A fun though flawed little book with some interesting stories related to the Outer Banks and other eastern NC locales. I would love for some of these to be true, but there are no references or documentation on any of the stories. The narrator's supposed real-life encounter with Blackbeard's cup was particularly interesting, and I am very curious about the "Sea Angel" of the final story - the description of the animal was too vague for me to even guess at what it was.
Just finished the last of the series that I have, I think there are a couple of more. Good comfort reading for anyone missing the NC coast, and the stories that go along with it. The writing is good, if not exceptional, but the stories are told with enthusiasm and joy. It made we want to do a tour of all the places mentioned, to go back and re-visit Bath, Ocracoake, Edenton, New Bern and the rest. Good, fun reading.
