chance he was such a sweet, adorable character. There were some things I would have objected to in other books but with this one I just went with it. A couple of sex scenes too many but it still deserves 5 stars in spite of that.

This is one of the hottest books I've ever come across. I listened to the audiobook version on my way from Iowa to Tennessee and wished for miles upon miles that I could pull over and have a place to relieve an itch.

I like Ryan Field's work, but this one did not touch me like all the rest that I have read. Both H/H were too wimpy, and I don't care for sharing (spoiler alert... the boat scene).

Maybe I'm in a bad mood? This was porn with a meager plot. Very meager. Like so slim you could miss it! So 3 for the porn or maybe 2? Maybe it was the horrible narrator?
