Help Is On the Way is a wonderfully colorful explanation of ADD for children. The illustrations are part of the text and descriptions, which would be helpful to hold attention of young children. The authors acknowledge that some of the words used are big and scary, but explain them in a way that children can understand. This resource book about children with ADD offers a unique approach to helping children to understand the dynamic ways in which their brains work. This text explains in great detail the various people and professions that help children who are diagnosed with ADD. It outlines that ADD is an Attention Deficit Disorder that affects many children who have problems paying attention at school and home and to other people's feelings. My son is 7 and struggling to understand why he now has to take medicine, and this book really helped explain what ADHD is and what those HUGE words mean. He was also then able to open up about his feelings, and the thoughts he has about himself (although, no mom ever wants to hear from their kid that he feels stupid and frustrated, mad & scared) but the book allowed him to finally be able to put those emotions into words by showing how the brain works.
