This was the best book in the series so far. Much better than the first two. There's something about this series that makes me wanna keep reading it. It's really weird, LOL. Normally if a series isn't a 5 or 4 rating for me I stop reading it. But this series just has something appealing.

I have a weird relationship with Betsy, kinda love-hate. Sometimes I think she is the funniest and wittiest heroine I've ever read, but then there are other moments in the books where I just wish somebody would...more

The first two books were silly fluff, with a largely unlikeable heroine but enough of a quirky setup that I was interested to read on. Train stops here, though.

Betsy becomes even more shallow, pigheaded and crass, if that's possible. Everyone else operates as spokes on her self-centered little wheel. Plot points are brought up only to be left as loose ends. Betsy's half-sister seems to be a plot thread, except that there's no real event or resolution involving her. Sinclair's an idiot who is app...more

WARNING: This is more rant then review and may contain spoilers

Okay, what the hell did I just read?

Was anyone as confused as me by the end of this book? Where was the action? The conflict? The plot? It felt like I was reading the longest first chapter ever.

Betsy was even worse in this book. If that's even possible. All she thought about was herself and how everything was going shitty for her. Um, hello, from where I sit, you have absolutely nothing to complain about! Your family knows you're...more

What I loved: This book still had the Betsy humor that I love! There was very funny moments--mostly between Betsy/Sinclair and Betsy/Jessica. Though Tina is still my favorite character in the series because she is just so, for lack of a better word, Tina!

What I liked: I liked learning more about Betsy's role as queen and how she tries to incorporate all her responsibilities with her life. It really makes her more human in a lot of ways.

Complaints: This book was not as good as the first 2. I rea...more

Das sagt doch schon alle...more

Betsy, queen of the dead, is back for book 3 and this time she owns her own nightclub - she inherited it as part of the spoils (killing another vampire) as she did in the last book, Undead and Unemployed, though she is having problems with the staff.

She finds out that she has a half sister in this book and that her sister Laura is the devil’s daughter (The devil being Betsy's step mother under possession). It is written in the book of the dead that her sister is destined to take over the world....more

This book in my opinion is a lot more gripping than the original two but I guess the first two in this series could be a gentle and very humerous intro into the world of Betsy Taylor and the Vamps.
In this book the plot is a tad more complex and deep, a new character is introduced but like all the others tend to be a contradiction of their stereotype -daughter of the devil- but that's what make the characters so strong. They're all uniquely different, they have their own charms, motive, attitude...more

I'm really surprised - almost stunned - at how much I'm enjoying this series, since I'm not all that crazy about most urban fantasy. But how can you not love a 6-months-dead vampire who turns out to be Queen of the Vampires AND who has a shoe fetish?! Granted, I don't even recognize the names of many of the expensive shoemakers, but Betsy does know an expensive shoe when she sees it, especially when the she-devil is wearing it (I jumped ahead just a little with that detail).

Betsy is still trying...more

Queen Betsey can't seem to catch a break. Sinclair has moved in (she can't decide whether she's angry about this or not), her nightclub can't seem to attract patrons unless she lifts her ban on killing people, there's an evil book hanging out in the library, AND her wicked stepmother was apparently possessed by the Devil eighteen years ago and had a kid who is destined to take over the world. Of course, it's Queen Betsey's job to fix it all. At least she has awesome shoes.

I was disappointed in...more

Betsy is back with her usual charm. It has been a while since I read Undead and Unemployed Undead and Unemployed (Undead, #2), so I have kind of missed Jessica and Marc (Betsy's friends), Tina (another young-looking vampire friend), and of course the gorgeous Eric Sinclair.

In this book, Elizabeth Taylor the Queen of the Undead finds out that she has a long-lost half sister. Wait... that's not the surprise. This sister turns out to be the Devil's (yup, that one from Hell) daughter, and has been destined to take over the World.

Betsy Taylor is still trying to adjust not only to being undead, but a Vampire Queen. It hasn't been easy; especially the not being able to eat meat and having to drink blood part. She also has to deal with employees of her nightclub Scratch and her attraction to her vampire consort Eric Sinclair. All of this is more than enough but she also has family matters to deal with - her stepmother (who hates Betsy) is pregnant and Betsy finds out that she has a half sister, who just happens to be the de...more

I enjoyed the first two books so I assumed I would enjoy the 3rd. The writing was still good but the plot wasn't. I can't even say it was a plot. It seemed as if someone drew out the first chapters of a book and turned them into a book. The plot just isn't there.

The devil shows up briefly in what could have been a great scene instead it is a showcase on how stupid Betsy can be.

Betsy who may be written as a bit of an airhead has never been written as stupid but in this book she was simply stupid....more

The introduction to Betsy's sister, as the spawn of Satan seemed like it was going to be a really cool direction to take the plot. But I didn't expect it to be so uninteresting or unrevealing by the time I got to the end. I wondered for a little - did they leave out a few chapters? So, after reading all the way to the end, I have no idea what the implications of Laura and her being the devil's daughter is. Frankly, this installment, I could see made into a 60 minute episode. There wasn't much go...more

Blurb From Goodreads

Fans can't get enough of author MaryJanice Davidson and her topsy-turvy world of the undead with its newly-crowned queen, Betsy Taylor.

Now, Betsy continues her reluctant reign while being bedeviled by family secrets.

My Review

Picking up where we left Betsy she now has a club to run (since she acquired it from her last kill - thats how it works in the vampire world). Betsy finds out some family news and then a family skeleton comes out of the closet that could influence the who...more

Ok, So I am still really enjoying the comic humor of this series. The added development of Besty having a half-sister who is actually a spawn of the devil and who rebels against her demon mother by being a nice, decent church going girl is great. And there is the hint of darkness MJD added in the middle of the book where Betsy finally reads the Book of The Dead and acts out in an extremely shocking fashion (I think Jessica forgave her way too easily). All that is great. And the books still make...more

No longer unemployed, Betsy Taylor, Queen of the Undead, is back and running her very own Vampire nightclub! But everything isn't easy as pie being a new nightclub proprietor. She'd acquired the business in an unconventional way (she staked the previous owner and everything she owned was passed down to Betsy) and the staff loves her as much they love the sunlight. But an uncooperative staff and failing business isn't Betsy's biggest problem at the moment. As if being 'dead' wasn't a big enough p...more

I have to say that I didn't like the description too much but I was interested in continuing Betsy's saga as she is very entertaining. I did really love this book though the description is a little wrong because her dad actually comes to her house and he let's it slip that the stepmonster and he had a baby that was given up for adoption.

It is an interesting ride yet again, as Betsy decides to take charge and reads the Book of the Dead which drives her crazy for a little bit. She goes after every...more

Undead and Unappreciated is book 3 in Mary Janice Davidson's hilarious Queen Betsy Series. You must be thinking that I'm on some kind of undead kick here - and you're RIGHT! After a slow start to the series, these books just keep getting better and better.

Betsy Taylor will tell you, it ain't easy bein' Queen (especially when you're Queen of the vampires.) Her life is in crisis. Newly returned from Europe, her sexy sneaky consort King Eric Sinclair, is determined to win her over without telling h...more

So, this one wasn't that eventful except for Betsy going nuts and nearly alienating everyone that cares about her. Granted, it was a result of trying to find out the things she needed to know from the source, but she was pretty shitty. I'm glad that didn't last long. It could have been dragged out, but thankfully, it wasn't.

Betsy finds out she's got a long lost half-sis and decides to track her down, which she does. The girl is supposedly the devil's daughter and they find out this was made poss...more

Still lovin' Sinclair... *sigh* He may, as Jessica so nicely put it "have pussy thrown at him from cars", but his heart belongs to Betsy, and in this third book in the series they finally come to the mutual realisation they love each other. Before that, though, Betsy goes evil for a bit and discovers she has a long-lost half-sister who is the Devil's daughter. As you do.

The introduction of Laura, the thoroughly nice spawn of Satan, is a welcome twist to the series, and I'm sure as I read on she...more

I really enjoy Davidson’s style of writing. I like her random, Gilmore Girls’ esque style, and I enjoy the stories she tells. The one thing that bothers me, and that I really don’t want to get too tired of, is how similar all of her stories are. Her main characters tend to have a hard time opening up to love, are very open with how much they cuss, the guy tends to fall first, and a lot of the time they even kiss or have sex before they’ve fully fallen. And I don...more

another wonderful vampire romp... the series has not yet lagged! :) The ending on this one was a bit off- I was thinking the "big fight" at then end of the book was yet to come, when in fact it had already occurred... not that the "big fight" wasn't dramatic - there was also a big reveal with the "big fight" - but it seemed that there was too much of the book left to go for the climax/ "big fight" to be at the end of the book. I think I was fooled by the pages left in the edition I was reading.....more

Once again, a fun read with laughs. This one didn't have as many laughs and the fun started to be a little tiring for me. To be fair, this the 3rd one I've read in a month so I may just need to put it down for a month or two. It is the same silliness and it can get old if you get to much at a time. I wanted to get down with the series, but I think I'll have to take it slowly.

In this installment, everything seems to go wrong for Betsy. She alienates her friends and Sinclair and feels all alone. L...more

Undead and Unappreciated is the third book in the Undead series by MaryJanice Davidson featuring reluctant vampire queen Betsy Taylor. Betsy has now been a vampire for 6 months, and she still refuses to accept the fact that she’s the vampire’s queen. She now owns a nightclub that became hers after she killed Monique, along with all of her possessions. Of course, Monique tried unsuccessfully to kill her several times before that. The only problem is, the vampires hate her, and want her dead.
