I'm Aisling Grey--but you can call me "frustrated."
The dragon of my dreams--uber-sexy Drake Vireo, wyvern of the green dragons--has finally decided to make an honest woman of me. That is, if we ever make it to the wedding at the same time! Being left at the altar may have cooled my jets, but not my passion...a good thing when Drake disappears and it's up to me to find him...more

An enjoyable conclusion to the events and multiple subplots of the series - though I do hope she writes more of this character. After the baby, I'm sure.
Aisling and Drake are trying to get married but something always seems to go wrong. Proscribed, Bael is hounding Aisling to give him his sacrifices, Drake goes missing in Tibet, Fiat uses Aisling to support his call for war against the Green Dragons, and it's all just one big mess that her family is in London to witness. Fortunately, she finds U...more

It is up to her usual standards, in this novel several plots that have been floating around get resolved. It almost felt like the finale of the series, but I won't know that until or if another book gets back.
As usual, she puts Aisling the main character and her love Drake through hoops. She has all kinds of things happen to her most of her hijinks relate to the two of them trying to get married and having crises coming up which prevent said nuptials to take place. Reminds me a bit of Betsy fro...more

Holy Smokes is the fourth and final book following the life and love of Aisling Grey (although I understand she and Drake will be pretty prominent characters in Katie MacAlister's new Silver Dragons series). This is a series of books you have to read in order for them to make any sort of sense. So, here's the order: You Slay Me, Fire Me Up, Light My Fire.

I'd like a little closure with some of these books. I enjoy the characters even though Jim is annoying and Aisling is helpless and airheaded at times, but I wish more would be resolved. Hardly anything happened in this book to further the plot. There was danger, people were running around after people, nothing was getting explained to Aisling (and therefore us), and then more issues were presented, with no resolution. I've had about enough of books that keep building and building with no end in...more
This is the fourth, and so far last, book in the Aisling Grey Guardian series. This book follows much in the same vein as the third book in the series. It is light, easy to read, and an entertaining story. Although there are strong aspects of romance to this book; I think fans of the paranormal genre who like action more than romance will also like this book.
The book starts with Aisling getting stood up at the alter by Drake. Of course it's not Drake's fault. Again Aisling has many things coming...more

Yeah, yeah. Okay. The last two books in the series lessened my irritation with the second book in this (so far) four book series. This is still just fluff reading, but the fourth book was fun, and actually had me wishing there were more books in the series after reading the ending.
It seems weird throughout this series to vaguely elude to how much more powerful Aising is than she should be at this phase in her Guardian-ness, but there's never an explanation, never a back story about her family a...more

Another day, another catastrophic event planning a wedding is difficult at the best of times, but with Princes of Hell demending innocent souls, lecturing mother in laws and a certain wyvern bridegroom that has gone missing the shit has truely hit the fan for Aisling Grey, Prince of Hell, Guardian and wyvern mate extradonaire. Will she overcome all the new challenges before her, or will it be one disaster too many?

My ratings system is as follows. One star is GOOD. The book is entertaining, easy to read and you don't want to stop reading because something about the book is compelling you not to. Two stars is GREAT! This time the story is not only entertaining, but highly creative, unique, easy to read and hard to put down. Three stars is EXCELLENT. Here the book has all aspects of one and two stars, but now the book is thought and emotionally provoking. Four is AWESOME. This is the read that is not only cr...more
Pros: This novel continues the fabulously funny life of Aisling
Cons: You have to read the first three novels to fully appreciate this one
In this novel, Aisling is just trying to have a wedding… a simple wedding, where all her human family will meet Drake. However, as with everything else in Aisling’s life, by the third attempt the wedding begins to fall apart. Gabriel and Fiat are still up to what appears to be no good. The Red Dragons are even closer to having her killed, and Bael has his own a...more

The good: Characterization of certain endearing characters (i.e. Jim) remains consistent with the rest of the series.
The bad: Characterization of certain one dimensional hackneyed characters (i.e. Drake) remains consistent with the rest of the series. There is very little character growth through this series.
The same stale jokes are constantly recycled.
The world building, which was weak to start off with, doesn't improve with the addition of a second, third or fourth book.

Gave it a 5 'cause of the hilarity, action, suspense, but my fave book out of the series is still the 2nd one (Fire Me Up). More mysteries unravel in this book, what with Aisling confirming she is indeed breeding, Drake is more protective than ever, and I really liked Uncle Damian's character, he reminded me of Robert De Niro in "Meet the Parents". Although this is the last book in the series, there are new characters and surprising events which lead to more questions. I give credit to Katie Mac...more
The final in the Guardian series (series switches to a new narrator after this with Aisling et al playing a minor role) this one serves as a wrap up for a lot of the conflicts that have been persisting for the series, but with new ones being introduced. Aisling and Drake are trying to find a balance between them that won’t drive the other crazy while at the same time, the war that is hinted at in book 2 and starts in book 3 begins to heat up even further with other factions coming on the scene....more
Another great read - these books get better as they go along. I think I liked Aisling more in this book than I did in the others, probably because she was less ditzy and knew a little more a little sooner. Drake was also much better in this book - still cool and arrogant and full of fire and totally alpha male... but more than that... he was also loving and honest and supportive.

I tried and tried to finish this book, I just could not. It wasn't a horrible book or series, I just could not read another line of Aisling. Really what is the point of having all that power if you cannot use it for something. And Drake was like a rigid stick in cement. He got on my nerves as well. They couldn't even hold a conversation without trying to jump each other bones. This book just wasn't very enjoyable. Aisling running around pulling tricks out of her ass, supposedly having oodles of...more
A cute book about Aisling Grey, a woman trying to through (and even to) her wedding to marry the love of her life while dealing with Hell…literally. Aisling is a Guardian, avowed protector of humans from the denizens of Hell (or Abbadon, as her demon-in-a-Newfoundland-dog body keeps reminding her). However, she’s also been declared a demon lord, with those additional responsibilities. And that’s only one of her problems. This is the fourth book in the series, and though I enjoyed it, I would hav...more

Disappointing ending to the series. Seemed like the author didn't have any direction and just wrote for the sake of finishing. Drake is still fire engine hot though!!
Things are finally looking up. She may be n the middle of all the Dragon Affairs, but darn it, she's getting married. In the latest Guardian book, Aisling has to fight to keep the dark voice insider her head under wraps as well as find a way out of the mess she's forced into. But all she has to do is get kick out of the Abaddon Prince Ranks. Should be easy enough, right? Although the bickering and bantering between Drake and Aisling has simmered down some, there's still an intenseness about them...more

I liked that in this story, Aisling took back what was hers... and without depending on Drake to oversee it all... Drake has morphed into quite a mate/husband... at least emotionally - he compromises, he says I love you (at least once a day, and not always being prompted), he shares his thoughts, and he respects her abilities and autonomy... and he does love making love with her... shifting to dragon during his orgasm...

Holy Smokes is the final book in the Guardian Novels, and I must say I liked it, but it wasn't my favorite. I still love Aisling and Drake is sexy as ever, but there weren't as many surprises as I would have liked. Jim was still the comedian, and Katie's wit was there in spades. I must say my favorite line being "Mimes! You can't tell the devil doesn't have anything to do with mimes!" Hilarious. I did like how she brought everything together, but still left a little to the imagination (and to th...more
Aisling is technically no longer Drake's mate, making their connection slightly diminished. While slightly silently mourning that connection she is trying to plan her wedding and deal with Fiat as diplomatically as possible, at least as much as she can be diplomatic. She discovers she in fact pregnant but of course still gets herself into a lot of dangerous situations. Love her relationship with Drake in this one, finally coming together. Love her uncle and of course adore the demon dog. Wish th...more

I enjoyed this series. This last book was not my favorite, but it was still a great end to the series. I liked Aisling and Drake's relationship better before they got all lovey-dovey. It was actually a little annoying in this book because Aisling never referred to Drake without an adjective like adorable or hot or something. I think the ending was a little rushed here and some of the secondary characters were not as well-developed as they could have been if introduced in previous books. But over...more
I am kind of sad that this is the last one! I would of liked to know more about the baby, and the future of the septs, but it ended well. Aisling and Drake try to have their wedding several times only something always gets in the way, and Aisling's stepmom is not happy. Aisling deals with being the mate to Fiat (slimebag) and the prince(ess) of Abbadon, and Bael the devil himself. This series was quick, light and fun. I laughed constantly at Jim, he is hilarious. One surprising character was Aisl...more

Aaargh!! You describe the man as Uber Sexy. He's a dragon. And then you have Aisling calling him Sweetie every second line of the book. So not done.
This book did tie up all the ends well - Aisling the Dark Prince, the position Venediger, her other issues with the Otherworld. And a wedding that gets postponed a million times. It also adds more to the war with the Dragons, what with having to rescue Drake and all. It also adds more characters to the book - Bastian the blue dragon, Kostya the Black...more

Best book of the series! I really liked this series, and I liked the ending. I liked seeing all the characters grow, and I appreciated that not everyone one-dimensional. Loved seeing Uncle Damian in this one, too! :)
My only major qualm, in the end was that the books were too short and had too many editing errors to cost the price they cost for Kindle. If you are going to charge $7+ for a Kindle version of a book, it had better be longer than 400 page and be immaculate when it comes to editing, i...more

So very happy with this, and so very sad at the same time.
MacAlister wrapped everything up in a lovely little gift with a ribbon on top and handed it to her readers. I loved it.
I went from extreme loathing and hatred for Drake from the first book to completely infatuated and enamored by him by the last one.
And Aisling! I really saw this character grow throughout those books. Although they are only 4 books Macalister was able to create and wrap up a very nice solid plot.

As good a read as the rest of the Aisling Grey series. My minor niggle, if there is one, is it came across a little as if Ms MacAlister realised she had to make it the last of the series and so crammed it so full of plot ideas it came across a little more like a completed to do list for the rest of the Wyvern series than the other Aisling books did. However, this is a VERY MINOR niggle and does not detract from it being yet another great read and enjoyable way to goof off.

Once again Katie MacAlister has made a HUGE HIT! Talk about absolutely the most fun series to read! In this one we have Aisling and Drake "trying" to get married. Yet every time they try something seems to crop up.

For as long as she can remember, Katie MacAlister has loved reading. Growing up in a family where a weekly visit to the library was a given, Katie spent much of her time with her nose buried in a book. Despite her love for novels, she didn't think of writing them until she was contracted to write a non-fiction book about software. Since her editor refused to allow her to include either witty dialo...more
