For a debut novel Texas Roads is an absolute gem! I really loved every bit of it from the crazy hairdresser to the hunky rancher, and even the "old geezers." Cathy Bryant sure knows Texas and small town life. I myself am a small town girl so I know what small town livin' is and I KNOW that there are no secrets to be kept when everybody knows everybody! I certainly know about grumpy ol' curmudgeons too...but don't ask, LOL read the story and you will see what I'm talking about!

As for the romance

When I got to the end of Texas Roads, I had to flip to the back cover to confirm that I had remembered correctly -- that this was indeed Cathy's debut novel -- and I was right. All I can say is, WOW! I am very impressed! Congrats to Cathy, for an excellent introduction into the Christian Fiction world. I can't wait to read the 2nd installment of your Miller Creek series!

It was refreshing to read something a little different from what I've been 'forced' to read lately (my own fault). The kind fol

I was lucky enough to be allowed to review this book before it came out. I am not one who likes mushy romance. Therefore this book was one I really enjoyed. Dani came from a privileged life yet here she was running to some hick town to visit an aunt she didn't even know. Running out of gas she is lucky enough to get picked up by Steve, a very handsome man who is also the mayor of Miller's Creek. Steve and Dani immediately get off on the wrong foot. They prejudge each other. This is made worse by ...more

Why is it that we're prejudiced against self-published books? Is it because many self-published books aren't as good or as polished as those published in the mainstream? Perhaps. But, as we all know, there are a lot of duds published by large, well-known publishing houses, too.

Texas Roads was a pleasant surprise. I enjoyed the story and the characters. Each time I had to put the book down because of life and children, I kept wanting to get back to the story as soon as I could. Steve and Dani ar

Texas Roads does not disappoint. There are enough secrets in this intriguing debut novel by Cathy Bryant to keep any mystery lover turning pages. Dani Davis has lost her father and the husband she’s just discovered was cheating on her. She never really fit into her wealthy family’s glitzy lifestyle, and she doesn’t get along with her socialite mother. So she leaves Dallas and sets off to meet Mama Beth, her mother’s small town sister.

On the approach to Miller’s Creek, her sports car runs out of

I have to give kudos to Cathy on her debut novel! What a beautifully written story about faith, compassion, and perserverance. At least that is what it meant to me.
Though the leading character, Dani, thought she had no faith in the beginning I believe it was there all along. She just couldn't see it. Once she saw her own faith, and believed in HIM, she knew happiness again.
Dani goes through a lot in this story, and right along with her, you empathize. Though I admit, at the start of the story, I

This debut novel shows just how much talent Cathy Bryant has. She wrote this novel with the skill of a veteran, best-selling author. Had I not known that this was her debut novel, I would have earnestly been looking for other books by this sweet & amazingly talented lady!

This review is a little bit different. I had the pleasure of reading the first five chapters of this charming story as an influencer before it was published and released to the public, to which I endorsed it. I had an enorm

Vividly descriptive, Texas Roads by Cathy Bryant takes the reader to Miller's Creek and into the lives of its inhabitants. Dani is looking to escape her mother and her memories in Dallas and decides against her mother's wishes to go visit her Aunt Beth, a woman she hardly knows. Dani's arrival into Miller's Creek is not a smooth one, especially her encounter with Steve Miller, as Dani soon learns there is something special to the very small town of Miller's Creek and contemplates

Review of Texas Roads, book one of the Miller’s Creek Series by Cathy Bryant
c. 2010

Cathy Bryant’s debut novel, Texas Roads, is a journey on many levels. Danielle Davis searches for family ties and in the process, learns who her true Father is. Steve Miller searches for a way to save his town from the affects of slow decay and learns to face his deepest fears.

What fun to create a town, as Bryant has done. Miller’s Creek, Texas, is people with an eclectic collection of characters who remind us of

MY REVIEW:

Attention Ladies! Not many fiction books around here get awarded with 5 Stars. However, this is one that did and now I want to tell you all about it!

When Cathy Bryant asked if I would consider reading and reviewing her book, Texas Roads, I was not quick to take the offer. I have quite a stack to get through and wasn't sure if I should take the time to add a fiction title to my pile or not. But something in what Cathy wrote to me grabbed my attention and made me say "yes" and now, well

The author is new to me as this id the first book by Cathy Bryant I've read and I really liked the book. It keep me hooked with the storyline and I don't know what gave it away, the real relationship between Mama Beth and Dani but I just guessed it. I loved Dani found her home in the end and the whole plot line. I just didn't connected with the chemistry between Steve and Dani but I don't mind, I liked the story and how they grew to like each other.

Texas Roads is by Cathy Bryant. It is a Miller’s Creek novel.
Dani has come to Miller’s Creek in hopes of making this her home and finding her birth parents. She and her Mother have had disagreements in the past; but this one is the worst. Dani has lost her adoptive father, her husband, been betrayed, and is now the CEO of her father’s business. In spite of this, she has never felt she belonged. Maybe her Aunt Mona Beth can help her. For now Dani is stuck on a farm road after having run out of g

We are introduced to Dani Davis who I found somewhat exasperating at first, but as I got to know her I found what a truly wonderful, young woman she was. As the story opens Dani is on spring break from her teaching job in Dallas and is headed to Miller Creek to reconnect with her aunt. She has a complicated and distant relationship with her mother and what she really wants is to find someone she can connect with. It has been a stressful year for her with the unexpected death of her father and a

Texas Roads is about second chances, discovering fulfillment, finding a home and starting over. It deals with many issues that contemporary women and men encounter—death of a loved one, adoption, friendships, and changing economic situations.

Texas Roads is the first in the Miller’s Creek series. Miller’s Creek is a wonderful little town, where everyone knows and cares about everyone else—and their business--which can sometimes cause unfounded rumors and conclusions based on very little fact.

They come together with a few secrets between them but in the end all works out well. A family secret twist also in the midst of this book. So i gave it 4 stars...it was really good.

Very touching, heartfelt book

I love this book by Cathy Bryant. A book about Dani whose father died and she also lost her husband. Although, there was more pain that she was going through. She went to visit her Aunt, whom she called Mama Beth. Her mother was against her going, which she did not understand why. She met Steve who was like a son to Mama Beth and she met the town's people who she fell in love with. The story continues with love, secrets, hardships, lies, destruction, among other thin

Sweet story

If you like Christian Fiction, then you will like this interesting story of coming back to your roots. I enjoyed the interaction of the main characters and it was well-written. The small town feel was nice and soothing. The characters had flaws and misunderstandings that added a good bit of tension to the story.

If there was anything I disliked, it was just a preference of mine that the religious message should've been more subtle, but that is just a small thing that is all about me a

The author did a remarkable job of developing her characters in the book's storyline. Dani's search for a sense of home and community mirrored her struggle for faith. Mama Beth's and Steve's attempts to help Dani impacted their relationships. The drama was enriched by Dani's attempts to reconcile her estranged relationship with Mother Cecile while maintaining independent decisions. I loved the sense of community in the midst of small-town life. I am anxious to read the Miller's Creek next book a ...more

Generally the reviews I write are on books that have been recently published – usually within the past year or two. But this book is the beginning of where things all started in a small town called Miller’s Creek. The books are actually all stand-alone but there are characters that do overlap from book to book so you do get to know the residents of the town.

Dani Davis has travelled to Miller’s Creek to visit her aunt whom she barely knows but comes to love quite quickly. Dani thinks Miller’s Cre

The creativity and skill in how the author handles that plot can make or break the book. Unique characters and settings as well as clever tweaks are also essential. The story is a sweet romance, a searching heart and a moving story of God’s love all rolled up into one.

I’m so thankful for the review copy of Cathy Bryant’s heart warming, debut novel. I’ve never been to Texas but I’d love to go to Miller’s Creek, a quaint little town, with its friendly neighbors, beauty, innocence and fun. It reminded me of the town of Mayberry in the Andy Griffith T.V. shows. It was a quieter, simpler life back then. Texas Roads by Cathy Bryant is a good read about wealthy widow who longs for a “home” and Texas mayor/rancher. Dani has never felt like loved by her parents who were more interested in their place in society. Dani goes to Miller’s Creek to meet her aunt from whom her mother is estranged. The town of Millers Creek is attempting to revamp and bring people to town but needs funding. Most of the story was more or less predictable but it was well written and I enjoyed reading it.
