In Celia Graves’s world, vampires roam the alleys of Tinseltown, street corner psychics have real powers, and cops use memory enhancement spells. But Celia thought she was an ordinary human, albeit one with a clairvoyant best friend and a ghostly little sister.

The vampire attack that made Celia an Abomination forces her to take food in liquid form and gives a whole new mea...more

Siren Song picks up right where Blood Song ends. Celia is still trying to come to grips with being an abomination. She still has to face her court date and the Queen of the Sirens; she doesn’t have time to be kidnapped.

While at Birwoods she is visited by her Siren cousin Ren, who presents her with a gift of a Wadjeti. She doesn’t know what to make of the visit but is concerned about what will happen when she finally gets to the island. She isn’t looking forward t meeting her grandmother, Queen L...more

This is a fitting sequel, a more than adequate sequel to the first book, "Blood Song," in Cat Adams' "Blood Singer" series. It does more than continue to develop the promise of that first book, it begins to deliver on the promise. This book is full of surprises and plot twists that kept this reader turning pages long after it was time for "lights out." Okay, so another author owes me sleep, not unusual for me.
Faced almost immediately with heart-breaking abandonment, Celia, our heroine, sets out...more

Goodness gracious. Celia - for F***S sakes - grow a clue! (view spoiler)[How about you start eating every four hours and bring some goddamn shakes in your purse, car, bag et cetera?? (hide spoiler)]
This book has:
1. Typos. Lots of them.
2. Unneccessary characters.
3. Clichés. "Greta the Nordic looking person whose English is heavily accented" made me feel bored and insulted at the same time. Do some research, ok, ladies? We're not all towering blondes with poor german accents and the names Inga or...more

Celia is now trying to save her life - over and over again. It's really hard to say much about this book without spoiling it for anyone. But, you would highly recommend reading the first book before you dive into this one. Celia is starting to deal with her vampirism and while some others are starting to accept it, others just can't (they feel she should be put down). But, a lot of things are answered in this book - why her sister died so young, why she's been having such bad luck all of her lif...more

Second in the Blood Singer urban fantasy series about Celia Graves, a bodyguard whose life has been turned inside out and upside down.

My Take
Whoa...this is a hard crowd! Adams certainly has a unique take on how vampires are considered in her world. Celia and Dr. Scott are kidnapped and she acts in self-defense saving both of their lives and all the prosecutor has to say is that if she ever "sets so much as a toe out of line, we will prosecute"? What about the cops who ignored what was happening?...more

Siren Song (Blood Singer, #2)Siren Song by Cat Adams

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I enjoyed Siren Song more than I thought I would but it would have gotten a bit higher rating from me if she would have indulged my need (and those of most normal people) for revenge, I don't particularly care for forgiveness when it looks more like stupidity. The action was good, the finale was a letdown and something that was supposed to be important was ignored (maybe it shows up in the next book). I guess this is another really good story that w...more

I strongly suggest you read the previous book in the series (Blood Song) prior to reading this installment.

I was really looking forward to reading this book since the end of Blood Song. The possibility of having a different preternatural creature to focus on, as oppose to the same old vampires, witches and demons was a nice prospect. However, I must admit this installment was a bit of a disappointment. The inconsistencies were too great to ignore; plus, the whole postmenopausal wo...more

I liked the first book in the series, and this second was just as enjoyable.

Still smart, funny, and feisty, Celia Graves, the protagonist kept my attention and I enjoyed seeing her through the second novel as much as I enjoyed meeting her in the last book.

This time she's meeting new, equally dysfunctional members of her family...a branch she knew nothing about until now. She has to cope with new talents, and more loss and betrayal.

A quick and easy, undemanding read, enjoyable, funny, and again,...more

Something's just not right in Celia Graves life. Assassination plots, harassing cops, a drunk mother, and it's only Monday. With one crisis after another Celia hardly has time to notice a pattern let alone breathe. In this second installment the action begins from the first page when Celia is abducted. Narrowly escaping the ordeal just leads to more reasons why the humans want Graves dead, and it's not helping her legal issues. In the meantime Celia is learning to balance her inner vampire witho...more

By the end of Blood Song, Celia Graves was half-vampire and half-human and had just discovered that she is the descendent of a Siren. She also has some unfinished business involving the King of Ruslan and a demon. This is the second in the trilogy and picks up immediately where the first leaves off. You don't have to have read Blood Song, but it will deepen your understanding and your empathy for the characters. Will Celia get back together with Bruno or will Creede distract her? What really hap...more

This book was a weird mix of the good and the disappointing.

The Good: Celia is an excellent main character, with a unique and entertaining voice. She’s strong, but she’s also has issues (getting turned into half-vampire and learning you’re a Siren can do that). Also, this book introduced a new character, John Creede, who has great potential as a secondary character, even possibly love interest. And the book was packed full of mystery, adventure, and a little horror.

The Bad: Two of the more inter...more

The second book in the Bloodsinger series the authors do a good job of continuing Cecelia Graves story, but if you haven't read the first book, or don't remember much of it, Blood Song, don't think you'll get much of an update when you start this one. Hints about the first book are present but there isn't much of a review, just a few reminders like how Cecelia helped save the King of Rusland's son, why she is an "abomination" not quite vampire, and part siren - the bite and not quite turning of...more

Another good book. I like the characters well enough that the shortcomings didn't bother me too much. Celia was still great, smart and brave, strong without being too pushy, and just likable. And the rest of the characters, large and small, continued to be vividly portrayed in this book. I have a terrible memory, but as an example, even now I can remember the names of her officemates (Ron and Bubba) because they were so well-described, even though they were minor characters. It adds a lot to the...more

WOW, this book just sucked me in right from the get go! i want more...but i had to go to work, boo.

i don't remember the first one being this good.

there are little tiny clues/references to past events from the previous book that just completely refreshed my memories of it!

i really appreciated the note from the authors at the beginning, saying pretty much, sorry if they're errors in the book, some are bound to get in.

and while i appreciate the heads up, the closer to the end it got, the more error...more

This is the 2nd novel in Cat Adams (aka CT Adams and Cathy Clamp) Blood Singer series. It picks up right after the first Novel "Blood Song" left off. So if you haven't read that book, please don't read anymore: major spoilers! ****************spoilers******************** Bodyguard Celia Graves (who works in Hollywood, CA) had survived a vampire attack while she was guarding a visiting prince from a middle eastern country, but he wasn't as he seemed. Finished Cat Adams' Siren Song and it was quite a good read. Great followup to Blood Song, but since it had been so long since I read that one, I kind of forgot some of the details. And there wasn't the best recap, I mean they did mention things that have come to past, but it took me awhile to orient myself back into the scheme of things.
It was a pretty quick read too. I read almost all of it yesterday and finished it this morning before moving to my next read. The plot was well paced as Celia i...more

The fiirst book in this series Blood Song took me longer than usual to finish. I had a serious problem getting into the book and I cant begin tonexplain why, if I had to guess I'd say at the beginning the main character is abrasive and hard to connect to. The more you find out about her does go along way towards explaining her behavior. This book is the second book in this series and after finally finishing the first I took the next two days and read the next three books in this series. I had fi...more

This second book is soooooooooooo much better than its predecessor (Blood Song). I decided to hang tight and read this second book in the series since the siren introduced at the end of Blood Song sparked my interests. Sure enough, this book was a much better book than the last one.

Some things that I could commend on about Siren Song, in comparison to Blood Song (view spoiler)[:
(1) Plot was much better - lots of actions going on. At least there was some excitement in the book that interested me

Definitely liked this book better than the previous one. I suppose that is because all the characters and back story are already pretty laid out. It still sometimes bothers me that the author makes references to past events that never occured in this, or the last, book. The character experienced things in childhood say, that she has not ever gone into detail about and yet, the events were significant enough to completely change the landscape and personality of the main character. I see that this...more

In BLOOD SONG, Celia was attacked by a vampire, but not turned completely. Instead she's an 'abomination', a sort of vampire limbo, with both perks and disadvantages. She also learned that her great-grandmother is a siren—yes, the magical variety who can sing men to their deaths—and since being bitten it appears that these traits have finally manifested. The perk: men come when she needs. The disadvantage: women hate her.

One would think that having some supernatural abilities might make life a l...more

Adams was encountered with quite a challenge in this second novel for the Blood Singer series. Blood Song was such an intense and spell binding novel; that I was concerned about the direction of this second novel. Successfully, she has continued the fast paced and action packed momentum. Celia Graves is an incredible character with witty and compassionate charm that promise attraction for all readers. Having discovered her Siren abilities in the end of Book one readers when expectant of a new di...more

Only reading this because it was at the library. I don't think they've written any more in this series yet anyway, but rest assured, I will not be waiting for the next release!

I actually liked this one better than the first. The writing was less annoying (fewer cliches and unnecessary italics) and the story fleshed out some pieces I felt were missing in the first book. I know there have to be some loose ends to make it a series, but the first book left a LOT. As much as I liked having the pieces...more

This is a nice follow-up to Blood Song. This book picks up right where we left off in Blood Song. Celia appears to be adjusting well to her new vamp/siren powers and isn't backing down from all of the new threats because of course there are people trying to kill her again. We find out who killed her best friend and we get resolution for her sister who is a ghost. Some of her most trustworthy friends actually turn out to be otherwise, which makes for some interesting twists to the story. Not much...more

In-short: A good read but can be a bit over complex at times.

Ginny’s Review:
Fast paced, complex and action packed.

This is how I would describe siren, the second instalment in Cat Adams blood song series. This book starts actually from where book finished with the up and coming court case and the therapy centre/prison for her new physical and mental condition.

This book is interesting but can drag a little bit in the middle as several plotli...more

Nothing if not resilient, Celia Graves is slowly adjusting to being a half-human, half-vampire Abomination. But her troubles are far from over. Her best friend''s murder is still unsolved, the cops are convinced she should be in jail, and her old lover, the magician Bruno DeLuca, has resurfaced in her life, saying he has something important to tell her.

The vampire attack that transformed Celia kicked her latent Siren abilities into high gear, and now she''s been summoned to the Sirens'' island t...more

The second installment in the Bloodsinger series is no less exciting than the first. Siren song starts just where Blood Song left, in fact the characters are still hung over from the party at the end of Blood Song. I really like sitting inside Celia’s head. This is definitely an urban fantasy in that the romance elements are very much below the surface. There is a great twist at the end of this story that does involve the romance, but it is more of a set up for the next book.

The duo of Cat Adams...more

I picked this up at the bookshelf at the Goodwill so I didn't realize that this was book 2 of a series. It was entertaining enough and definitely very readable on its own. Not your typical vampire story of stakes, garlic and coffins. Celia is a bad ass body guard before she got bit. (view spoiler)[ Her dead best friend was a clairvoyant and is now a ghost. Her sister's ghost also hangs around and helps out. Her ex-boyfriend is a powerful magician. Oh and Celia is part siren and not just any sire...more
