A great read even for a non-hiker like me. Very real, very involving, it's reading at its best. Illig is a natural writer. Check out a sample at smashwords.com if you want to see for yourself.
I really liked all three books. I would recommend reading them in the order that he walked them, starting with Trail Ways, Path Wise.

John Illig grew up in Rochester, New York, and graduated from the University of Rochester in 1986 with a degree in English Literature. Obsessed with bouncing balls, he has for the past 18 year worked as an intercollegiate squash coach - - most recently at Middlebury College in Vermont, where he is on the faculty.
