Like a roller coaster ride, I Dream of Genies by Judi Fennell was just that, a fun ride, with twists and turns, with huge dips and a fast pace that had the reader laughing through the whole bright and colorful story, with shades to another great genie- I Dream of Jennie!

I gave this 5/10 on my blog: Book Chick City
I really wanted to love 'I DREAM OF GENIES'. The premise sounded like such fun and as it was the holiday season and I had time off over the new year (when I began reading it) I was looking for a really good romance novel, and as it was about genies I was also looking forward to a fresh take on paranormal romance - no vampires or werewolves in sight.

First off let me say that I enjoyed Judi's Mermaid series immensely but I Dream of Genies makes the rest of them pale in comparison. This book is such a hoot! I started laughing right from the very first page and couldn't stop even after I finished the book. I still giggle when I think about so many different scenes. If you want to start your New Year off with a bang and full of laughter then this is something you must read. It rates right up there with Godiva chocolates everyone! YUMM!

Eden, a genie, has been trapped in her bottle longer than she wants to think about. But one day, when her bottle is thrown out with the trash, she finds herself free -- and sprawled all over Matt Ewing, the cute guy she's been admiring for some time now. At first, Matt doesn't believe that Eden's a genie, but a dragon, talking cat, and several mishaps later, and he can't deny what she is -- or his attraction to her. Too bad there's a bad guy out there who will do whatever it takes to control Ede

Eden is a genie and has spent the last 2,000 years in a bottle, and she's about had her fill of it and wants out. She first spotted Matt while stuck in her bottle and has been crushing ever since. Now poor Matt Ewing, his business isn't doing so great -- but he never thought what he was looking for was in a bottle.
I Dream of Genies is magical adventure, with action and a hot romance. I love watching reruns of 'I Dream of Jeannie' so I was really curious what this book would be like. More...

“I Dream of Genies” is a whimsical carpet ride of mishaps and mirth. Judi Fennell brings her signature cheeky humor that served her so well during her Mer series, Tritone Trilogy (In Over Her Head, Wild Blue Under, and Catch of a Lifetime) that is smart, sassy, and just a little bit slapstick. Once again the animal sidekicks have a way of stealing scenes from the two protagonists, Matt and Eden. I guess the advice of never working with children and animals is as true in books as it is in film. O

She could wish for anything, except for her own freedom and Matt's love.
It was just another sad, lonely day in Eden's bottled life with only a talking cat for company when everything changed. 2,000 years of living in her bottle watching as the rest of the world goes by is her penance for committing Master murder. Good thing she still has her magic to brighten things up and a dragonlet to care for, and then of course there's Matt. He unknowingly runs by her bottle everyday, providing More...

This is maybe really a 2-1/2 star book for me. It had a great premise but it didn't really hold my interest. The middle section where they were in the entirely too too too whimsical hidden genie city really dragged. It was just like a mad festival, Carnival if you will, of magic. I felt a bit like I was in some psychedelic children's song. The end of the book picked up again but was pretty syrupy sweet. Thankfully this was light hearted so I didn't have to invest much in trying to understand

I really liked this book and enjoyed reading it. I found I had trouble putting it down (much to my family's annoyance). I loved all the pop culture references in the book. The main characters of Eden and Matt were great a wonderful couple and I really liked how they interacted with each other. Obo the cat was a definite highlight of the story.
I am looking forward to reading more of Judi's books. She is a great writer.

I'm about halfway and I really wanted to like this book. So far I think it's one of the stupidest books every written.
This did not capture my attention. I started and stopped and only finished due to pure determination. I can't say that I hated this but it's definitely on the more stupid side of silly. But then, I've never seen the attraction about I Dream of Jeanie. I'm more of a I Love Lucy fan.

Didn't Really Work For Me
It doesn't matter how palatial the bottle, being sentenced to spend three thousand years locked up in one, with only a talking cat and the random dragon hatchling as company, is harsh. Yes, Eden is technically responsible for the death of her master, but she only meant to scare him and she had very good reason to do so. Unfortunately, there is no such thing as mitigating circumstance for the djinn High Master.

Vacation Review: What a great summertime read I Dream of Genies turned out to be. I pretty much giggled from beginning to end and mostly at the expense of Eden. She was feisty, sassy, brazen, and such an accident waiting to happen. You wanted all good things to happen to her but you knew she was going to trip up along the way. I saw this book reviewed on another site and decided to give it a go myself as it looked like a fun little story. I quite enjoyed reading it and thought there were some fun twists in the author's imagination as she incorporated some of the old with new, as well as paying a little tribute to the original television series with Barbara Eden and Larry Hagman which was a favorite of mine when I was growing up.

Eden has learned the hard way what happens when you piss off the High Master. She has had two thousand years to ponder on it. The only bright spot in this whole situation is that at least Eden has a window view of the world and she has a companion in Obo. One moment Eden was sitting in her bottle minding her business and the next moment she awakes to find her dream has come true.

Reluctant djinn Eden has been trapped in her bottle for 1700 years of a 3000 year sentence. When a trash truck knocks the stopper off her bottle, she tumbles right into Matt Ewing's lap...literally. Eden's had her eye on him for a long time - he's been jogging past her store window for months. Eden's only wish is to have sex and more sex with Matt. On the other hand, Matt instantly feels the attraction but thinks he is taking advantage of her so he abstains. It's not all hearts and flowers

Even when author Judi Fennell was a child she had her nose in a book and her head in the clouds. Her mother would implore her to "Get outside," when all she wanted was to watch "Bewitched" or "I Dream of Jeannie" on television. Now she is an award-winning author and a three-time finalist in online contests after studying Spanish at Penn State. Titles in her Mer series include: In Over Her Head, Wild Blue Under, and Catch of a Lifetime. Genie Knows Best and Leave it

Jeannie is Eden, the Major is Matt Ewing, and I'm still trying to find a reference for Obo, the talking cat... For those too young to know, Jeannie was played by Barbara Eden, and Larry Hagman (the Major) also played J.R. Ewing in Dallas. I like the author's sense of humor!
I Dream of Genies is a fun, light-hearted read. Eden is hilarious, Obo is entertaining, and Matt is the reluctant hero. Together, the three get into all sorts of hijinks, especially while running from the bad guy, Gr More...

After reading the authors previous series featuring under water adventures, I had great expectations for her new trilogy featuring Genies. I love the way the author can take a fantasy romance and weave fun humor into the tale without going overboard on it.
With this book, the author did not disappoint with her way of making magic with words. Eden was funny and determined which fit her character well. She also balanced perfectly with Matt, who has had some bad luck lately. Bot More...

This was a book that I could not finish because of the "And she fell on top of his dick" type stories.
I do love paranormal romances, you know the ones? Boy meets girl, boy and girl fall instantly in love - shit hits the fan and they need to overcome and in the end they have a HEA. Usually these types of stories also involve lots of sex which is fine also.
HOWEVER, this one was just not my cup of tea. Chapter two and the heroine was literally falling More...

I picked up the book because the idea appealed to me. I expected some humor, maybe a little poking fun at the old I Dream of Jeanie tv show.
But the execution left something to be desired. I never cared about the characters. I found Obo the talking cat to be the most interesting and appealing character, and he wasn't that appealing. Eden and Matt were flat, even boring. I have to admit I only skimmed most of the book because I didn't connect with Eden or Matt at all. (And to be bruta More...

I DREAM OF GENIES by Judi Fennell is a great read. The story is fresh and engaging with characters that are both intriguing and realistic. I am eager to read the next book, GENIE KNOWS BEST. Fans of the old I Dream of Jenie tv series is sure to adore I DREAM OF GENIES. There is a touch of suspense, nothing overpowering but enough to keep the action and to keep you quickly turning pages. The hero is to die for, and the heroine is too cute and funny to truly appreciate unless you read the story.

After reading Fennell’s Mermaid trilogy last year I was ready to check out some more magical love within I Dream of Genies. I mean really…who wouldn’t want to find out what a beautiful “free” genie could do for a gorgeous man?! Even though I found myself laughing at some of the scenes and a bit hot during others (boy did sexual magic spark between them!), I have to admit that I wasn’t that interested in the storyline. This book took me a bit longer to read in comparison to her previous ones and

Welcome to a world of magic, adventure, sexy genies and talking animals. Ms. Fennell blends pop-culture references and old world mythology to create Al-Jannah. It’s like Easter morning as you discover all of these little eggs she has cleverly written into her story.
I Dream of Genies is campy yet clever - humorous yet tender. It’s a fun read and the ending melted my heart. I look forward to seeing what Ms. Fennell has planned next from the world Al-Jannah.

This was a cute little story. Sweet romance, lots of magic, and creative world building. Basically it focuses on Eden the High Master's adopted daughter (he was in love with her mother who fell in love with a mortal and had Eden) Needless to say this is about Matt and Eden and how Matt tries to cope with the fact that magic is indeed real and that he is in love with a Genie if that wasn't bad enough he has to go rescue her.
Again pretty good sweet simple romance with the hint of magi

As I often say, I really wanted to love this book. I was looking for something fun to read and it was not anything like I was expecting. I couldn't get into the book at all, not at all. I also felt that the main characters fell a bit flat, even the talking cat --come on how much fun is a talking cat? was not fun either. I was sad I didn't enjoy this book. I liked the premise though...would have been amazing if I could have gotten into it.

Not my cup of tea, cute and humorous sort of chick lit with paranormal thrown in, good writing as well. I just haven't been in a mood for those kind of books for quite sometime already.
