A peculiar book about a rich lady named Bibi Branchwater who wants two of everything. She was friendless until she bought a jewelry box with two sad-faced ballerinas. But with nurturing, love and care, she is eventually makes a sad situation a happy one.

A rich woman likes two of everything, but doesn't have even one friend. She goes on a world adventure with her little jewel box ballerinas to find something worthwhile.

The illustrations were okay (not my favorite), but they fit very nicely with the silly tone of the book. My 3 year old had to read it over and over, she loves it.

The story of a woman who could buy everything she wanted except friends and she learns that you cannot buy friendship when she has to search for her two twin ballerinas.

A very rich woman buys a jewelery box with twin ballerinas inside. The ballerinas won't smile, and so the rich lady does everything in her power to make them smile. She takes them on a trip to Africa, and while there accidentally loses them. She cries out that she would give up everything she has to get them back. The ballerinas are found and turn into real little girls. The illustrations are a bit dark and very realistic, so best to use with older kids.

Even though this is a long one to read aloud, the kiddos still sat pretty rapt in attention. Story of a materialistic woman obsessed with the multiple of 2, who has her icy manner slowly melted by sad-eyed twin ballerinas figures.

Did I mention there were ballerinas?
