This book was a plethora of interesting and entertaining data. I was enthralled from start to finish with all the behind-the-scene accounts of some of the celebrities we have come to know and love. I found myself becoming a walking celebrity encyclopedia as I reiterated to everyone the things I had read.

This is one of the best books concerning Hollywood that a reader can find. The author offers a complete tour with large amounts of research and a humorous writing style. The reader can genuinely "hear" the author's voice through his writing, it feels a bit reminiscent of sitting around a campfire listening to anecdotes.

Hollywood Stories is a fun book to read. True to its title, it is chock-full of entertaining anecdotes about the stars and legends of the movies and TV shows. It is a backstage pass, so to speak, a window behind the scenes of the actors, directors, writers and producers that paint another picture of who they are. Since I was very young, I have had a fascination with Hollywood--especially old Hollywood. I used to watch old movies and check out biographies of various actors and actresses I liked. This was before the days of the internet, and the library files were on paper and in pull-out files. I had to go through the difficult process of requesting books about these actors/actresses. I was initially really excited to read this book...I am a big fan of celeb magazines, blogs, etc. However, I couldn't really get into this book. It might be because a lot of the stories are about movie and television stars from before my time, or it might be because the writing doesn't draw the reader in, or it might be the lack of connections/transitions.

The author is a professional tour guide in Hollywood, so we know he has heard some great stories! From telling them to his audience day after day, Stephen Schochet decided to write them down. Gosh, I am glad he did! The book contains many intriguing tales about actors, actresses, directors, and stars. Just think of TMZ online, or ENews!

Our tour bus driver -- who also happened to be the author -- was selling this book during the tour. Schochet is a storyteller, both in writing and verbally with his tour vignettes, and I enjoyed both the tour and reading the book itself. The short, amusing vignettes, mostly behind-the-scene stories from Hollywood, the kind that you'd most likely hear from insider friends during a round of beers are funny and easy to remember, ideal for ice breakers and conversation starters.

his book was a quick light hearted read. The stories are nice and short and give you a quick and sometimes funny look into the lives of the stars that we idolize. I loved all the interesting facts and the bonus "extras" after the stories. These stories also show you that even though the stars are famous and we may idolize them they are still just regular people that are trying to live their lives the best they can. I read this for Ever After pr. When this book was offered I jumped up on it and was one of the first to sign up! Being a girl in love with the old films and the old time actors/actresses this seemed like the book for me.

I am so very glad that I signed up for this book tour. This is not a book that I would normally choose for myself. Yet, I enjoyed it immensely.
Imagine Tinseltown in its heyday. When movie stars were glamorous, mysterious, and extremely underpaid by today's standards. So, I've finally finished this one. I've had it on my bedside table since the beginning of October, so it's been a long read.
The format of short anecdotes, most of them filling about a third of a page, implies to me that the book should be read in bursts, maybe two - four pages at a time. That way I can savour the stories and dwell on them for a while.

This book is a collection of a bunch of little short stories about actors or directors and their work. Some are veterns that have passed on, and some are still in the business.
I had really high hopes for this book. Unfortunately I was disappointed. There are some stories that made me giggle, some laugh out loud. For the most part however, most just fell flat.

Stephen Schochet has worked as a Hollywood tour guide for a number of years. Hollywood Stories collects what he's learned and presents them in short vignettes organized by topic. As an introduction to some of the popular lore of the movie industry, it's fine.

Full of fun, serious, entertaining and educational reads! This was a great book to read "about the stars". It depicts them as the real people they are, their personalities and their every day life. It is not a magazine article or paparazzi hashing. Its real people that happen to be famous! I enjoyed it!
This book is filled with all kinds of gossip and trivia that is sheer entertainment. I've no doubt the author was an incredible tour guide. True or not, they are fun to read. Like a Reader's Digest, I would place this book in the category of "Squat and Chuckle." In other words, perfect bathroom book.
I thoroughly enjoyed the captivating stories in Hollywood Stories. Each anecdote starts with the story itself, then adds in two or three "extras" which relate to the story. Some of these stories were familiar to me, but many were surprising. These stories are sometimes inspirational, sometimes humorous and always entertaining. The main reason I picked up this book was for the challenge, a different way to read short stories. I was a little disappointed by the lack of current stars stories in the book. Although entertained by the stories and quips of the past, I was hoping it would be a mix of past and present. That it wasn't. A Goodreads Firstread win! The title says it all "Hollywood Stories: Short Entertaining Anecdotes about the Stars and Legends of the Movies!" Mostly old Hollywood and with some new Hollywood thrown in. Very enjoyable read!
