Ugh. There was too much of everything, the story was crammed with so much different elements it wasn't any fun to read. We have a serial killer, a sketch artist with the ability to draw the said killer's next victim, a determined detective, New Orleans, and voodoo.

All these elements unfortunatley constantly vied for attention, fragmenting the story and its flow. Disappointing.

Really like 2.5. I feel like this book had everything a wanted in a good story, a nice plot, great likable characters, but it didn't mix well. Maybe this was like a cake with all the ingredients, that followed all the instructions, and still turned out bad. I don't know where it went wrong, but wasn't as tasty as it should have been.

Really good suspense. Though guessed the leader but the edge of the seat thrill was there.

This was a good story but it only gets one star for two reasons. First, the lovers didn't use condoms. That's a big no-no. Second, the word "myocardial" is used in reference to DNA between mother and daughter. The word should be "mitochondrial." Myocardial pertains to heart tissue. Rookie mistake.

I really like to figure out who did it myself without reading the character intros. at the start but wouldn't you know it, I had a second or two where I glanced past and figured out who didn't do it. Overall, I found myself enjoying the story and I liked the characters so I hope they reappear somewhere in future books.
