It is ashame the author chose to only write three books in this series. Well worth the time to read them.
Raissa Bourdeax has secrets and a scar to prove it. The mayor's granddaughter is kidnapped, sounding all too familiar to Raissa. To Raissa's surprise suddenly she is able to see and hear Helena Henry... the thought being, danger is coming Raissa's way. Helena saving Raissa from being killed by a bus in New Orleans. Hank Henry has finished rehab and looking to keep on the straight and narrow...more

Great ending to the series. I enjoyed Showdown in Mudbug a lot more than the previous two and Raissa and Zach were engaging characters.
This book concludes the mystery of who murdered Helene Henry and the person(s) and brings together all the hints provided previously. The identity(s) of the murderer was not a surprise as I guessed in the first book who it was but it also brought into light the mystery of the suspected 'swapped' babies.

the last book in the series did not let me down. It still had Helen the dead mother-in-law ghost. This time the action surrounded Raissa the physic from new orleans and Zach the cop who is investigating a kidnapped girl. Raissa tells him its been a pattern for girls kidnapped and returned a week later with no memories except of aliens and to look at like cases in the FBI data base. Zach thinks she either the kidnapper or knows who it is. FBI warn local police away from raissa that they want her....more
Jana DeLeon is one of those authors who writes entertaining, fun books with enough mystery plot to keep things interesting while blending it with a romance that thankfully get neither sappy nor angsty. I like her characters, her brisk and easy writing style, her humor, and her charm. Certainly all of those things were just as evident here as they were in Mischief in Mudbug and Mayhem in Mudbug. I enjoyed almost everything about the book except the ending. Helena Henry, the ghost in the Ghost-In-...more
Showdown in Mudbug is the third book in a three book series. I would recommend reading the first two berfore this one as the one mystery that is left unsolved in books one and two is finally wrapped up in this book. And it will make so much more sense with the full backstory. Raissa, Sabine's psychic friend who lives in New Orleans, has information about a recently kidnapped young girl. She knows information that was not made public. And to prove she's not a fake, she gives the sceptical detect...more
This is the third and final book in the Mudbug Ghost in Law series and this time, it's Raissa Bordeaux's turn to have her life put in danger. A number of girls have been kidnapped by an alien yet mysteriously returned days later unharmed. Raissa has been investigating on her own account and has just visited the police when she is nearly run over in the street which she rightly construes as a serious message to her. She rapidly joins forces with Helena Henry, the gluttonous fashion-victim ghost a...more
Wow - what a great finish to this trilogy. Suspense, romance, humour, fantasy, and even a touch of sci -fi. The good guys weren't necessarily good, the bad guys weren't all bad, Hank was a pleasant surprise, and everybody got a HEA - of sorts. The plot was more complex than in the previous books, as were many of the characters. Raissa was something of a super heroine, I thought Maryse was more likeable, and Helena was .......well Helena. Zach was pretty good too ;-)

2 1/2 stars
POV: 3rd person: Raissa, Zach, Maryse, Hank
Sensuality: Warm
Mystery: Average (with a WTH? that makes no sense)
3rd in the Ghost-in-law series following Trouble in Mudbug and Mischief in Mudbug. Finally the mystery of Helena's death is solved.
I've been looking forward to this one for a while. I really enjoyed the first two books and found them to be funny and sexy with just the right amount of mystery. This book just didn't meet my expectations. I was disappointed in the conclusion and w...more

What do you get when you put a "psychic," a police detective, and a ghost on a case of kidnapped girls? A really awesome book with all sorts of twists and turns that you never expect until they happen. As the third book of the Ghost-in-law series Jana Deleon out does her other two books with this one. She includes murder, kidnapping, aliens, sick doctors, and of course Helena Henry. "Showdown in Mudbug" is a terrific book about learning to accept your past, trusting the ones that you love, and s...more
Really nice summer read if you like a mystery to read by the pool, this is a winner. Although I'd have to say that the three books in this series though well written and very entertaining are sort of the the same book with minimal variation, she manages to change the dynamic and connect the dots with all three somewhat. One thing that I could not help but wonder is that in book 2 she clearly hints at the scandal with the babies and the doctor that unfolds in book 3 yet there is no more mention a...more
The third in the series and I fear, the last by the ending. What a lovely ending however. Tears of joy and sadness were shed. Each of these books takes on one of three friends as the main character. It's a series not to be missed. This time an FBI agent in the witness protection has to find out why "aliens" are abducting young girls and then returning them unharmed. During this time she meets a detective and what happens between them is fireworks. I loved this series. I feel like I'll be missing...more
These were fun books - I'm kind of sorry there were only three.
Raisa Boudreaux, the fortune-telling friend of Maryse and Sabine can now see Maryse's ex-mother in law's ghost. Not a good sign. Generally, according to Maryse's theory, you only see her when your life is in danger. Helena rescues Raisa from being flattened when she's pushed in front of a bus.
Raisa has gone to the police when she hears of the kidnappimg of a young girl that bears a distinct resemblance to several cases years ago. She...more

I had no idea what to expect before reading this book. And let me say, the cover is extremely misleading and has NOTHING to do with what the story is about.
It's the third book in the "ghost-in-law" mystery series, and even though I didn't read the first two, I could still follow along - past characters have a recurring role, but there is a new set of hero/heroine protagonists.

An interesting book no doubt, it kept my attention and had an appropriate ending that wrapped up the series in a(n almost) neat bow. However, a book can be appropriate but still leave you wanting more. Something is missing from this book: the "thing" that made me fall in love with the first two books in the series. I don't know how to describe it, but the final book wasn't like the others.

This was the 3rd book in the series. I guess it is the last. I enjoyed them. I laughed so hard when Helena went to take the picture of the person in the black Cadillac! I could just see this happening to Helena! Jana makes the characters in her book so real, you laugh at them, cry with them and feel happy and sad for them. Great Read to anyone who wants something light and mysterious.
This is the third in the Mudbug Trilogy. The books are very funny and the plots in all three are crazily complicated in some ways, but very interesting. Even the unlikable characters end up being likable, mostly. The first book didn't hook me right away, and I was tempted to not continue after the first chapter, but I'm glad I hung in, because I really enjoyed these books.
This was a fun and very entertaining series. The characters were enjoyable and the mysteries were full of twists and turns. This last book had an ending that was a little silly, but after getting to know all the people of Mudbug, you wouldnt really expect anything different. I loved this series and would recommend it to anyone who likes light mysteries with wild characters.
This book was the final in a set of three books set in a bayou town in LA. The characters were likable and believable. The plots were amusing and entertaining. The mixture was Romance, Mystery, Adventure, and Humor.
My only complaint was the series ended. It is worth the effort to find all 3 of the books. Enjoy!

Helena Henry, ghost extraordinaire, returns in the last of the Mudbug trilogy.
Her antics will keep you laughing all the way to the end. Her family Hank, Maryse, Sabine, Mildred and Raissa keep her in line. While they solve the mystery living life to the full. So I the reader got romance, mystery and humor to entertain me.
I enjoyed this trilogy immensely and am looking for other books from Ms DeLeon to read.

Jana DeLeon grew up among the bayous and small towns of southwest Louisiana. She's never actually found a dead body or seen a ghost, but she's still hoping. Jana started writing in 2001 and focuses on murderous plots set deep in the Louisiana bayous. By day, she writes very boring technical manuals for a software company in Dallas.
