I really, really enjoyed this book. It is incredibly sexy, with a lot of very well-written sex scenes that don't feel at all gratuitous. The plot kept my interest until the very end, and the romance developed at a very nice pace; it started off with sex and attraction and grew into something more. I appreciate that kind of romance a lot more than the love-at-first-sight or soulmates clichés. The characters are nicely-developed (though I would like to have seen a bit more about Jack, the main...more

This was a fun, sexy, quick read with some refreshingly original details.

Mira is a waitress six months out from her messy divorce. Her parents are long dead and she was raised by her godmother, Annie. According to her parents' last wishes, she was raised in ignorance of her true heritage: she is a witch, powerful in the element of air, the rarest of the four elements.

Then handsome fire witch Jack McAllister comes crashing into her life, rescuing her from an attempted abdu...more

I had a hard time with the pace of the book. It wasn't awful - but I felt like the "parts" weren't really balanced correctly and that the end was a little rushed and unsatisfying in some ways. That aside I enjoyed the book very much. I like the main character Mira for the most part (although you would think having grown up Wiccan she would be a little more open to Magick than she was) and I really liked her manhunk Jack. The story was enjoyable and I had a hard time stopping at an end ...more

There is an audience for Anya Bast's Witch Fire, but unfortunately I am not it.

Here's the Not My Cup of Tea part: this is one of those paranormal romances that's very heavy on the sex and fairly light on the plot, and for that matter, fairly light on the romance. I knew Bast had lost me when I'd gotten sixty or seventy pages into the book and knew little more besides that 1) our heroine Mira was an air witch, 2) our hero Jack was a fire witch who had been surreptitiously keeping watc...more

The main characters were well written and endearing, but the secondary characters could have used a bit more development, especially the bud guys. Overall though, it was a fun, quick read, and fairly imaginitive.

Witches are living incognito among us… (snickers). They´re not like fairy-tale witches of course but every witch has the gift of a certain element (air, fire, earth, water) which defines her or his powers. Jack McAllister is a fire-witch and assigned to watch over Mira Hoskins a young woman who is working as a waitress and desperately trying to get a grip on her life again after her divorce. What she doesn´t know is that she´s a very powerful air-witch, a legacy of her dead parents who didn´t wa...more

Steamy. This is the foremost thought it my head as I think back to finishing this book last week. I actually really enjoyed this concept of wiccan's with abilities. Most of novels that have witches as their paranormal creature of choice don't interest me, but this had a druid/witch feel. I look forward to reading the next in this series, but I've heard nothing but horrible things about it. The sex scenes (remarkably vivid) meshed well into the story and its been awhile since I could say tha...more

I'm going all Star Search and giving this book "4 and a quarter stars", because this is my review and I can do what I want.

Great little paranormal romance. Short; only 278 pages. And very steamy. With a capital S. But there was also a good story. Simple but interesting world building, just the way I like it. And no one wore leather pants. I highly recommend this book to fans of the genre. I have the next two books of the series safely tucked away in my little book cabinet a...more

When a tall, handsome stranger rescues her from being attacked in her home, he tells her she is actually a powerful Air Witch which she finds a little hard to believe. Mira is a witch, only she doesn’t know it. By her parent’s choice, Mira has lived as a human and had never been give the opportunity to develop her powers as an air witch. Air is the rarest of all elemental witches, and tends to be the strongest.

In case you didn't know, this book is a romance novel. Expect plenty of sex scenes.

I had a hard time putting this book down. Something about it drew me in. I think that the romance was realistic and believable, and that is a huge positive for any romance book that I read. I'm not into the love at first sight for absolutely no reason, and I don't feel that Witch Fire is like that at all. I was interested in each of the main characters and their pasts, but I have to say they weren't very...more

This is the first book I’ve read by this author. It was a fun read and for those that enjoy reading romance with touch of paranormal this is a book for you. It is heave on romance and light on paranormal.

I picked up this book in the bargain section in one my local stores, it was only dollar or two, so I had to have it.

Book was very well written and well thought out, at least in my opinion. Characters are well developed and interesting and fun. There is a lot of sex and ...more

In this book we have Mira, a divorced waitress, who has no ideal that her world is about to be turned upside down. She’s really a very rare, and very powerful, air witch who is in the middle of a war between witches and warlocks. Jack, a member of the Coven, was sent to protect Mira from Duskoff International. Jack quickly finds that he wants to teach Mira about more than just her Magick. He wants to teach her about how great sex can be. While they focus on trying to ignore their feelings by tr...more

Here's a book that drew me in from the very first sentence..and one which was hard to put down till i reached the end. It had sparkling Magick, a burning Romance with smoldering Sex - a lot of it, fabulous Chemistry between the main characters and an evil Villain worthy of great defeat! What more can one ask for!? All in all, it was a great read.

A few things that didn't settle well with me - Firstly, men and women both were referred to as "witch" - i found this mildly unsettl...more

Look, first I want to say I really liked this book. Though it wasn't an original plot, but it was nicely written with some --okay, a lot-- hot-and-heavy scnenes in it.
What frustrated me mostly was the fact that Annie was such a stubborn, selfish, reckless BITCH. I mean, hel-lo? Super-duper bad warlock on the loose, looking for something (or rather, someone) that will save his life and would do anything to get to it, and she just fucking refuses to get to safety. Stupid.
Second, I was an...more

This is the first book I read from this author and I'm pretty impressed I'll stick to reading the rest of the books in the series.

I liked the paranormal angle, the witches, warlocks, demons, magic and all, I'm interested in it. I wasn't expecting anything from this, I just read along because the magic pulled me in.

The author's excellent writing had me imagining the characters in vivid detail, and having been lied to before by someone I love, the feelings of hurt were describ...more

Witch Fire was a difficult review to write. The plot was not unusual or unique. Girl(Mira Hoskins) discovers she is a witch(air elemental) and is being protected by an unknown beautifully sexy man (Jack McAllister). Mira has some emotional baggage from her recent divorce from a philandering ex and Jack has some serious emotional baggage from his evil warlock father. Although the storyline has been done before, I enjoyed it. However, this is where the problem for me began. You see, there just sim...more

Recommends it for: anyone who likes hot and steamy romances!
Wow, I would say this borders on soft porn. There is so much sex and then more sex. Did I mention that there was alot of sex? Hot and steamy, well written, definitely keeps the juices flowing! I really liked the storyline and I read it in one sitting. I also thoroughly enjoyed the character couple, Jack and Mira. I hope to read more about them in the future else I will miss them. They really seem to stick to me.

My Review / Thoughts / Feelings / Strapline:
This review almost went over onto my erotica review blog, because WOWZA! It is heavy on the erotic. I have to say, that I was expecting a bit more plot -- the plot was there, and it was all good and neat and tight ... but I was just expecting a bit more and it never came.

The characters however, came over and over again ... and over and over ...more

I love Half Price Books. I go there at least 2 or 3 times a month. That being said, it's rare that I just pick a book up at random and enjoy it this much. Fortunately for me, HPB had all four of the books in the Elemental Witches series and I was smart enough to pick them all up instead of waiting (like I normally do) to see if I like the first one.

I had a hard time putting this book down. I hate that goodreads only offers 1 -5 stars and not halves because I would definitely giv...more
