karen
thank you to everyone who made my birthday fun this year. makes me rethink my misanthropy.

I like this because the rhyme scheme is good, you can read the last few pages in a big hurry once you have the thing memorized, and the Birthday Monsters clean up after themselves. I don't like this because it endorses using breakfast as confetti, which we do not do in our house.

I cannot tell you how many times we read this book to our son... We had it memorized.. And we loved it as much as he did... And I still love it. Simply a great story... A great rhyming book... Super enjoyable... The best kids book I've ever read

This book is a really fun book for children to read. I think that it is not a book necessarily to read to your classroom but definitely one to have in your mini classroom library. It can get kids laughing and in a great mood.

Boynton always has adorable drawings. This is a cute birthday story about monsters who crash a party. It's not one of Boynton's very best, but it's still worth reading to the kids.

This precious rhyming book is one of our favorites. How fun to read this board book with babies and young children! A fun birthday book, or any time book!
Shelli
Cute little board book that would be a great birthday gift for toddlers. Much better than the Birthday Monster's themselves showing up.

Another great Bounton book with lots of silly rhymes and situations. As much fun for the adults reading as the kids listening.

My son loves the Sandra Boynton books. They are also very fun for me to read to him, as they are all so cute.
Katrina
Funny, humor might be just a tad above a 3/4 year old level, but seems to be written for that level.

Boynton is a favorite of Tess' which she passed along to my kids--I think it is the animal appeal :-)
Amanda
All 1 year olds should get this for their first birthday. It's ridiculously fun!
Brigette
A good sort for any little one's birthday. Mine loves the silly pictures.

This tells the story of the birthday monsters, and everything they do when they show up on your birthday.

Cute, cute, cute chldren's rhyming book for toddlers about monsters who come into your house and steal your birthday!

Happy ending when clean up monsters come and tidy everything and then leave cake and presents!

Loved by Sabrina at bedtime.

Austin, September 2012.

Requested by Sabrina again in May of 2013. Still love it!

The chaos caused by the monsters (more sensitive kids might get upset, I suppose, but my nieces don't) is done in a funny way, and the fact that the BIRTHDAY MONSTER CLEANING CREW! fixes everything at the end makes it all better.

Very catchy text, really funny illustrations. Perfect for a kid's first or second birthday.

This reminds me of my sisters who called me at work one day and they let me know that the Birthday Monsters were at my house. They only did the cleaning part.

Kids love this book and it's so creative. I love when I read this to my nephew William that he does the knocks for me as I read.
Brittany
This book has rhyming text and appealing scenes for an audience of kids and adults. This book would be good for a language arts lesson on rhyming.

I need another copy of this book.

I'm not a morning person, so my favorite lines are:

Look, oh look - it's 6:08!

Your present opening cannot wait

They rush you down before you're ready,

and use your breakfast as confetti.

24 months - Found at Goodwill for $1 right about the time of O's 2nd birthday. Not the best of Boynton but it's ok and it's nice to have something birthday related when that time of year comes round.... and hey, the price was right!

I read this book on my birthday-first thing in the morning. As a working parent, who is also a graduate student, with little time, but wants to start his birthday on the right foot, there is nothing like reading Sandra Boynton.
