When Thomas Dooley learns his lifelong best friend, Cassandra Vojek, is pregnant, he does the honorable thing by proposing marriage, a celibate marriage. He is determined to protect her reputation and give her baby his name. Dooley also believes the marriage will give him an advantage in obtaining a managerial position in the company he is with. Their plan is a temporary one, that will end in divorce after the baby is born and Cass and the babe are settled in.

This novella set in the Boston area is candidly written with a wonderful blend of passion and humor. It examines, or rather chronicles, a relationship between two childhood friends who are now in their late twenties and have adult issues with which to wrestle. It is the perfect fast read for a summer afternoon or a winter evening. The main characters, Dooley and Cassandra are refreshingly unorthodox, yet also real. Only available as an e-book, but only $5 and change. Treat yourself.
