The Bible is the Word of life. As such, studying the Bible is crucial to the life and growth of every believer. In this revised work, John MacArthur examines various Scripture passages in the Old and New Testament to answer both the "why" and the "how" questions of Bible study.

I bought this book because I know anything by this author is going to be good. However, I did go into reading this book with the expectation that it would be the nuts and bolts of how to study the Bible; like tips and how-to's of what to do to get the most out of your daily Bible reading. While there were many tips and practical suggestions, this book was way beyond a simple self-help book. Dr. MacArthur digs deep, yet in a simple way, of how to study the Bible. From the why we should study, to...more
First published in 1982, this revision’s core message remains intact: God’s Word is to be studied, understood, and applied by His people so that they may grow into a deeper relationship with their Creator and Savior. To that end, MacArthur examines what the Bible is, why it can be trusted, and offers practical advice on how to study it. He provides a good balance of encouragement and conviction regarding the role of Scripture in Christians’ lives.
This is a wonderful educational book for me to read and learn a lot more how to study the Bible which is very important to me. I am going to do what he encourage us to do. That will be a wonderful challenge for me. I am looking forward to do that in the New Year on Jan 1st after my Daily Bible Reading and others Bible Study that I had been doing.
I am going through this book with the Junior High Girls at my church. It has been so helpful to challenge them. The concepts are pretty basic and easy for them to understand. It helps back up why we should do quiet times. All of us can relate to the fact that it is easier to do something regularly if you know the reason for it.

This book really should have been called "Why to study the Bible". If that was what it was called I would give it 5 stars. It was a great book, but didn't really help me out on the topic.

This book was basically an introduction of how to study the Bible.
The last chapter held most of the meat of the book, into which I was
hoping he would dig deeper. But, it was a good, easy, quick read.
