Though I had heard of Dewey Readmore Books before this children's picture book I had not really been introduced and I'm delighted to know of such a sweet kitty cat. As a cat lover myself and admitted book-a-holic what could be better than a library cat? Dewey's Christmas at the Library in a word is Dewey-lishious. Every page is filled with imagination and thought where this sweet kitty learns about Christmas and helps make it a special time. I'm delighted with this book and I will have to find m ...more
This book was pretty cute. I liked the illustrations. They had a painterly effect. I think the illustrator may have been working from photos or using their own cat as a model for Dewey in the book because he was pretty spot-on. There is one part where he's looking at some yarn or something to pounce on and he has that "crazy cat look" in his eye. The use of the word "Dew-riffic" was a bit overboard, but I also have a bias against words like that (including purrr-fect).

If there is one thing that children at my school love it is animals. Especially dogs. And especially cats. Celebrity dogs and cats are quite popular. Including Dewey.

Now combine the celebrity cat with Christmas and you’ve got a lovely story that all will like.

We love this Dewey book as well...the illustrations are spot on for cat expressions! Reminds me of when my cat used to be so playful...but he's an old fart now and just wants to sleep all day :)

This delightful book is not just for children. Dewey's legacy lives on and will touch your heart!

This is the follow-up to Dewey: There's a Cat in the Library!, which told the story of Dewey's arrival and life at the library. In this book, Dewey is a year old, and is discovering holidays.
Christmas holds many wonders for Dewey as he amuses himself with yarn and the tree. While the actual holiday seems "lonely" to him, he enjoys the preparation beforehand and the return of the tree afterwards.
I recommend everyone to read this one!

This was a really sweet Christmas-Dewey the library cat book. Dewey's books are based on true life stories of the real Dewey=Read=Moore cat. He lives at a library and helps the children and adults alike pick out books and just in general feel better. In this book this is his first Christmas and he's not sure about when decorations are being put up. However he loves the tree and actually helps decorate it when everyone goes home(by that he takes a string of red yarn and chase it around the tree. ...more

3.5/5 Stars

I preferred this Dewey over There's a Cat in the Library. This one was more focused on the Christmas theme rather than jumping around all over the place. Plus I think it is a nice addition to a child's list of fun Christmas books that also celebrate a love of the library.
Please, PLEASE do not let cats play with tinsel or yarn!!! Both of these items have caused many cats to require surgery and can even be deadly.
My kindergartner enjoyed the book. I had to try to not have a conniption fit over the tinsel and yarn.

Another cute book about Dewey. I love seeing christmas and decorating from the point of view of a cat. It's amazing and pictures are so adorable. My daughter had fun seeing what all Dewey got up to.

And seeing the illustrations bringing his first Christmas to life :)
Every Dewey fan and cat lovers should read it.
Cute story, tad sad but good. Beautiful illustrations. Story line easy to follow for young children and a book I would read again and again.

This is a fun read for the kids. It was very realistic, if you've ever had cats you can relate to some of the events that happened in this book. The kids laughed and enjoyed the story. They love cats, so they like this one a lot.

Aww... I love Dewey. The artist did a good job capturing his likeness based on the photos I've seen and also in capturing what cats look like when being crazy with all the trappings of Christmas. The look he has on his face when fighting with the red ball of yarn is particularly good lol! A very cute book.

This book would make a great gift for a child or any adult familiar with the Dewey books. Appealing, positive, and very holiday!! Beautifully illustrated by Steve James----Dedication: "for all the children I have loved in my life."

* Precious for a read aloud! Based on a true story. Could be used to research the true story and then compare it to the book.

* Creative writing: Some of the book is told from Dewey's point of view.

Another adaptation to the original Non-fiction Dewey, which takes children on Dewey's Christmas adventures at the library. A favourite that has been added to our collection

I enjoyed how this was based on a true story. Dewey IS real & was a library cat, how cool is that?
Ethan & I both got a kick out of the story & I hope I can find some more Dewey books soon.

Read this to 2nd grade... They loved it! Mentioned to them beforehand that Dewey was a real cat and they wanted to know more about him.
Dewey is learning about Christmas and discovers a Dewey tree in the lobby but then it is gone. Where did Dewey's tree go?
