Tough as nails Alexandra Trevalyn does what most people can’t: She kills werewolves. Once part of an elite group of hunters, she’s going rogue these days, though no less determined to rid the world of bloodthirsty beasts…once and for all. That’s why Alex had no choice but to kill Julian Barlow’s wife—and will have to pay the price. Julian’s brand of vengeance is downright...more

It was very different than the other books. When my sister first read it I was a little wary of what she told me, maybe I wouldn't like it. So, I put it off until last night and I have to admit I loved it! It has to be my favorite in the series so far. Alex and Julian fight and are constantly at each others throats but neither can deny the passion between then and the ever growing bond. It was a great book kept me guessing the whole way though and I never saw the ending coming!!! Can't wait to r...more

Other than Moon Cursed (which while it is a Nightcreature book, it isn't a werewolf tale) I think this is my favorite in the Nightcreature series at least until Crave the Moon comes out (well see if this stays my fav). Spoiler alert!! Who knew there could be a whole village of werewolves who are good unlike their demon-ridden brethen that Edward is always after (other than Elise and the wolves she's cured). This tale just goes to show you that while revengence may best be served cold, watch out...more

Alex is a werewolf hunter, trained by her Jäger-Sucher father after her mother was killed by a werewolf. She's hunted on her own after her father is also killed by a werewolf. Julian is the head of a group of werewolves he's created, but unlike most other werewolves, his group doesn't believe in killing.

Julian has hunted Alex since she killed his gentle wife and turns her when finding her. He plans on leaving her alone to suffer while learning `the other side' but finds he can't leave her behind...more

MARKED BY THE MOON by Lori Handeland is a fantastic paranormal romantic suspense novel set in modern day Alaska. It is well written with great details, depth, twists, turns, a page turner and a keeper. It is "A Nightcreature Novel". It has romance, sensuality, werewolves, murder, some wit, family, brotherhood, primal passions, bloodthirsty beasts, soul mates, human to wolf, wickedness, trying to find peace in a world of wickedness, hope, redemption, secrets and shadows. The characters are intriguing...more

In Lori Handeland's "Marked by the Moon," the latest release in the "Nightcreature Novel" series, Handeland begins with a systematic execution of an unquestionably evil werewolf by rogue hunter Alexandra Trevalyn. Her weapon of choice is a gun loaded with silver bullets. After a crude exchange, Alex shoots, and a blaze erupts as the bullets pierce the skin (a common side effect when silver meets wolf).

When Alex finishes her assignment, she is confro...more

I'm so annoyed -- I wrote a long (and brilliant, of course!) review and Goodreads apparently ate it *scowls*

So let's try this again!

So I saw this new release on Amazon yesterday and snagged it for my Kindle based on the synopsis. It wasn't until I was a couple chapters into it that I realized that it was the newest novel in a series that I started but never finished! Doh!

However, it turned out fine, because while there wasn't a big info dump at the beginning like some authors *cough*Jayne Castle...more

Yum! I love me some Lori Handeland books! And altho MBTM is quite different from previous Nightcreature novels, Lori's captivating style of writing kept me up all night reading (again). Today, as I read another PNR book, I kept flashing back to elements of Marked, which influenced my other reading. And I wished that she would do a spin-off from the Nightcreature village with its new Alpha(s), because I'm not ready to let the characters go yet!

Alexandra Trevalyn (I love her name!) use to be a Jag...more

Inhalt:

Nun ste...more

There was a long wait of nearly three years between this book and the previous release in the series. After the wait, it took me a while to pick this one up. I had vague memories of what the previous books were about and didn't feel heavily invested in the series anymore. The good news is Marked by the Moon doesn't rely heavily on previous characters and the world building is well covered to allow this to be a stand-alone. The bad news, the pull of the moon was weak, leaving me less than...more

If your whole existence was killing werewolves and you suddenly became one but no one would kill you to put you out of your misery what would you do? If your whole mission in life was to torture and then kill the woman that had killed your wife but you find instead that desire overrules that mission, what would you do? If a killer was out there, stalking both of you...would you allow the things that divide you to separate you even more or would you bond together and fight for survival? This book...more

Alexandra Trevalyn is strong and sharp and does what most people can't: She kills werewolves. Once upon a time, she was part of an elite band of hunters, but she's rogue now, but still just as determined to rid the world of the bloodthirsty monsters. Alex had no choice but to kill Julian Barlow's wife and now she must pay for that decision. Julian is downright vicious in his plan, and turns Alex into a member of his own pack. It's just a matter of time before Alex falls under Julian's spell. Now...more

Marked by the Moon is the 9th book in the series "Nightcreatures". Lori Handeland has been one of my favorite authors for several years now.

She provides the reader with likeable characters and strong backstories. There is always some humor and she doesn't fill the pages with too much eroticism, which (IMO) can take away from a good story.

In this book, our hero Julian has lost his beloved wife to a no-nonsense werewolf hunter named Alexandra. Julian has the chance to kill Alex but instead decides...more

This is the first boook I have read by Lori Handeland and found it different and page moving. The main characters are Alexandra Trevalyn and Julian Barlow and the electricity between them is very emotional. Alex is trying to klill werewolves and find the killer of her father. She, as her father, belongs to the Jager-Sucher, whose main purpose is to kill the werewolves. Juilan Barlow is the alpha or leader of werewolves who live in Alaska. He makes werewolves, who accept the change, and they are...more

i really really enjoyed this book!! I really loved that this story showed the world of werewolves, rather than the world of the hunters as the rest of the Nightcreatures series mostly dwelled on.

Alexandra is a werewolf hunter, who used to work for the Jager- Suchers, but decides to go "rogue" and hunt werewolves on her own without the help of this elite government regulated group. Years ago, her father was killed by a werewolf, and ever since she's wanted to see each and everyone of them good a...more

Loved this, another well-done werewolf romance from Lori Handeland. Glad that after an agonizing wait to see if this series would continue or not, that it picked right back up at awesome. A slight few things hold it back from being off the charts, but it seems few paranormal romances can forgo the cliches of the genre anymore. Other than that, this was sexy, fun, funny and a terrific weekend read. Buying the next Handeland ASAP! Thank goodness she was able to get back to this series!

As usual, Handeland gives us a spunky, mouthy heroine (Alex) who's a real pain to the hero but fun to read. In Marked by the Moon the hero (Julian) is a strong character with powers unique to the Nightcreature novels.
This is Handeland's first Nightcreature book in which she uses the hero's POV as well as the heroine's, and I really enjoyed getting Julian's perspective. Thank you, Lori!

Lost interest. While I appreciate a strong female lead, I'm growing weary of the ones who are constantly reaching for their weapons, threatening others, showing off how tough they are constantly. I GET IT. You're a force to be reckoned with... Somebody besides me will have to do the reckoning.

I liked this one a lot. Very sensual, very humorous, a great chemistry between the characters. The only reason I don't give it 5 stars is because the ending felt rushed. Apart from that: I absolutely recommend it to any paranormal romance lover with a thing for funny banter between characters.

This was a great book. I liked it very much. There was humor, suspense/mystery, self-discovery, and emotions that came across well. It had some new point of views and blood hopping (I couldn't get that out of my head for some reason, it's either really weird or really funny). This was my first book of the series and I will definitely read the rest of the series. Enjoy Very Much

4.5 stars. This was my first full length Nightcreatures novel and I was very pleased. I really enjoyed the story. I had a hard time putting the book down. Can't wait to read the rest!

I got this thinking it was part of a different series about werewolves that also have moon in all the titles. No big, I'll read this and if I like it will go back and do the series.

I haven't read the entire series, but its pretty decent. I enjoyed the chemistry and the love hate, i wanna screw your brains out, but otherwise it was pretty blah for me.
Anne
An okay read, an interesting new kind of werewolf, but doesn't really further the series arc very much. If you're looking for a romance this is a book for you.
Grace
I had been looking forward to Handeland's return to the Nightcreature novels, but sadly I was disappointed. While the novel is entertaining, it is a standard romance, and it does not live up to the previous books in the series.

this book to me is a WOW. i've read it like over 10 times because thats how good it is to me.

Just started reading this book, but I don't know if I'm going to like it. It seems like a carbon copy of everything else out there.
Jackie
I'm so glad Handeland is writing her werewolf books again since I couldn't get into her urban fantasy series.
Nina
From one of my favorite series and yay vikings.
