The first third of this book was amazing. I thought, "I have found another brilliant YA author who is HILARIOUS that I can now Google relentlessly and stalk online!" Really, the beginning of the book was hysterical. I was laughing out loud at least once per page.
Then the book got a lot more laborious for one of two possible reasons. I am still not sure which one it was. Possibility #1 is that the book actually got worse and gradually started to suck more and more until it dwindled to a logical y...more

Okay so I know the title might sound really weird, and like if you have messed up mind like me, you'll be thinking like WTH?! But really, I read the first chapter or do at the library and just fell in love with the book, its so funny and great! Alex Bradley literally made me laugh a LOT and the story is just so cute! I cannot simply express how much I love this book. I have read this novel at least - at least - twenty times and still laugh, still have those "aww" moments, still identify with and adore the lead character, Jack Grammar. It's a book about growing up, falling in love, learning life's shitty lessons, and that's just in high school.
The narrative is hilarious! Jack's thoughts are random, some may even call it spastic, but yet still easy to follow. He's funny and dorky in a way that makes you love...more

There are few things in this world sadder than Jack Grammar’s love life. Though he’s cute, smart, and funny--three qualities that should equal “chick magnet,”--he’s also hopelessly awkward and geeky. Now it’s his senior prom, something he’s dreamed about since his sisters dressed up and made him play “prom” with them, and he wants a date. So his friends Percy and Natalie try to help him out by putting out a personal ad in the school newspaper. Soon, he has nearly 150 responses to the ad. So one...more
With senior year here and many things to do, nothing will ever be more important than prom! By a friend’s suggestion, I picked up this book hoping to think that book was just any normal book but of course, it wasn’t. We are greeted with a senior boy named Jack Grammar who tries to find a date but couldn’t.
Jack Grammar, a typical high school senior wants to make his high school experience perfect but in order for him to achieve this, he has find a date for prom. For many people out there, findin...more

Title: 24 Girls in 7 Days
Author: Alex Bradley
I wasn't exactly impressed by this book. It was unrealistic and the things that happened to the guy were just not impressive.
His two best friends went on the school website and posted a personal ad about finding a date for this guy for the senior prom. He was having the time of his life after hearing from his friends that few hundred of girls signed up to go on a date with him. He started planning to go out with multiple girls in a night when prom...more

Blah, blah, blah. It was an okay book. Truthfully, I was entertained for the first part. Eh, maybe about... the first twenty to fifty pages or so. *Shrugs* But to be quite frank and honest, this book wasn't that big of a deal. You read it, it's over, you're done and move on. Nothing memorable, nothing that wasn't predictable. It's like that time-old movie that you see on TV that's been rehashed with just a different set of characters to fill the same stereotypical roles time and time again. Was...more
The first time I saw this book, my thoughts were: "Hmm, seems a little playerific for me. Misogynistic, in fact."
Fast forward a few weeks. Being in a library for two hours will make you very willing to read a seemingly...disturbing book. And that age old statement comes to mind...Never judge a book by its cover. Which wasn't intended literally...but that's how I took it.
So, I start reading. And it's not bad. Not horrible, anyway. Jack turns out to be a sweet, slightly dorky/nerdy kid. And his fr...more

The story of this young man's friends' effort to get him a date for prom reminded my of Ferris Bewler's Day Off. Bewler's friend gets the help whether he wants it or not--same as Jack here--and is enlighted by the end--same as Jack here. The book rises above the average tween fare with sparks of wonderful humor, well-drawn characters, and apparent knowledge of teenagers by the author. It gets three stars simply because it is just a nice read. The real problem is the male protagonist of the story...more
Jack Grammar wants nothing more than to go to the prom with his dream girl Pamela. But when he blows his chance, his best friends Natalie and Percy take matters into their own hands. They place an ad in the school paper declaring what a great prom date Jack would make. What started out as a semi-joke turns into to a full fledge date-a-thon with the many applicants vying for Jack's affection and chance to go to prom. The situation seems like every guys dream, but Jack isn't having much fun. In fa...more
24 Girls in 7 Days is a funny and romantic novel written by Alex Bradley. In the novel, the protagonist, Jack Grammar is on a quest to find a date for prom. It all starts when he asks his high school crush to prom but gets turned down. To cheer him up and find him a prom date, his best friends Natalie and Percy, who already have dates, go behind his back and clandestinely create a personalized ad for Jack on the school’s website stating his search for a date to prom. At first Jack opposes to th...more
This book I must say was hilarious. I mean it was one of those books that I couldn't put down. I hope that the situations that happen in this book don't happen in my senior year at high school, but of course it would be kind of fun to go on 24 dates with 24 different girls just to see what they like and such. Not that I am saying that I would do that or anything, and the whole time this takes place in only 7 days. This is a bit bizzare. Some of the dates weren't long at all, maybe 15 minutes, bu...more
I was really surprised by the ending of this book because I actually thought that Jack Grammar would have chosen a date out of all the girls that were on the list, but he didn't. Instead, he decided to go with Mrs. K, which was also really sweet, but I also feel bad for all the girls that he rejected. In the beginning of the book, Jack's friends wanted to help him get a date to the prom so they posted an ad on their school website and a couple of girls replied, but then his friends bribed other...more
Jack Grammar doesn’t have prom date. As a joke, his friends post a personal ad in the school newspaper, but girls do answer it. Now he has to narrow down the list. This was a fast, fun read. There were parts that made me laugh out loud, but It is your typical YA lit prom book. Smart nerdy boy needs a date, although it was refreshingly written from the boy’s perspective. The character of Jack seems realistic, but to me the rest of the characters are rather stereotypical. The “dates” Jack goes on...more
This book is about a senior and his lack of experience with ladies. After seeing that he is shy his friends set him up with 24 girls to chose fro to go to prom with. Throughout all of this he learned a lot about people and himself.I liked this book because it showed a change in the character over a period of time. He changed from being shy and lonely to being outgoing and gaining some friends as well as some enemies.I learned that meeting new people could both be a good and bad thing. The main th...more

My booktalk:
"Jack hasn't had a serious date during his whole high school career! With the senior prom coming up, his friends decide to help him out. They send a letter to the school newspaper supposedly signed by him asking for help finding a date. This sets up a hilarious scenario of girls dropping by everywhere he happens to be. “24 Girls in 7 Days”
For first quarter, I read the book “24 Girls in 7 Days”. It was overall a pretty good book with some funny and interesting situations. It’s about Jack Grammer, a senior in high school and needs a date really bad. His friends end up posting an ad online saying that he needs the perfect date. He doesn’t think that the add will go well but he ends up getting over 30 comments from a lot of girls. So Jack and his friends have to narrow things down a bit to 24 girls. Now all he has...more

Rejected by the prom date of his dreams, Jack scoffs at the idea that anyone will respond to a personal ad placed by his friends, Natalie and Percy. When an overwhelming number of girls respond, Jack has only seven days to figure out whom to take.
Yea! A pop fiction teen book with some tension that doesn't automatically give away the mystery/ending. There were some parts I really liked (see quote below) and some parts that were OK. I think plenty of teens will like the premise and I know they'll...more

the book 24 girls in 7 days, this book starts out with a comical tone which I like. I can easy relate to this book because the character jack is the guy in high school that there is really nothing wrong with him except maybe he lacks a few communication skills and when he does try to ask a girl he like to the prom he gets her to go from a yes to a no in like thirty seconds which is sad because he was so scared that she picked up on his nervousness. So then his friends decide that he needs a litt...more
SWM high school guy looking for that special someone on prom night. NS, in great shape (avid runner), a little too smart for his own good. Will you be the one to wear his corsage?
A fun, lighthearted book with some romance from a guy's POV. Lots of humor, good character growth, non-pat ending.
Only one thing dates this book, which was published in 2006. Jack's friend, Natalie, still has dial up, which I realize is still around (especially in rural areas), but Natalie's family is rich and would've...more

Probably wouldn't Recommend this Book; MAYBE to a Dorky Teen Boy or Fluffy Girls
The plot of this book was ok but very predictable. I found the main character to be very annoying (nobody is like that, especially a boy). He finds everything “endearing.” For example: “She had…a nose that had been broken twice and now was slightly crooked—about the coolest nose I’d ever seen. What?! He also thinks that a tall girl who stands hunched over is “endearing.” The book had a heavy touchy feely message and a warm fuzzy ending which didn’t seem to go with the rest of the book and less l...more
This book was really interesting if you are currently a high school student. It makes you interact with the characters in the book because they are all different since it is in high school. I'm pretty sure if you do not usually read long books, this book will have you turning pages because of they way the characters talk and interact with each other. It may be even helpful with tips when you go on a date with a girl since that is what the book is mostly about. Overall I recommend this book for...more
I really wanted this book to be funny and quick, but I found myself skimming it. This is the story of Jack Grammar, who is smart and cute, but very inexperienced with girls. His best friends place an ad in the school paper offering a date to prom with him. The response is huge, and he soon gets overwhelmed at having to choose.
I feel like the story was convoluted. I couldn't tell what direction it was going. I also didn't feel like the characters were fleshed out very well. And the true "love of...more

Jack Grammar, average American senior, has no date to the prom. Or so he thinks. Percy and Natalie, Jack's so-called best friends, posted an ad in the classified section of the online version of the school newspaper. They figured it couldn't hurt-after all, there's not much in this world sadder than Jack's love life. Soon Percy and Natalie have assembled a list of girls eager to go to the prom with Jack, including one mysterious girl known only as FancyPants. He has just seven days to meet and d...more
24 Girls in 7 Days was a good and fast read. It was about a high school senior named Jack Grammar who needed a prom date. His best friends made an online ad to advertise Jack as dateless. Several girls responded to the ad so Jack's friends made a list of 24 girls and gave him 7 days to choose a date. It was told from Jack's point of view and in sort of a nostalgtic tone. I whish i could say more, but i am afraid of giving away the ending.
