"It was an age of war. After six hundred years of peace, the vampire and vampaneze had taken up arms against each other in a brutal, bloody battle to the death. Only three vampires stood a chance of stopping the Vampaneze Lord. They were the Prince, Vancha March; the one-time General, Larten Crepsley; and a half-vampire, me - Darren Shan"

Darren Shan, a part of an Elite Vampire Squad meant to kill off the Vampaneze, is confronted with a pressing issue: school. While setting up base in a city where the Vampaneze have been known to be active, Darren Shan is noticed by the police and is forced to attend school. But there are other problems, and as bad as it seems, school is only a hinderance…
This was one of my two least favorite books in the series. While it tried to return to the old theme of not fitting in while keeping the fee

Another quick Darren Shan book.
There was action here, as there usually is, but this one also included a little side romance for Darren. I feel bad for Debbie. For Darren disappears for 13 years, then reappears as her student. He lies to her and tells her that he has some aging disorder then her neighbors are killers then her students then he finally tells her truth just for her to be taken by R.J. Of course, she did sort of ask for it. Literally, she knew the risk when she went into the tunnels.

Allies of the Night is the eight book in the Cirque du Freak series. While Darren, Mr. Crepsley, and Harkat are still searching for the Lord of the Vampaneze, mysterious killings bring them back to Mr. Crepsley's home town. But something suspicious is going on. The only thing is, will our heroes figure it out before it's too late?

Plot

Let’s be real: the plot is being drawn out and spread too thin. The whole vampire/vampaneze war is interesting. So is the quest to find and kill the Lord of the Vam

The name of this book should be Deja vu'.

Darren Shan, Mr. Crepsley, and Harket Mulds travel to Crepsely's home town where they hope to find the Lord of the Vampaneze. To their surprise, they learn that Darren has been enrolled at some prep school. Sensing a trap, they decide to spring it by having Darren attend. While there, he discovers that his teacher is none other than Debbie Hemlock, his girlfriend from the third book, who is all grown up now. This isn't the only blast from the past, howeve

The past is catching up with me...

Allies of the Night is full of twists, turns, doubt and confusion; all blended together to make a phenomenal imagination soup. It's also the entry of reunions, and trust me, they're awesome! The blurb came at me from the side. Darren, back at school? It filled me with both anticipation, and hesitation. The latter because plunging the story back into a normalised setting could slow down the pace, and the former because, if it works, it could be a cutting contrast

Darren Shan’s Cirque Du Freak:Allies of the Night is the eighth volume of the Cirque Du Freak series. This book is about a boy named Darren Shan who becomes a vampire in order to save his best friend, Steve Jeopard. The characters are very interesting, the setting is very moody, and the plot is very exciting.Cirque Du Freak is an exciting book that is perfect for teens.
First of all, the characters are very interesting. For example, the main character, Darren Shan, was very concerned about his l

I read this book much faster than any of the others in the series so far(I read it within a day)... I could not put it down!

Mr. Crepsley, Harkat, and Darren returned to Mr. Crepsley's home city where there had been many bodies found dead and drained of blood. While there, Darren was reunited with not one, not two, but THREE people from previous books.

I have to say that this book was kind of disappointing. It was too much like all of the other stories in the series, and to tell the truth, I think it's getting too repetitive. As always, there's evil Vampanese and Darren the Vampire has to defeat them to save the day, as usual. This series seems to just go on and on and on without any point after a while.

I can't say I don't like the writing style though. I love the way Darren Shan (the author) writes about his characters and the way t

I picked this book because it was the next one in the series, and because they're all good books.
It has been 20 years since Darren joined the vampires. He’s in a town called Mahler’s, it is his teachers home town ever since he was born. It is a quiet town that’s off the map with not very many people. But has a history with terrible things that go bump in the night.
He has to face many old friend/enemies. And he has to have the life of his friends and the life of his girlfriend(external). And on

Allies of the Night was a book I promised I wouldn’t read, but some friends convinced me to read it, and it is was well worth it! The story finally picked up after a long drought of the same boring setting and characters, which was a great change of pace. This book also brought back some of my favorite characters, which I missed from previous entries. These characters showed a lot of growth and helped tie all of the books together. The flow of the story was amazing, with a perfect mix of fast p ...more

Baiklah saatnya menulis review yang sedikit layak hahaha.

Jadi, kayaknya aku bakal melanggar niat buat baca box 3 Darren Shan akhir taun depan aja. Aku menikmati baca seri ini, tapi nggak segitu ngebetnya buat tau akhir cerita. Box 1 (buku #1-#4) aku baca akhir tahun lalu, dan box 2 (#5-#8) akhir tahun ini. Sebenernya novel ini enak banget ya buat menuh-menuhin reading challenge kalo lagi ketinggalan banyak di akhir tahun *licik* tapi ternyata aku nyerah deh. Ending Allies of the Night ini ngegan

Darren is a half-vampire traveling with Mr. Crepesley. (Mr. Crepesley is a full-vampire) and a little person named Harkat Mulds. They are trying to complete their task of killing the Vampanese lord, that ends up being Darren's friend from when he was human, Steve. When they face off against Steve, he gets away.

I think it is a great fantasy book.

I recommend it. I also recommend the other parts of the series.

In Allies of the Night, the eighth book in Darren Shan’s CIRQUE DU FREAK series, Darren, Mr. Crepsley and Harkat return to Mr. Crepsley’s hometown to investigate the vampaneze activity there. This is the city we visited many years ago in the third book, Tunnels of Blood, where Darren met his first and only girlfriend, Debbie. Darren still has the body of a young teenager so when he gets to the city, he is discovered by the authorities and forced to go to school (Very Unlikely Event #1). He agree ...more

I read some reviews here that gave out major spoilers, which I dont think is cool but anyway.

The book in itself is a good read, the entire series so far is great. I gave it a four because it is good andim being unbias. If i was to be bias I would give it a 3. Like Vampire mountain it goes into story building so not much happens and there is a lot of explaining to move on the story and a lot of unwanted explainign of things that happened in earlier books, which were also explained then. So it gre

I truly adore this series! Try as I might, I continue to make predictions as I read and by the end of the book I realize my wildest guesses cannot come close to the plot twists Shan writes. If you haven't started this series yet, you need to!

I rate this book "Allies of the Night" 5 stars because it teaches lessons and this book talks about friendship. Darren was tricked by Steve his old friend, Steve coming back to team up with the vampires was a plan. Nobody knew that Steve was already blooded as vampaneze. Mr.Crepsley said that Steve isn't reliable. But the others does not agree with Mr.Crepsley. Darren and the others didn't even think twice but then at the end of the book Steve made them fall in the trap. Mr.Crepsley was right. Th ...more

It's been awhile since I read the previous Cirque Du Freak, so I was a little rusty on the story thus far. I was surprised to learn 13 years had passed in the story already! Darren is now a man trapped in a boys body. Perhaps it was because I spent such long intervals in-between the series, but a lot of old faces cropped back up in this one that I just don't remember. I still stand by what I said in a review of an earlier book, that these books are too short and 3 could be made into one novel. S ...more

An addicting story that wont let you go until you finish them all. Don't open this book unless you're ready to finish it within the hour. I enjoy the fact that each book was on the smaller scale, allowing them to easily be read in one sitting. Unfortunately, it also meant it was a pain to have to wait an entire evening to go back to the store and pick up the next two or three in the series. Author Darren Shan shows he has what it takes to write a compelling story brimming with suspense and horro ...more

Erin (Paperback stash) *is juggle-reading*

With the exception of book two, this is the best of the lot, kicking things up with surprising twists, a betrayal, and a little return of Darren to his human side/life. I’ve found when he has to try and adjust and look more into walking that balance, the books are more interesting.

There's some humor, the return of great characters, interesting plot development/connections that make Darren appear more realistic, and a stunner. It looks like the books are certainly not following the movies.
