description

This book is okay; compared to a lot of Sherrilyn Kenyon’s other books it is okay, not great but okay. Can’t say I’d recommend it, because I really didn’t like either of the characters but it is entertaining, although truthfully check out some of her other novella’s, this one really isn’t that good.

"3.5 stars" I found Dragonswan to be an interesting departure from Sherrilyn Kenyon's usual writing style. I admit that I have only read a handful of her stories, but of the ones I have read to date, her style seems to be a combination of humorous and touching. Dragonswan had a little of both of these characteristics, but seemed much more serious in it's presentation of the mythological angle. It is related to the Dark-Hunters series, and I think that perhaps it is meant to present some extra hi...more

This short story introduces the dragon shifter to the Dark Hunter series. I believe it was a short story because it only took a few pages to explain this world and I don't think a full length novel was needed. Sometimes, I see, why authors give us just a bit. To explain what they need and move on. Esp in these series. I liked the character storyline and explanation of the creation of their species. It goes into a lot of detail whereas in other novels its just a couple sentences.

Pure romantic escapism with smexysex.

I had downloaded this for free a while ago, and randomly read it while traveling because of it was short. Which is what I recommend you do--download it for free, I mean. Because this was a typical instalust tale featuring a good-girl-but-inner-freak heroine and a highly fecund, hotter-than-your-mother's-electric-stove alpha male who is also...PART REPTILE.

I said fecund!!

My point being, this book is like 14872048 other paranormal smut on sale in bookstores. I...more

It's very rare that I thoroughly dislike a book. This is a novella (Book #2 in the Dark Hunter series) included in a book called Tapestry. I'd recommend skipping it if you're reading the DH series. Its lack of character or plot development is disappointing. The story is terribly rushed with absolutely no suspense or anticipation leading up to the main characters' relationship. This story is not at all pertinent to follow the flow of the remaining books in the Dark Hunter series. I wish I hadn't...more

I didn't like the fact that there were only 86 pages in Dragonswan because as with all SK's books, I want to keep reading about her characters. This was a story that could have have gone on and on. I loved Channon and Sebastion and their relationship. In reality, only Sherrilyn Kenyon could have created a beautiful love story in 86 pages.

While essentially nothing more than a short story published on its own, I must give Sherri excellent kudos for having the knack of creating short stories that do her work justice. It takes a true talent to write a novel, but it takes a defined gift to tell a riveting story in only a defined set of pages. Dragonswan, to me, was, put simply, great. Through the character of Sebastian- the Were-Hunter dragon- Sherri was able to incorporate the degree of time travel, which meshed perfectly with Charo...more

Really great story. Very cute. Made me go "awwwwe" (multiple times). And REALLY sexy. I was definitely feeling the heat.

As always, the story was quite imaginative. How this world works has its own unique details, and Kenyon, as she often does, plays around with her unique story line based on multi-cultural, historical myth(s) (Multi-cultural meaning she stays true to each cultures myth, and she isn't afraid to combine them throughout her series). This one is focused on old-english speaking Saxon...more

I absolutely loved this book. It goes against my believes that short stories aren't as satisfying as a full scale novels are.
The books was fairly short but it is all I'm looking for in a fantasy book. IT was dark, dangerous, very, very sexy, mysterious, entertaining and compelling. It was absolutely fabulous and I enjoyed it very, very much.
It also gave me a pretty good explanation about the Arcadians and the Katagarians, It gave me an understanding to their world and their rules.

The Dragonswan novella was originally published in the Tapestry anthology that also features stories from Karen Marie Moning, Lynn Kurland and Madeline Hunter but has since been published on it's own in both paperback and ebook formats. This is a novella so don't expect a full length book, I believe it is about 80 pages long (I read the kindle version so can't be 100% sure on that) and if you're looking for a quick but fun read then this is perfect. This fits into the Dark-Hunters series between...more

Mythology, hot guy with ancient tattoos, dragons...This short story had it all. We get a really different take on the DH world, with this one. The hero, Sebastian is a dragon-shape shifter who time travels into the present time to steal a Dragon Tapestry that's hanging in a museum. The heroine, Channon, is an professor who happens to be obsessed with the same tapestry.

Being at the same place at the same time one night, takes meeting your future lover to the next level. Immediately attracted to...more

Dragonswan, now this story was right up my alley. I love PNR and am falling in love with Sherrilyn Kenyon as well. I love everything about this novella. Anything Mythology is my weakness, hot guy with ancient tattoos, like icing on the cake. Also this story was remotely related to SK’s Dark-Hunters Series, my new found love. The hero was a dragon shape-shifter Saxon hunk, who time-traveled to the present time to steal the Dragon Tapestry, hung in the museum in Richmond, VA. The heroine was an An...more

As a UVA grad, I'm just excited that she chose the school for her character to teach at--good choice and she sounds like the history profs. too. If only she were real--my own pre-Norman Britain course was kinda boring. Then again, she likes the research, not so much the teaching which is usually the sign of the boring teachers. And phew--For a minute there I was worried Kenyon was going to move UVA to Richmond, but I'm curious as to why Channon needs a taxi--she's against driving the hour to Ric...more

Wow, I fell in love with Sabastian, sexy, tattooed, darkly handsome, old world dragon/man that he is. He meets Channon and is instantly attracted to her at a museum as she studies a dragon tapestry. Needless to say tall, yummy Sebastian claims to know the answers to the questions that Channon has regarding the tapestry. A very steamy evening, then a surprise bonding and Channon finds herself transported back in time with Sabastian and learns all there is to know regarding the tapestry, Sabastian...more

I have a feeling that every one of these I read is going to be similar. I like them, but this is the second time I read about the guy meeting this girl who isn't usually his type, can't be with due to obligations in his life but OMG MUST HaVE HER cuz he can't bear to be away from her even though they just met... Same for the girl who is written as self conscious, thinks poorly of her looks. Says that somehow this dude completes her and she aches for him to possess her. It's the same thing each t...more

SPOILERS

This is the story of Sebastian Kattalakis and Channnon.

I really liked this story but felt that it should have been a full novel and would have been much better with fuller character development and background. The were stories are my favourite and this had great potential, I would have loved to read it as a full novel. The book gives a lot of the background on the werehunters; their origins, the war between Arcadian and katagaria, the mating and bonding process and is a must read for al...more

If you have been following this series as I have, then being introduced to a form of WereHunter that has only been mentioned in other books and getting a little bit more history is interesting. But the story itself? Meh. The first 20% of the book is nothing but "he's so hot she's so hot every move he makes is hot she's everything that's been missing in my life blah blah blah". Sure you always get this in these kinds of books, but this just went on far too long and even though the story picks up...more

Very quick read, but I loved the chemistry between Channon and Sebastian. He had a nice quirk to him that you just had to love. Could totally picture his dimples whenever he did something devilish or he told the truth in a fashion that she just wouldn't believe. They were cute.

(view spoiler)[Really loved their first love making scene! Just picturing him holding her from behind while he made love to her was so hot! Not sure I dug his whole "mated against his will" thing though. He really seemed t...more

Dragonswan was a fantastic short tale full of magic and romance!
My second story from this fabulous author, I am definitely hooked and can’t wait to read more. Sebastian is a Dragon Slayer who has the ability to move back and forth between times. Traveling to the present, he is planning to steal the legendary Dragon Tapestry, originally crafted by his sister, so that he can ransom it for his brother's life. When entering the museum Sebastian happens upon the intriguing Channon who is a scholar th...more

Dragonswan was the first were-hunter story published and I must say I can see why. The story is about a historian, Channon MacRea and a dragon were-hunter, Sebastian Kattalakis. When Sebastian goes to the 21st century to steal a tapestry he meets Channon. After a one night stand that both couldn't resist Sebastian finds himself mated to Channon. Taking her back to the middle ages, Channon discovers that her handsome companion is more that she ever imagined.

This was a great short story in the DH...more

As a huge Sherrilyn Kenyon fan, I couldn’t wait to read “Tapestry” for her contribution. “Dragonswan” is set in the Dark Hunter universe and features an Arcadian Dragon named Sebastian. He is in present day America to recover a tapestry made by his sister. He needs it as a ransom to free his kidnapped brother. He meets Channon, a historian, and they are instantly attracted to each other. They sleep together and become mated by the Fates. Sebastian brings her back to his time and their feelings f...more

This book was very... anticlimactic... Everything about it was rather stale and predictable. Even the sex scenes were boring, and I found myself hoping there wouldn't be very many of them. Luckily, in a book that was ((thankfully)) this short, there was only room for two.

Something tells me that maybe this book just wasn't very good because there wasn't enough of it to really go into detail about things. Then again, the characters were very much like any other romance novel hero and heroine.

A quicky. Get in, get off, get out. It's amazing how the author mixed romance, action, and history in this short story. I agree with the other readers that it was well written and concise. Of course, missing links are inevitable but the characters were introduced gradually but the main focus is the hero. Sherrilyn Kenyon adds drama to her heroes and like other reviews mentioned, hers are the perfect embodiment of women's fantasy. They are all physically pefect, with an interesting history, but d...more

Kenyon gives shapeshifters an interesting twist in this precursor to her Dark-Hunter series. This story is something of a tease as it doesn't have the depth, or rich supporting mythology, that the D-H novels have. And Sebastian, the dragon shapeshifter who can travel through time, is somewhat short-changed. He's interesting and sexy; this would have made a much better novel. However, it is a good introduction to the D-H world. I agree with another reviewer that the heroine was quite bland, but f...more

I was unsure when I started reading this book and was instantly thrown into a sexual attraction between Sebastian and Channon. I could feel myself inwardly groan thinking that this was going to be yet another bad smutty romance novel with no real storyline. But I was pleasantly surprised and ended up liking the book. Sebastian was yummy, although I found Channon to be a bit boring...it was worth reading about her to get some sexy Sebastian time in:) I felt the book was the perfect length and can...more

A SHORT AND QUICK READ. But full of romance and magic.

I don’t want to go into detail about the story since it was just a short read. But this was fun, fast and enjoyable read especially if you are really a fan of Sherrilyn Kenyon’s series, The Dark Hunters.

I adore Sebastian , aside from his good looks; he’s romantic and very sensitive to other’s feelings. He’s also has a great sense of humor.

I just don't appreciate the love story since there wasn't enough time to establish the romance between t...more

"Dragonswan," written shortly after Fantasy Lover, it is Sherrilyn's first were-hunter story. It takes us into a world of, you guessed it, DRAGONS.

This has to be one of the few anthologies I've ever read where I feel that it was missing nothing. It had the connection between the hero and heroine and a complete plot line which I find a lot of anthologies lack. If you are a fan of the were-hunter series, it also spells out exactly what it means to be a were-hunter and the history behind them. Fabu...more
