I try to read this book most nights before going to bed, at least a few pages. Why? Because the human spirit gets beaten and battered each day and at the end of it, you need something to soften the blow. I read it to rekindle my hope in myself and my dreams. They are possible but sometimes life has a way of undermining them. I thank God that Joel has this book to put a smile on my face and heart each night. Dont expect to read this book cover-to-cover, as it is highly repetitive. You'll read the ...more

My first thought upon picking this book up was, "Why is he on the cover?" I didn't know how popular Joel Osteen is, or how marketable his image is. This was my first time reading anything of his.

This book is definitely humanly inspiring, since it focuses on "you," but I'm not convinced it's entirely biblical. I understand that we need to grow our faith and trust God completely. I know that God will provide what we need. But I don't entirely agree that God wants all of us to be "prosperous" or "

Joel Osteen's It's Your Time is an inspirational/spiritual handbook on how to change your outlook and tap into God's outrageous plans for you.

Did I say outrageous?

First of all, I listened to the audio version of this book, read by the author. A friend of mine recommended him to me and I saw this at the library while looking for a book on languages. Not sure why I picked it up, but whatever. I put the first CD in and heard a thick Texan accent calling me "Friend" and telling me I'm a loafer who d

This is an amazing book, i've seen Joel in person and what an amazing man he truly is. I think everyone should read one or more of his books. You will find it spiritually sound and motivating.
The third collection of, ahem, “sermons” from America’s premier prosperity preacher. The Great Recession means boom times for a new breed of televangelists pointed labeled “prosperity preachers” by the U.S. media and of these none is doing better box office than “Pastor” Joel Osteen. The seemingly non-aging (does he have a middle aged painted portrait of himself in his attic?) and photogenic as Julia Roberts Houston preacher has boxed up 300 pages of his latest corporate-level-consistent, uh, s ...more

Overall a very positive and inspiring book for those who may have lost hope in their lives ever changing.
While I don't consider myself a religious person, subscribing to a specific faith, I did appreciate the spirituality in this book. I had to look past the religious references, for myself, to find the deeper meaning behind the Bible passages. I also preferred the real life examples in the book to the passages from the scripture.

Joel Osteen should be called the great motivator. He so simply motivates and challenges you to be all that God wants you to be. He teaches of God's favor and trusting God for abundance in our lives. Using stories from everyday life, he shows how truly trusting God for the natural and the supernatural can achieve all God's blessing. He gives inspiration, bold prayers and practical living tools for moving forward in faith. The hope filled messages and encouragements motivates you to expand beyond ...more

I really enjoyed how uplifting this book was,it was very encouraging and eye opening. Joel Osteen testimonies of how he overcame obstacles,struggles and how he was victorious build my faith. I also loved he talked about releasing your faith and have bold prayers, not just prayers that get by. Thriving not merely surviving but having everything that God has in store for you. It was a very powerful book about reaching your potential,very encouraging and insightful!

I just finished reading this book, but so far what I have read has been inspiring. I'm starting to believe that it is my time for blessings and favor!

Some of the content is redundant, but I suppose it may be necessary to reinforce the idea that it really is your time.

I also enjoy reading the blog that he and his wife Victoria writes. I like to start off my day this way.

(Taken from my blog entry:

What were the issues then that led me to give this book a rating comparable to “poor”? Quite a bit. Sit back and have a nice cup of coffee or tea as you review this list with sometimes lengthy explanations.

1. Too long. From start to finish, It’s Your Time runs a little over 300 pages. The book has 23 chapters and is broken up into five different sections that include 4-5 chapters each:

* It’s Time to Believe
* It’s Time for Favor
* It’s Time for Rest

Okay, okay, I admit that I was skeptical at first when a friend gave me this book. We are both practicing Catholics and have shared the same struggles in our jobs and marriages in the past year-and-a-half. What have I got to lose? (Besides a little time.) I picked up the book and read it during this first week of 2012.

Once I got past Joel Osteen's mega-watt smile and too-good-to-be-true lifestyle that he leads with his Mega-Church in Texas, I started to believe that maybe, just maybe, he is righ

One big ray of sunshine, that Joel Osteen is. I listened to this on CD and he read it. It was good to hear him annunciate the positives and even laugh at his own little jokes. The entire premise of the book is that God doesn’t close one door with out opening another. Osteen rides this theme from start to finish. Always keep positive and trust in God. He uses several stories of people who have had challenges in their lives and God had plans for them to be great. They only had to believe that He w ...more

If the purpose of this book was to motivate & encourage using some biblical aspects & everyday life, then Pastor Joel has accomplished his mission. If the goal of this book was to give the reader a book that flowed like an ongoing conversation, then once again the goal was met. If the goal of this book was to not bog down the reader with alot of religious dogma & theology, then again the goal was met..

I thought this was an excellent book. I finished it feeling motivated & encoura

It is very helpful and encourages me to be the best I can and though times may get difficult nothing lasts forever, absolutely inspiring, a definite read for anyone looking for a positive side to their situation gives you a total different look at daily life.

Joel Osteen's goal in life is to motivate and inspire individuals in their time of need.

Even though this book had some repeat stories, I still felt it was encouraging and heartfelt.

It’s Your Time by Joel Osteen is a religious book that is about God’s favor and blessings coming down on those who may feel down and out. This book speaks to the those going through foreclosure, failed relationships, overwhelming finances and distraught parents or anyone giving up hope. This uplifting book emphasizes believing that it’s time for increase, receiving favor, restoration, and trusting in God in order to build hope and encouragement that things will get better and victory over obstac ...more

Beautiful stories of inspiration accompanied by positiveness. Definetely a book you want to keep and read over and over again to refresh your brain and spirit.
Times are tough, but they need not be so for you, says Lakewood Church pastor and best-selling author Osteen.. In this latest rendering of the supremely popular message of the power of positive thinking, Osteen uses practical, down to earth language and copious biblical and contemporary anecdotes to demonstrate how to manifest the health and wealth that we are meant to have, as favored children of God. Broadly, Osteen directs the reader to avoid negative, defeatist thoughts and behaviors, to hav ...more

Great Christian book by Osteen. I have watched Osteen's Sunday morning services off and on for a few years and while he's not the most in depth teacher, he is extremely uplifting. That comes out in his books very well. The book did a wonderful job re-inspiring my faith and "lighting a fire" under me to get things right in my life. I wanted to give the book four stars for how well it served me, but to be more fair to the average reader I gave it three. I am the type of reader that you have to pou ...more

I've read several of Joel's books and each one has inspired me to be a better person. In this book he explains how you can live a more fulfilling life when you "believe" that "It's Your Time". It's not a book for readers who are negative and have a closed mind. It is only for those who seek change in their life without being bombarded by scriptures and unrealistic stories. I picked this book to download because I believe "It's My Time" and it could be yours too if you're ready to change the way ...more

I found this book at an airport bookstore in 2010, and it changed my life. My husband and I had suffered four miscarriages, and I was just about ready to give up. And if it weren't for this book, I would have. Fortunately, I didn't, and just as Joel Osteen promises, I was closer than I thought. I got pregnant again in the summer of 2011, and had my daughter in 2012. And in 2013, we had our second child, a baby boy! I still read this book, and find inspiration in Osteen's words when I'm feeling d ...more

This is the amazing conclusion to the last edition titled "Become a Better You:. Its from the same author and covers the same concept and tells the reader that no matter how hard the econemy is its is still possible to achive your goals. I found this book to be very inspirational and unforgetable with the words written by Joel. I recommend this book for struggling teens in High school.

While filled with encouragement and optimism, Osteen doesn't address the fact that sometimes things simply don't go our way. He repetitively tells us that "our time is about to come". Well, not really....we may have to suffer many more trials and heartache. I'm a true Osteen fan, I really am, and love listening to his sermons on Sunday. I just wish he'd address the fact that sometimes our hopes and dreams don't pan out and that we have to try to live a productive and happy life despite our disap ...more

Recommends it for: Those who let despair or cynicism stop them from their dreams
It was hard not to judge this book from the start. Not only was Osteen's voice much like George W. Bush's voice, the book seemed like one of those false promise books, eg: put all your hopes in this one basket and see how it goes. It was very reminiscent of 'The Secret'.

However overall, Osteen's positiveness and consistent message seem to win out. The only big fault I find with it is the fact that he puts too much trust in things going right without the person ensuring that they are going right

This book is a breath of fresh air. This is my second book I read from Joel Osteen and I must say I see life through completely different eyes. I have a new found love for my life and my experiences. I know now that God does not do things to me, but rather for me. Every obstacle is just God stretching me for what he has in store for me. I woke up this morning feeling slight bitterness. I started to read the last few chapters of this book and I felt perfect again. I recommend this book to everyon ...more
