I began One Grave at a Time with this expression:
and ended with this one:

The main reasons why I adore the Night Huntress novels:
1. Bones.
2. Cat.
3. The romance between the two.
4. Amusing and awesome side characters (Vlad!).
5. Lots of awww-worthy scenes.
6. An utterly engaging plot.
Of those six reasons, only one of them is found in One Grave at a Time in abundance, and that is Cat. There is not nearly enough Bones, none of Vlad, almost no cute and heart-stopping fights/playful bantering betwe...more

It seems that the cover for the 6th book is out already...
And guess what, they change the model! I admit I like the previous model, but this one not bad either :)Her hair is down, and the cat finally make appearance *hello Van Helsing*
I love the stepback too...

Like always, we can't see ALL Bones's face, but no problem :P
The release date is August, 30th, so we just wait 3 months to read this. Good, I really hate waiting so long... Just ordered my copy! LOL!

The Night Huntress series is a big guilty pleasure of mine. I love the characters, the dialogue and each new challenge presented to Cat and Bones in every book. They are not deep stories and there is quite a large emphasis on romance and sex, rather than mysteries, but they're pleasurable and addictive... like chocolate. And they're also better than a great deal of the paranormal genre because Jeaniene Frost writes fantastic characters and banter between them.

This is crazy I haven't read This Side of the Grave yet and I want this book so bad!!!
Update 7 June 2011:
Okay, I really want this to be published already, I keep re-reading the series thinking that by the time I do this will be out, unfortunately I can't time travel to October...
Gah!!! Just finished, review to come in a couple days. (:

Being an avid reader of the first 5 books, it's evident that the series is sadly beginning to lose momentum. It seemed like the author was clutching at straws with the plot to create a completely out-of-the-blue arch enemy that you somehow fail to care about.

All the darkness lately made it easy to forget the world contained more than people trying to hurt other people. It had beauty, too, if you knew where to look - and remembered to open your eyes.
What a perfect installment to the Night Huntress series! One Grave at a Time was nothing short of full on adrenaline and actioin. This series is on fire and the flames are just as strong as they were at the beginning of this series.

Love, love, love my Cat and Bones. I don't care if this book (and it seems the series) has lost the "heat" the first couple of books had. I was very happy to see that Cat had learned her lesson about going off without Bones. I loved to see how they are together as a strong unit, finally. Bones keeps adding powers as we go along. Becoming co-ruler of Mencheres line seems to have given him all kinds of interesting things. I like it.

Awesome book!! I was so excited when this finally came out- and I definitely wasn't disappointed!
The book starts off with Don, Cat's uncle who passed away in the last book, unable to move on to the afterlife now that Cat was safe and things have settled down, but for some reason... he wasn't leaving. and he's NOT happy about that!
With Cat's still "borrowed" abilities from Marie, the ghosts still hung around their house. She does what she can to avoid being rude. She greets her new friends an le...more

"One Grave at a Time" by Jeaniene Frost is so filled with action and suspense that you will not be able to set the book down for one minute. Aaaaaah *smells the book* the sweet smell of one of my favorite drugs. I’m addicted to this series. And I have a major crush on Bones. There I said it! So imagine how excited I was about this. Hell I was counting down the days until it got released. *sigh* I kind of regret it now.
The score I’m going to give it will be a bit cruel. I really wanted to give it a perfect one but I can’t. It doesn’t compare to the previous ones. *prays* Please don’t ruin another series for me! I’ve already have a cou...more

I have been looking forward to this book for ages, I am a HUGMONGOUS fan of this series, Cat and Bones are one of my favorite couples and well, you all know how I feel about Bones....*trails off into a day dream involving silk ties, whipped cream and big fangs* Anyway, so I was looking forward to this book, but for me it didn't quite reach 5 stars.

I didn't like it. I didn't hate it. I did expect more. Part of the allure of this series is the great cast of characters: Cat and Bones and their amazing secondary characters - Ian, Spade, Mencheres, Marie, and Justine. This book fell flat for me. Once again, I found myself with the dreaded book ADHD. I constantly put down the book and did other stuff. I never did that with the earlier books.

One Grave at a Time is book six in one of my favorite paranormal series. What I love is that Jeaniene Frost has given us a series where the hero and heroine has had a very strong relationship since book one. Okay, maybe they had some time apart between book one and book two (four years, but who is counting?) but for the most part these two have been a couple. They have had their ups and their very big downs, but Jeaniene Frost has made their relationship fresh and engaging in each book. She has...more
Oh, how I missed Cat and Bones! I always feel like I'm home when getting back to their world and I absolutely love that; Jeaniene is one of my absolute favorite authors! Sadly, like the last two books, One Grave at a Time didn't quite manage to blow my mind, but it was anything but bad.
I always loved books that make you feel and boy did this one succeed; it's not often that I'm this frustrated when reading a book, but even when it's annoying to have to take breaks from reading to stop myself fr...more

Cat and Bones are back for another round of supernatural smackdown, this time with the crazy ghost of Heinrich Krammer, a former witch hunter who becomes corporeal on Halloween night and burns innocent women to death. Many of our favorite characters return to help out like my favorite Ian along with Spade and Denise and Cat's mom. Mencheres and Kira do not make an appearance sadly.

ONE GRAVE AT A TIME was everything and more after my slight disappointment with the last book. I think I didn't realize how much I actually missed Cat and Bones until I started reading this book and then my love came back blasting in at full speed. Cat and Bones are back again this time are trying to capture a bad guy who is already dead and the question that arises is how are you suppose to kill someone that is already dead.

I own every book Jeaniene Frost has written. I Love Cat and Bones. The first four books in the series are just plain old awesome. The last book (5) was just OK, it wasn't great, but it wasn't bad. I think I rated it four stars, but more of 3.5. This latest book--One Grave at a Time, just wasn't that good. I'm sorry to say it, because I really love Ms. Frost, and I don't want to insult her hard work, but I owe it to my blog readers to put aside my personal feelings towards the author, and give my...more
One Grave at a Time picks up immediately after the ending of This Side of the Grave, as Cat deals with the aftermath of her new gift and we see how she's adjusted to a life in which she's surrounded by a crowd of ghostly groupies - ground rules are a must, as you can imagine. Quickly a gaggle of ghosts are the least of her problems, since a favor to her ghost friend Fabian has Cat tracking down a powerful malevolent witch hunter's ghost who has continued his hunt past the grave and she only has...more
Cat and Bones still got it!! They are perfect together. While I was a little sad at the lack of sex in this book the rest of the story was still awesome.
We know when we read a Night Huntress book we are going into some crazy situation where Cat and Bones will kick some ass and save the day. But the bad guy here comes with a twist, he's a ghost and well trying to kill a ghost when its pretty much just vapor is not so easy. The gang gets together including my all time favorite Ian!! Hmmm, this one is stuck right in the middle of three and four stars and neither fit! All the things we love about this series are present - just not a whole novels worth.
I love Cat and Bones and, unlike others, I love their relationship in this book. Rather than all the drama between them, their's is a solid yet deepening relationship with a love so strong it's palpable. That is wonderfully refreshing and encouraging. Cat and Bones are back and their relationship is better than ever but danger is never far for this vampire duo. This time though, their enemy is something that they can’t even see to fight. How do you kill a creature that has no corporeal body?

oh good! it was better than the last one. i actually understood what was going on! ....i think i have a problem with ghosts. i just don't find them that interesting. two books revolving around ghosts is enough for me, i really hope the next one is different. especially in the Bones and Vlad department. and yeah, throw in some more Ian too.

Cat and Bones relationship is a sexy unbreakable bond. The forces of ghosts try to break them, torture and kill. Love and belief in each other always works for them. Too bad they aren't the only ones involved, snoopy government jerks, crazy dead folks and screaming women interfere . Not as intense as previous books in the series for me. A nice easy continuation of the series.
Oh what do I say about the genius that is jeanine frost? I've loved the night huntress since the first time I opened the first one and within 24 hours I consumed 3 books hungry for more I turned to my supplier( my sister) and she gave the next ones, Cat is one of my favourite characters of all time, her wit, her charm, her potty mouth, this instalment does not disappoint, it has everything you expect from a night huntress book, the wit, the banter, Bones, the hots , oh yeah and the story not bad...more
