Scott Pilgrim's Finest Hour (Scott Pilgrim #6)
It's finally here Six years and almost one-thousand pages have all led to this epic finale With six of Ramona's seven evil exes dispatched, it should be time for Scott Pilgrim to face Gideon Graves, the biggest and baddest of her former beaus. But didn't Ramona take off at the end of Book 5? Shouldn't that let Scott off the hook? Maybe it should, maybe it shouldn't, but on...more

10 Life Changing Lessons To Learn from Scott Pilgirm Series.
1. I'm pretty sure Ramona Flowers is related to Nymphadora Tonks.
2. Inventors needs to invent Subspace Highways. SOON.
3. Never ever date a chick with 7 evil ex-boyfriends.
4. But if she's so damn hot, just prepare your katana.
3. Lightsabers are out. Power of Love and Power of Understanding are in.
6. Sparkling bodies are lame. Glowing heads are epic.
7. Life isn't a matter of milestones, nor of moments but of XP's!!!

1.5 stars. In the previous volumes of Bryan Lee O'Malley's Scott Pilgrim epic, there had been a buildup to a metaphysical / existential conclusion. Characters were floating in and out of a reality that was peppered with video game physics and razor-sharp wit, and it seemed natural that the final volume would be a collision of parallel worlds.
The finale, however, seems to play into a chaos-driven philosophy in explaining its logic. What seems to be intended as a post-modern foray into love, redem...more

I really enjoyed these books. (Don't pick on my star-rating system, I have to save four and five for BIG things.) After the first one I was like "these are just the same as the movie," but they really developed in a different way. It's funny, I liked Kim a lot more in the books, but I liked Ramona and Scott less. I mean, they were still fun, but Ramona is more normal and less magical. I liked how the book kind of links her magical-ness with her haircut and color. I do need to read these in color...more

Taistelusta tuleekin jännittävä ja s...more
something about the way this all wrapped up made this my favorite installment, but i temper my four star rating with the warning that this is only outside of the context of the movie. i really tried to read this volume with an open mind, and judge it on its own merit, as i noticeably had trouble doing that while reading the others. something about this one resonated with me, and i actually enjoyed seeing a different take on the ending/themes/even the characters.

Now that I've read all six volumes in the Scott Pilgrim series, I find it obvious how someone would want to make a movie out of these books, and downright amazed that the movie they made managed to omit so much and still not suck. As I read each book, it became more and more clear that the movie deliberately left some pertinent things out, and even took creative liberties with certain characters and events. No book hammered that point home like the last book, Scott Pilgrim's Finest Hour.

Very enjoyable overall although I was never very interested in the plot (not after evil boyfriend number 3 or 4). Even in volume 6(?) where Scott has to accept all the things that he'd done wrong it felt less consequential than it should of done. And apart from that it mostly felt a bit well repetitive.
What I did really like, though, was the incorporation of gaming tropes (Level Up, New T-shirt Accessed) were genuinely innovative and felt entirely natural. Some of the meta-fiction throwaway line...more

Scott Pilgrim, Vol. 6: Scott Pilgrim's Finest Hour / 9781934964385
This is the final volume of the Scott Pilgrim series, so if you've been following the series up until now, you pretty much HAVE to read it. The good news is that it's incredibly thrilling and well-drawn and the plot is nicely summed-up; the bad news is that I kind of wish there was MORE of it.

The sixth and final installment of the Scott Pilgrim story feels quite a bit different from the rest of the volumes, in terms of the artwork, pacing, dialogues, and just the overall ambiance. It's not that it's bad - it just feels rather strange and a bit rushed.
Still, it's a great ending for a great series. It's a rather bittersweet coming of age for the all these 20-somethings, and a very honest, believable one at that. We get closure on most of the characters and relati...more

About a month ago, I realized that I hadn't reviewed Scott Pilgrim #6 here... so I added it and went to write my review. Then I realized, I couldn't remember what happened in this volume. And THEN I realized... I hadn't even read it yet! Argh! No wonder I never achieved full closure on this series! So I, of course, had to remedy that situation.

While I greatly enjoyed the final volume of SP, I'll admit that I was slightly disappointed by it. I was rooting for a specific pairing to occur by the end of the book & it didn't happen. I do like how the book resolved, though.

* There's a tad bit of cussing
* A tad bit of drinking
* A tad bit of blood but I've seen worse from Mortal Combat

I really think that the ending of the movie was so "I don't get it" because there were tons of stuff left out that are in the comic book. But maybe that was their secret ploy... Go see the movie, scratch your head, then read the comic books. HEY! It worked for me... and sup...more

(One review for all six Scott Pilgrim books)
These six short graphic novels are the basis of the film Scott Pilgrim vs the World. Although I enjoyed the film, I found the main character incredibly annoying. He's annoying in the books as well, but much less so. I found myself enjoying them much more than the film. Like the film, the basic plot of the series is that the eponymous Scott Pilgrim must defeat the seven evil exes of his girlfriend Ramona Flowers in order to be with her.

Four stars? Really? Maybe sometime later I'll settle Mr. Pilgrim's grand finale back down to a respectable three, but let me take a moment to defend the high praise: yes the Scott Pilgrim series is cute, hip, trendy, and full of the video game and bubblegum humor that my generation loves and may not weather well after a few decades. But there are things going on in these little books that cut deeper and glow brighter than all the the Double Dragon Meets Garden State glitter -- secret undercurren...more
I totally like the ending of this wonderful series, even if there were a bunch of moments that were unnecessarily confusing or not how I wanted them to end.
After seeing the movie, it's hard not to compare the plot and characters here to the movie's ending. The book obviously has more time to go through the motions and emotions. Scott's spaced-out state of mind at the end of the 5th book (which I disliked) was wrapped up nicely, even if it didn't make sense.

My experience with O'Malley's comic-books it’s been like a rollercoaster... I loved the first one, the next two were still good but not quite ... later (vol. 4) almost lost interest but couldn’t let Wallace go (I have a big crush on Mr. Wells)... and in Volume 5 began to regain my confidence, and now here we are! The last one and I feel quite conflicted on the number of stars...

A brief overview for those people who automatically edit Michael Cera, who stars in the movie adaptation, out of their consciousness: Scott Pilgrim is a 23 year old (mostly) straight edge Canuck, in the okay band Sex Bob-omb who shares a 1BR apartment -- and bed -- with his gay friend Wallace.
When the series starts, Scott Pilgrim is in the beginnings of a pretty chaste relationship with Knives Chau, a high school girl. An Asian high school girl. The kind of high school girl who wears a Catholic...more

This is a tale of two readings:
The first time I read through Scott Pilgrim's Finest Hour I went: "uhhh...really?" Underwhelmed, was an under statement. After building up potential conclusions for a year in my own mind, after imagining and re-imagining the deeper meanings O'Malley explored in this post-pop-modern-culture saga of romance and generational angst, I felt let down.
Then I realized: "oh...I was expecting WAY too much from a fun comic book series". And so in my second, third and fourt...more

YES! Finest Hour indeed! The last Scott Pilgrim was great! I loved it! I laughed out loud at the panel in the beginning when Scott does the like one arm back, one arm forward thing and shouts "I think we should have SEX! CASUAL SEX!" because it's so perfectly, cluelessly, Scott Pilgrim. The playful "that happened in Volume 3!" stuff works much better here than it did in some of the previous volumes, and there was a lot of action -- some of the middle books got a little too much about relationshi...more
I was so excited to read Scott Pilgirm’s Finest Hour, the sixth and final volume in the series, that even though I had ordered it for ridiculously cheap, the moment I got near Big Brain Comics last Tuesday I caved and bought another copy. There was no way in hell I was going to be able to wait another day to find out what happend to Scott, Ramona, and their gang of wry sidekicks.

Before my my 34th birthday last week I joked with my BF that all I wanted was a box of Lotte Choco-Pies and a couple of comic books. But actually that really was all I wanted, and Scott Pilgrim's Finest Hour was on the list.

This is it! After six years, and several thousand (I kid you not) pages of graphic novel, the "Epic of Epic Epicness" concludes. This is one hell of barn stormer. While the prior volumes focus on the fun, humorous aspects of Scott Pilgrim and his friends' existences in Toronto (a version of Toronto I would LOVE to hang out in), this one is way more driven to clearly provide the heaviness that was only hinted at when Scott Pilgrim vs. The Universe left off on that wondrous cliff hanger, where Gid...more

The final book in the excellent Scott Pilgrim series winds up a storyline you probably had seen coming from Book 1 – Scott defeats the final Evil-Ex (or the Boss of the final level) and gets the girl. There’re spades of anime-style fighting, lots of video game references, and Gideon is as villainous as any villain should be.
But despite its predictability, it’s too damn likeable, funny, and entertaining to ever make me feel I was reading something derivative or tired. Scott’s too damn charming a...more
