I've read all of the Jessica Fletcher books. Easy reads and yes, sometimes they get a little hokey. I mean the woman knows everyone on the planet, or so it seems.
This time she is on a lecture/vacation on the Queen Mary 2 and the crossing starts in London where a diamond has been stolen and a murder committed. She meets the central characters at a dinner party the night before she is ready to leave London and they are on the ship with her.

"The Queen's Jewels" is not your typical mystery involving our friend from Cabot Cove, Maine. The story itself starts out as a simple cruise across the Atlantic for Jessica Fletcher on the Queen Mary 2 for which she's been asked to speak about her novels. The trip itself however is done in the shadow of a series of jewelry robberies in England as her help is enlisted by George Sutherland of Scotland Yard. The story itself is as always easy to read & the twists & turns in this one make it...more
In the popular Murder, She Wrote series, based on the long-running television show of the same name, mystery writer Jessica Fletcher helps solve murders. This book, The Queen's Jewels, takes place aboard a voyage on the Queen Mary 2. Jessica is giving a lecture followed by a book signing of her latest novel. Not only does a murder takes place on board, disrupting her plans for a relaxing voyage, but there are rumors about an international jewel thief as one of the passengers. The ship is filled...more
I love the "Murder, She Wrote" books. They are light, entertaining reading. Jessica Fletcher is a well-traveled lady and it's interesting to visit all the different places with her. It does boggle the mind a bit that, everywhere she goes, there seems to be a murder and she's always right in the thick of it. Ah, but, what the heck! So, she's a murder magnet. It definitely makes for fun reading, even if sometimes the motives and the murderer are somewhat predictable. The cruise ship sounded absolu...more
When Jessica Fletcher agrees to be a lecturer on the new Queen Mary 2, she doesn't expect to be sharing the voyage with a jewel thief and the famous, recently stolen (and supposedly accursed) Heart of India blue diamond. What a coincidence that she meets the partner of the murdered owner and a woman in the jewelry trade! It's even more surprising when she finds that two people from her past are on the ship--under false identities. It's the mixture as before, more or less, and if you enjoy the se...more
This book like all the others in the Murder, She Wrote series was a fun and interesting mystery. The murder in this book did occur fairly late in the book and the end/reveal of "who did it" was a bit complicated, that needed more explanation in coming chapters than usual, which made it not quite as good as the others. Despite these minor negatives the book was good and the limited group/area of suspects with them all being on the boat (just like a train snowed in hotel, etc) always makes for a g...more

Hey, it's Jessica. The famous Heart of India diamond has been stolen and the owner killed while in London. Jessica is in London preparing to give lectures on the maiden voyage of the Queen Mary 2 as it travles from England toNew York. More dead bodies on board the cruise ship. A few friends to help solve the murders. Classic Jessica.
Donald Bain is a great guy and I love the Jessica Fletcher books. Always a good comfort read and enjoyable with all the different settings in which she finds herself. This time she's on a crossing on the Queen Mary (sounds really glamourous like the Titanic!). A certain twist at the end makes this a solid entry in the series. May Jessica Fletcher live forever!
In typical Murder, She Wrote fashion, Jessica gets pulled into a mystery by a combination of her connections and her curiosity. Throughout the book she seemed a little peevish, even bad-tempered, to the point of being rude a few times, which seems a bit out of the ordinary. The end is quite melancholy.

It seemed to have a slow start, but it definitely picked up and it was a great ending. I love the Murder, She Wrote series, some, of course, are better than others, but I've liked every one that I have read. They are very well written. If you have seen the show's you can kind of picture Jessica Fletcher in the scenes and her facial expressions.

Not bad for being the second one in a row I read set on a boat. I am sorry George didn't get to sail with her, they are a good team together.

This book had me hooked from beginning to end. I loved the setting (a transatlantic voyage on Cunard's Queen Mary 2 cruise ship), the jewel theives, all the agents with double identities and the fact that the book started off in London. Jessica's maybe-love interest George Sutherland also plays a role in this one (although Seth isn't in it much and I did miss him a bit). Another great installment in the Murder She Wrote series!
