I love the characters in this series! They are so real and so on fire for God. I would love to know these people in real life! Emily and Chance just warm my heart. I love how Chance pursued Emily. Sometimes, while reading a book it will annoy me because the hero won’t pursue the heroine for some reason or another, but that wasn’t the case in this book at all! I love men like Chance. Willing to stick up for their girl, protective, compassionate, hardworking… However, he is still human and has his ...more

Okay, I'm sure this has a good premise and I could almost get into it when she started talking about old furniture and stuff, but the romance part of it KILLS ME!! I hate love at first sight crap AND I just wanted to poke my eyes out with how perfect this guy is. He loves God, he knows how to do dishes, he just needs to be a little more real. I mean, my husband loves God and knows how to do dishes, but I don't know....I just couldn't even finish it. Sorry. I don't adore the bad boys of books but ...more

Enjoyed this one even more than the first in the series, Jenna's Cowboy. This one focuses on the youngest Callahan son, Chance, who we had got to know a bit from the previous book. I loved how Chance knew what he wanted and wasn't afraid to go after it and be vocal about his goal. Emily was sweet and also has a goal in mind that she is going after, but as the story progresses she begins to wonder if it is really what she wants or what her parents want for her. We travel along with Chance and Emi ...more

Emily's Chance by Sharon Gillenwater was a gift given to me by the Easter Bunny this year (thanks mom!). I think I was overdue for a cowboy romance novel. This was a good one.

Much of the town has been ravaged by fire and Emily's trying to figure out what the point in staying is. Since her purpose of vising Callahan Crossing was to help get its small museum off the ground. Chance is hoping to give her a reason to stay, perhaps permanently. He fell in love with her the moment he saw her and it w

Sharon Gillenwater has done it again. She makes the fictional town of Callahan Crossing, Texas, come alive with complex characters, rich history and of course romance. It really helped that the historian in me could very much relate to Emily Rose and her desire to help establish a museum with the Callahan Crossing Historical Society. And Chance Callahan? well if you loved Nate from Jenna's Cowboy all I can say is you will be very happy to meet up with Chance again. I'll say this, bowling never l ...more

After first meeting the Callahans of Texas in Jenna's Cowboy, I couldn't wait to get my hands on Emily's Chance. Now, I'm impatiently waiting to see what takes place in Megan's Hero (due out 6/1/2011) -- it sounds like another touching story.

We very briefly met Emily Rose at the end of Jenna and Nate's story, when Chance helped her haul boxes out of the Callahan Crossing Historical Museum during the wildfire that destroyed so many homes and businesses. Emily's Chance picks up shortly after. The

I fell in love with Sharon's books when I had the chance to tour her first Callahans of Texas book, Jenna's Cowboy. Man, was that an awesome, awesome book! I loved the feel of the plot and the amazing characters that Sharon created. It was a book that I knew I had to read more of like it. So, when the opportunity to tour her newest release, Emily's Chance, I could NOT pass it up! I will tell you now that I was NOT in ANY way disappointed with book 2. It was just as fabulous (more so, I think!) a ...more

Chance Callahan virtually fell in love with Emily Rose from the moment he met her. Emily was hired to organize the tiny museum the Callahan Crossing’s historical society was hoping to put together, but she’d barely started sorting through the old photos and paperwork when the town suffered a massive setback and the building they were using as the museum burned.

EMILY’S CHANCE by Sharon Gillenwater is the second installment in the Callahans of Texas series. While JENNA’S COWBOY centered on Jenna Callahan, EMILY’S CHANCE brings Chance Callahan – one of Jenna’s brother to the forefront.

As the small town of Callahan Crossing recovers from a devastating fire, Chance Callahan sets his sights and his heart on Emily Rose, the newly acquired historian hired to get the Callahan Crossing Museum up and running. After two brief encounters, Chance is convinced Emil

I was thrilled by how "real" this book was! The book was well-written and flowed really well. The feelings of the characters and the situations that arose felt very true to life, in my opinion, and the dialogue was engaging, witty, and just what the reader would expect to hear from these characters in these settings. The author even brought in cell phones and texting in such a cute and fun way!

The romance was very sweet, and the dilemma of having to choose between a career and love is something

Too much of a good thing is too much of a good thing, so having said that on occasion I go off the reservation and try to diversify my reading material. Emily’s Chance is one of those breaks. This is not a tale of international intrigue or Emily saving the world from terrorists. She’s a different character for me, and I enjoyed it. A nice shifting of the gears , a breath of fresh air if you will. Okay I think you got the point, here is a synopsis of the novel; I got this from the back cover of t ...more

This is the second book in the Callahan's of Texas series.

It centers around Chance Callahan and the lovely lady he falls in love with at first sight. In the first book of the series we are there when Chance helps Emily save the artifacts from the historical society. When he comes back to the church after fighting the fire he sees Emily again and falls in love instantly.

This books starts about 1 week after Jenna and Nate's wedding. While Chance has fallen in love with Emily at first site he does

Emily's Chance written by Sharon Gillenwater is a great christian romance novel set in Texas. It is the second book in The Callahans of Texas series but can easily be read as a stand alone work, in fact I didn't have the opportunity to read the first book, Jenna's Cowboy ,but had no problems jumping right into this novel.

The story opens up with the small town of Callahan's Crossing recovering from a devastating wildfire. Emily Rose Denny was in Callahan Crossing hired by the historical society t

EMILY'S CHANCE by Sharon Gillenwater is a inspirational contemporary romance set in modern day Callahan Crossing, Texas. This is the second in The Callahan's of Texas,(Book one Jenny's Cowboy), but can be read as a stand alone. It is well written with details, depth, and surprises. It has romance, secrets, faith, hope, healing, forgiveness, and letting go of the past. The characters are charming, engaging, and will capture your heart. In January I was introduced to the writing of author Sharon Gillenwater and had mixed feelings. Her research is incredible and I love the story, but I felt like the book Jenna's Cowboy ended in a lurch and that messed it up for me. In starting Emily's Chance I discovered that it picks up immediately from where we left off, and in the case that I would have had this book ready to read right away might have made a difference on my feelings then as I am happy to find out more about the lives of the ...more

A great follow on from Jenna's Cowboy, I enjoyed this one even more! Chance Callahan, the youngest son in the family finds himself immediately drawn to Emily Rose, an aspiring museum curator who is setting up the Callahan Crossing museum.

Chance knows he's going to marry Emily, she just doesn't know it, yet! Emily's Chance is a great look at ranch life, the hustle and bustle of the city, the Christian faith and family relationships. An entertaining and delightful read.

The characters and setting are likable, though somewhat idyllic. I enjoyed the descriptions of small town life in TX. Most of all I appreciated the fact that the main character, a Christian man, was portrayed actively living out his relationship with God through prayer, reading his Bible and other ways. Both the main characters learned and grew through the progression of the plot. The book is slow paced and probably not very realistic, but I enjoyed it. =)

This was a delightful read...as was the first book in the series. I enjoyed reading something that was Christian and not full of sex scenes. Emily comes to town to help re-open the town museum...and ends up falling in love, which was something she never intended to do because she set high standards for herself as in becoming the BEST museum curator of a very BIG museum...to prove to her parents there is life other than modeling or being a plastic surgeon...BUT she never dream Change would step i ...more

I don't know why, but lately, reading contemporary christian fiction has been a real struggle for me. Throw the story back a hundred years and away I go. Perhaps its the greater chance of running into troubled marriages or infidelity. I am currently 150 pages in and I don't know that there is any of that in this book. There is this sense though, that something yucky is about to happen or be revealed. I feel bad even saying so because the characters seem sweet. Yet it has taken me 3 days to get t ...more

Enjoyed visiting Callahan Crossing again. Writing, characterizations, and plot were all good. I liked that this book picked up where the previous one left off. Good messages of depending on God to lead your life, and being at peace with all mean as far as you are able. Also enjoyed seeing Nate, Jenna, and Zach again.

I liked it better than the first but still pretty dull. Chance was just to perfect. He never made any real mistakes and therefore, never felt human to me. I did like Emily's character though. She had flaws and real world troubles that made her a relate able character.

Emily's Chance is about a young aspiring curator, Emily, who's in West Texas trying to develop her resume working in Callahan Crossing Historical Museum. Chance Callahan is the young contractor intent on winning her heart, as he knows she's "the one."

This is the second book in The Callahans of Texas series by Sharon Gillenwater. I didn't read book 1, but book 2 works ok as a stand alone book.

Emily's Chance didn't really grab me. The plot was uncaptivating and I felt like I was plodding through

Emily's Chance, WOW

What a sweet continuation of the family Callahans, the story is so awesome I can't wait to read the next....

Pretty good book. Romance on the ranch with a city girl and country boy. Slow at times but worth reading.
Joan Arning
Chance knows that Emily is the woman for him but he has to convince her. Emily has big career plans in the city while Chance is a country man who likes being near his family. Emily has to decide whether her career is God's plan for her life or what her father has demanded she do.

I didn't enjoy this one as much as the first one, but it was still good. The thing I didn't like about it was how inevitable everything was. I know that the only reason I read romances is for the HEA, but it's nice for at least the characters to have a little uncertainty. And while Emily had it, Chance was in love at first site and just "knew" she was the one. I wasn't completely sold on that point, but I did like how he was willing to move to where her job was in order to make it work.
