With the weather as nice as it has been today what better way to spend the day than a glass of Pimms and a great book to read in the sun! Yes that is what I have spent my day doing. I decided to start Priceless by Nicole Richie. I have had this book on my side for just over a week and I was intrigued as to how good it would be but the cover wasn’t really enticing me to read it. I have been caught out this way before though and this is when it is always good to remember that age old saying “Never...more

Priceless basically tells the story of rich socialite, Charlotte Williams, and how her life is turned upside down when her father is arrested for fraud. With the family home seized, all bank accounts frozen and the paparazzi out to get her, Charlotte flees to stay with her old nanny, Miss Millie, in New Orleans. Charlotte quickly gets to know Miss Millie’s son, Jackson, and the quirky Kat Karraby and her life starts to change.

I found this book to be a nice easy read, if a little predictable in p...more

Review: Natasha lent me this one. When I made the face when she told me who wrote it, she said to trust her, she wasn't expecting much, but was pleasantly surprised. Well, I have to tell you I was also pleasantly surprised. Nicole puts together a nice story about a young privileged girl who out of the blue has to grow up and learn to do things for herself. The story is well written and Charlotte develops nicely from a spoiled little rich thing to a likable and strong women. I'll be honest at tim...more

Wow, who knew Nicole Richie could write? My expectations were blown away by Priceless. The story is a tale of overcoming adversity, finding yourself, and becoming who you should be. You could definitely see Ms. Richie's life on the pages, her past has definitely shaped her writing, but then again, authors are told to write what you know right?
I was definitely a bit irritated by some of the characters and their superiority, their treatment of the common folks. But Charlotte overcomes that. She fi...more

This novel follows the tale of Charlotte Williams, a spoiled talented singer who comes back to her posh apartment in New York after being away in Paris. But suddenly her riches go to rags when her wealthy father is arrested on fraud charges. When the money dries up so do her superficial friends and she flees to start a new life with her old nanny Miss Millie in New Orleans. She begins her singing again and tries to hide her past from her new friend Kat Karaby. Things start to look like they are...more

Who knew Nicole Richie could write, huh? In fact, she had already written two books. Priceless is a follow up novel after her first one, "The Truth about Diamonds". So basically, this chick lit novel is about a rich and beautiful New York socialite, named Charlotte Williams whose life is always revolved around fashion, partying, gossips and of course, men.

Since her mother's death, Charlotte's father had been her only family left. She loved him deeply, but he just wasn't there much as his work h...more

Okay, so when I picked this book up I thought that it wasn't going to be any good. To be honest I thought that Nicole Richie wouldn't be able to write - I hadn't heard much of her expect when she was with Paris Hilton. Boy was I wrong. Now I'm not someone who can admit to being wrong or enjoys being wrong and when it comes to books, i'm nearly always an open mind. So I really love the fact that I was wrong about this book.

Though this story line has been used before, it has been used in a way tha...more

I often purchase books from the thrift store in hope of saving a dime or two and getting a practically new copy. So, when on one of my voyages to Savers, I noticed Nicole Richie's name on the spine of the book, now her name being larger than the actually title, I assumed that it must be a biography. I grabbed it and noticed it was a novel, to my surprise. Nicole Richie can write?? So, naturally for $1.99 and never been read, hardback cover, I grabbed it. I quite enjoyed this book to say the leas...more

I did not absolutely love this book, BUT i will say it was veeery interesting, the whole stalker thing made it great!

Priceless is a story about a young woman (Charlotte) who is a little rich girl spoiled her whole life. She lost her mother when she was young and her father was always at work. Well, after returning from paris for a year she comes home to find her father has practically stolen all the money he's every "earned" and she is getting attacked for being the daughter of him even though s...more

Hmm, definitely an improvement on the previous 'novel'. Richie actually managed to exclude herself from the plotline this time, whihch was nice, and though there was a definite 'feel sympathy for the poor little rich girl' vibe throughout, the characers were likeable enough and the plot actually had some depth to it. Richie's writing has improved, though she could do with a good thesaurus every now and then (its not so much repetitive as it is simplisitic, which probably makes sense really given...more

Well what can you expect? When you compare her efforts to say... Paris Hilton, the book is a masterpiece!! How much was written by Nicole? I'd take a stab and say most of it, as it has that obnoxious 11 year old quality about it. There was a lot of rhyming going in in this book and it really
bugged me. The standout rhyme was about charlottes undies that were both concealing and revealing, I wonder if the FBI dude also found them... Appealing? There was also quite a bit of wasted space in this bo...more

I'm not going to lie. I bought this book because it had a 50% off sticker on it and I was thinking its going to be an OK read but nothing to talk about... wow was I wrong. I was very surprised when I picked this book up and started reading. I couldn't put it down and that says a lot. If I don't like a book after two chapters I will put it back. Might even take it back, but I loved this book. I would recommended it to anyone. I have read it twice.
Charlotte Williams isn't your average girl she's...more

Priceless: A Novel by Nicole Richie is as good as you'd expect. I had high hopes for this book because I have really enjoyed Lauren Conrad's series of young adult fiction novels. Conrad's use of behind-the-scenes knowledge really elevates the book. In Priceless, Richie is just not bold enough. She has an okay plot and her writing style is adequate. She just doesn't take the risk and really delve into what it means to be privileged due to no doing of your own and the crossroads that many spoiled...more

This book gives a different point of view about a rich person getting in trouble for embezzling money from their investors, that of his daughter. When Charlotte Williams's father is sent to jail for an embezzling charge Charlotte Williams is left alone for the first time in her life. Her bank accounts are closed and she is forced out of her apartment plus her partying friends leave her in her time of need she goes to New Orleans in order to stay with an old nanny. While in New Orleans she meets...more

I love Nicole Richie, so I had to read this.
The book was so-so. The plot was interesting enough to keep me reading but there wasn't much uniqueness in the storyline.
Charolette is a rich NY socialite. Her mother passed when she was young and her father spoiled her with money, present, anything. Charolette finds herself in some trouble after a love spat at school. She takes some time off to return and find her world is changing fast. Her father is arressted for embezzling and fraud. Not only is he...more

To be honest, I don’t know why I picked this book when I had the feeling that it will be boringly cheesy :/ n I don’t know how Nicole Richie became a writer!!!!!
The story is very very very boring, nothing new or creative in its plot or climax. Characters are shallow and meaningless. Very predictable, as I said nothing new in the story!
I don’t recommend this book at all though it will be a good read for teenagers between the age of 14 n 18!
My advice to Nicole; please spend your time in smth good...more

I was actually surprised by how much I enjoyed this book. I originally saw a review for it in Entertainment Weekly that said for a celebrity-written book, it wasn't bad. So I decided to check it out at the library, because for some reason, I can't say no to all the latest celebrity-turned-writers (Lauren Conrad, Hilary Duff)--I keep reading their books because I want to see how bad they are.
But like I said, this one I actually enjoyed. It was an easy read, and the plot was actually well-thought...more

Her book was much better than I had anticipated.
I am so glad that I looked past the whole "actress turned writer" thing and actually sit down to read this amazing novel. To be completely honest, once I picked up the book it was hard for me to put it down again. Her character and plot development are excellent. I was never bored during any part of the book. She made it easy to sympathize with Charlotte, because she wasn't your typical, spoiled rich girl. She had a heart and a god head on her shou...more

3.5 out of 5

When I was offered the chance to read Priceless, I accepted, but my expectations weren't really all that high. This is the first novel I've read from a celebrity (that's fiction anyways) and I thought that it wouldn't be good. But I was surprisingly, and pleasantly, wrong! Now, there's nothing extraordinary about the book. But it definitely kept my interest and I enjoyed it!
Reading the summary of the book, I just knew that I would hate Charlotte. And just the first couple of pages pr...more

Actually not terrible! True, it was a little shallow and the attempt made at character development was not exactly nuanced (she's a spoiled bitch! Now she's gracious, kind, and humble!), but it was reasonably well-written. The pacing was brisk and I stayed interested from the first page to the last. I do have to say that the stalker storyline was pretty predictable and I definitely rolled my eyes more than once as Charlotte continued to be clueless about his identity. This book probably won't ch...more

The book was alright to read. I picked up in the airport when I was bored and had not carried anything to read. It was alright to keep me company during the 2 hour flying time.

But this book is so obviously not written by Nicole Richie. I picked the book up just to see if her ghostwriter would be good enough, since I have tried L.A. Candy series by Lauren Conrad and enjoyed them. Celebrities hire decent ghostwriters who aren't too talented so that we can believe that the celebrities themselves wr...more

This was a first reads giveaway book that I won. I entered the giveaway because the descrption of the story sounded interesting. I did not initially notice who wrote it. When I did notice the author's name, I assumed it would be painful to read. I was pleasantly surprised, to some extent. It was not painful to read. It in fact, was an easy, quick, entertaining book. I enjoyed the characters and the basic premise. The writing got better towards the end, but Ms. Richie will not be winning a Pulitz...more

Being that I am not a big fan of Nicole Richies, I am still surprised I picked up this book. I guess you could say I was curious. It’s hard for me to express just how low my expectations for Priceless were. I don’t like celebrities or gossip or fashion or reading about beautiful people. I just find it… annoying. And I wasn’t expecting Richie to be a Great Writer or anything. However I honestly enjoyed reading this book. Maybe she had a ghostwriter or maybe she is more talented then I assumed. Ei...more

Cliché, But Somewhat Different

As I walked through the town of Hollywood, I wondered what really goes on in their celebrity lives. Were there riches real and were their lives like they said in T.V.? Or did they face the same challenges we face as non-rich super stars? Well that's what led to me to think about the book I'm reading about today, Priceless by Nicole Richie who is actually a super-star we see today. Writing about celebrities and the challenges they face a coincidence? I think not.

Sigh.

A few weeks ago I wrote a blog about celebrities becoming authors and using ghostwriters. Overall, I wasn’t too thrilled by the idea but when the chance came along to read Nicole Richie’s second novel, Priceless, I was quite prepared to say ‘hey, maybe I don’t like the idea of celebrities writing books, but this one was really good, so they’re not all a bad idea’. Unfortunately, that didn’t happen.

Priceless centres on Charlotte Williams – a young New York socialite, as she deals with the ar...more

Priceless by Nicole Richie is a classic "beach read". the story was fast and I didn't get bored. I would not say it was the best book I have ever read, nor the worst. I would recommend it to anyone who likes light reading and enjoys love stories with a twist. All and all I would say that I enjoyed this book. If Nicole Richie writes another novel, I might pick it up.
I don't have much else to say, cause it's a simple story and I don't want to spoil it for anyone who might be interested.
Meg - A Bookish Affair
Charlotte has always lived a charmed life. When her father is charged with a financial crime by the SEC, Charlotte runs to New Orleans to find her former nanny, Miss Millie. For the first time, Charlotte has to take care of herself and make her own money all while being watched by someone who wishes nothing but ill will towards her and her father. Charlotte also discovers that she has a very talented voice and that she can truly sing.

I was pleasantly surprised by this book. It's a good story. T...more

I happened to see this at the library and was intrigued by the pretty cover. I went into this book without expectations and was blown away. Nicole Richie weaves an amazing tale about love, loss, friendship, and passion in this novel. A young girl is faced with a father facing prison time for embezzling, going from uber-rich to poverty level overnight, gains a stalker, and flees from everything she's ever known to start again in a new city. She embraces a new culture in New Orleans, new people, a...more

Fun, light read. The beginning in the club was a bit hard-going but once we got into the story I enjoyed it.I particularly liked the setting, I don't know much about New Orleans, but this made it sound interesting (rather than just devastating which was my previous impression). This book wasn't perfect, but I wasn't in the mood for doom and gloom and so this suited me fine.
