I am not the intended audience for this book, which seems targeted at educators and/or students of education. But the discussions of culture and how assumptions about culture and race affect the quality and content of kids' educations were really good. First discussion I have seen outside my own head (like I said, I'm not well read in this topic) of teaching Standard American English to speakers of African-American Vernacular English and vice versa.
