Once again, the plot revolves around a band of highly trained vampire warriors who have been targeted for extinction by the Lessening Society, but this time the spotlight is on Rhage, the best fighter, the most voracious lover. As a result of a curse by the Scribe Virgin, Rhage is left with an inner demon unlike all others; Mary, the mortal woman he meets falls in love wit...more

"I don't want to stop, Mary." His thumbs caressed the skin of her throat and they pressed into her jaw and angled her head back.
"I want to get you hot. Hot enough so you don't feel anything but me. So you don't think of anything but what I'm doing to you.
I want you liquid.

I loved this book! Rhage is definitely one of the guys at the top of the BDB fav list <3 Uber-hot, and such an amazing hero! A total must-read!

Opening Line: "Ah, hell, V, you're killing me."

LOVER ETERNAL is Rhage's story and oh man are we in for a treat. Such a perfect, heartbreaking romance. Continuing directly after Dark Lover, we find The Black Dagger Brotherhood now living together in Darius's mansion. Wrath has stepped up to the throne with his Queen Beth by his side, as the battle with the Lessers continues.

One of the things I loved about the book is that we get to know all the brother's a whole lot better here, their unique pers...more

Wow! I loved Rhage’s story! There’s so much that can be said but has already been stated much better by others in their reviews. Here are just a few of my thoughts and feelings.

Rhage - The Brothers call him Hollywood. Towering well over six feet eight, stronger than all the other warriors, all hard well endowed muscle, this vampire is flat-out drop-dead gorgeous! Pure - Walking- Desire! A sex legend in...more

Oh man. Lover Eternal just breaks my heart. Rhage and Mary are exceptional characters. Together, they are mesmerizing. Who knew that a womanizing warrior like Rhage could love someone like Mary. They are so different from one another. What I also loved was the fact that Mary was a little hesistant with Rhage. She didn't just fall into his arms because of his looks and reputation. She is a smart woman who sticks to the truth about life, which is that it only happens once. With her health on the l...more

I'm so late to the BDB series, that there's really nothing left for me to say about this book, LOL.

Anyway, here's my two cents...

I loved Rhage, and that's saying a lot considering that (view spoiler)[he had sex with another woman even though he was already in love with Mary. That should have made me yell "cheater" at the top of my lungs (hide spoiler)] but, due to some miraculous writing by Ms. Ward, it only made me feel sorry for him. I think I even forgave him before Mary did. What was "wrong...more

Rhage’s story was nothing like I expected it to be... It was so much better!

Rhage is also known as ‘Hollywood’ to the other warriors of the BDB. He is the best looking of the bunch, and is with a different girl (or girls) every night. He is also the first one ready for a fight. But he has his reasons... He was cursed to live with ‘the beast’ for 200 years, and he has 91 years left to go. What people don’t know about Rhage is he doesn’t love using all the women, fighting all the time. It’s just...more

The dialog when this book started was so bad I would literally laugh out loud while driving in my car. I can totally understand why women love this author and the Black Dagger Brotherhood (BDB) series, the male characters say things women would want them to say. But men don't talk like that in real life. I guess that's why it's fiction.

Page turner. Want more.

So the book opens with:

As Butch stepped into the main room, he got a load of Rhage's ensemble for the night: Black leather trench coat fell from his shoulders to his ankles. Black wife-beater was tucked into leathers. Lover Eternal is the second book in J. R. Ward's Black Dagger Brotherhood series. To me, it is more focused on the romance and the relationship of the hero and heroine than the first book, Dark Lover. I really liked this, as I felt it gives the reader a much better feel for the main characters than in Dark Lover. Although, I do understand that there was a lot of world-building that needed to take place in the first installment of this series.

There are so many things I loved about Rhage and Mary’...more

I am really kinda speechless after reading this book. Saying that I LOVED IT is kinda putting it mildly. Honestly, the other paranormal books I have read in the past few months have paled in comparison to these books so far. What makes it so different is the camaraderie between the Brothers and the heroes themselves are so unique in their own way.

Crack. Crack laced with rat poison. That’s what this series represents.

I’ve now read the first two books in this series and feel that both have been pleasantly distracting, entertaining and I intend to finish the series post haste. However, I’m definitely camping out with everyone who’s ever read these and gone, “huh?!? How could I possibly be enjoying this?”

Lover Eternal is only the second paranormal vampire romance I have read, and the second in J. R. Ward's Black Dagger Brotherhood series. It's predecessor, Dark Lover, tended to focus a lot on world-building and character development with the romance aspect being at least equal, but not necessarily the main focus. Lover Eternal differs in that it is much more focused on the romance and relationship of the hero and heroine. I really liked this, as I felt it gives the...more

5 HUGE BROTHERHOOD ADDICT STARS.

Give it up for RHAGE ...

Starting this series I never imagined how addicted I would be. This author really knows how to draw her readers into this world of the brotherhood and I LOVE IT.

The characters and ongoing storyline astound me, nothing gets me more excited then when an author links a series (and this links good)! This author has a talent for writing characters that I'm obsessed with, and their are NO regrets to my addiction.

This story is about Rhage who is cursed with a beast that emerges and takes him over whenever he is in physical pain. One evening he sees Mary and is overwhelmed and completely turned on by the sound of her voice. She says "Nothing" and he groans in pleasure. The Hall scene, that first meeting, had to be one of the most perfect first meetings put to page.

I have a confession to make… But please don’t throw rotten tomatoes at me! PLEASE!

*in a tiny tiny voice* I *gulp* seriously gave Dark Lover, the first book in the Black Dagger Brotherhood series, umm, one star. *run and cower for cover*

I think I have a logical explanation on the one star. I seldom skim pages, but whenever there was a lesser talking, I just had to skip pages. Plus, I felt that the H/h were jumping on each other. I barely liked the romance, so the one star. Oh, please let me hav...more

Okay, this was quite the shocker to my normally conditioned YA paranormal brain! But I have to admit, I really liked it. Much better than the first installment with a main character that I couldn’t help but fall for.

Okay, yes, a guy with the name Rhage that wears leathers and shitkickers is not my normal pick for a fictional man lurves, but when the guy sports a tatt of a dragon out of control, you can’t help but stop and take notice!

I really liked Rhage in this book. Much, much more than Wrath...more

I am such a big baby, this has got to be the millionth time I have read this book, but yes, YES I still weep like a baby at certain points in the book. Me! I don't cry at anything, you remember that bit in the Lion King when Simba's dad dies? Dry. Eyed. Rhage and Mary walk in the room and I am sobbing my heart out. What the hell is up with that?!

Lover Eternal frustrated me in much the same way Dark Lover did.

I don't like Ward's depiction of women, nor do I like the whole bonding experience. From the main character Mary to the Scribe Virgin's Chosen, the female characters only find some confidence when a man deems them worthy. Up until then, they're easily cowed damsels who gasp and flutter and lament their unattractiveness. This makes the mating game exasperating. It also makes my teeth itch on general principles.

The second book in the Black Dagger Brotherhood series. After reading Dark Lover, I hesitated in continuing this series. I wasn't really all that impressed with it. It was just okay. By the end of this book, I was a BDB fan for sure! Loved seeing Rhage battle his inner and outer demons. He and Vischous are my favorite brothers--super hot. Just like all the brothers, Rhage is hard headed--the tension between him and Mary was almost unbearable at times. Of course, that is half of what made it so sweet when they finally get together.

5++ stars - Vampire Romance

This is my second favorite book of the BDB series. I just love warrior, brother Rhage, aka Hollywood. He is flirtatious, romantic, sweet, funny, vulnerable, adorably goofy, and deliciously sexy. Rhage and Mary’s relationship takes a bit to get started, but it’s a smokin’ hot, sweet, and touching romance that tugs the heartstrings. I LOVE the phenomenal BDB series, and it’s definitely the very best in the PNR genre!

I'm probably one of the only people who went into the second book of the Black Dagger Brotherhood not knowing what "shitkickers" were. I looked them up on-line, and got two definitions: a pair of cowboy boots, and a big heavy shoe or boot.

I'm choosing to go with a big, heavy boot, because I just can't see Rhage wearing cowboy boots. I like to picture them more like this:

Why am I so focused on the boots? Mainly because I CAN picture them... I have a much h...more

I liked this one a LOT better than the first book. These guys grew together. I appreciated that Mary was just "average" but it didn't matter to Rhage and that Mary's body not being "perfect" also didn't matter. Mary's illness caused a good plot point in the story when it came to them deciding to make a go of it despite the future she might have. Rhage not being able to feed from her and how it was handled was also done very well. I also liked that Mary made Rhage's beast into her pet :) We had b...more
