REVIEW
Everything about this book was cute. It was cute that Brianna wanted to be the president of her grade because she wanted to be like her idol, Miss Delicious. By the way, the name Miss Delicious was pretty cute too! It was also cute that some of Brianna’s cupcake and frosting recipes were included. The “Itsy-Bitsy Wild Banana Bites” sound yummy!
The story follows Brianna as she campaigns for the title of fifth grade president. She certainly took the campaign too far when she was facing fierc...more

This book had a very strong female lead and I believe would speak well to the audience it is written for. As a fifth grade teacher I was very excited for this book because there were several areas where fifth graders will be able to relate. Holding the elections and the connections with U.S. History was great and how the author pulled in historical figures and connected it to modern issues and in a way that the elementary audience would understand. Also, as a Michigan native it was great to see...more

When I first started in on this book, I abandoned it after a chapter or two. It just didn't seem like it would have any "meat" to it- and I'm a vegetarian! However, I picked it back up, I'm in search of a good book that the kids can relate to about elections, and I found myself sucked into the story. The characters reminded me of some of my former students- particularly the two main characters, Brianna and Jasmine Moon. Hits on themes of loyalty, friendship, bullying, deception, self-confidence,...more

I was curious about this book because it was on a summer reading list in my town. The text, which includes: presidential trivia, delicious cupcake recipes, and an inspiring message, was a delight to read.

Favorite quote "...the best recipe for success was one that included all the right ingredients: staying true to yourself, following a plan that makes sense, and trusting the ones you love."

Brianna Justice has had a goal since fourth grade, to become president of her fifth grade class, ever since she heard her hero the famous chef Miss Delicious. Brianna also hopes to one day own her own bakery where she can sell her delicious cupcakes. But at the beginning of her fifth grade year, it is decided that the person elected will become president of the whole fifth grade of the entire school and will decide who to spend the grade level's budget. Brianna is even more determined to become...more

Awesome story with a strong main character. Brianna Justice wants to be like her idol Ms. Delicious who was president of 5th grade before starting her own baking empire. Brianna thinks she is definitly going to win the election until the new girl Jasemine Moon decides to run against her. Both sides begin running dirty campaigns and on voting day big secrets will be revealed.

It was okay. I was a little put off by the main character's snobby attitude. The end wraps up a little too quickly and neatly with such a major change in attitude for the main character that it didn't seem sincere, just preachy.

There just something about this book that was a little off. I think Brianna is a good role model, but it took her a long time to get there and the video to punish one of the characters was a bit over the top.

I think this was a really good book. It had baking, social studies, and money all at the same time.

Not a fan.It was recommended to me by a 4th gr. girl. Neither the story line or the characters were interesting.
