YOUR DAYS AND NIGHTS WILL BELONG TO ME

For summers Miranda Albright has watched—aghast, yet shamefully titillated—as her wicked neighbor Ethan Hamon, the notorious Earl of Rothschild, "entertained" a succession of lovers on the grounds of his estate. Now that her father has passed on, leaving behind a mountain of debt, Miranda must do the unthinkable. For Ethan has promise...more

To say I enjoyed Everything Forbidden is an understatement! Not only was this book an erotic historical romance with an abundance of steamy, provocative, and erotic love scenes, but it also contained a hero and heroine who were wonderfully developed, intriguing, and full of depth and charm. A rarity for an erotica. While the plot may have taken huge liberties within the book's time frame, was not particularly original, and bit clichéd–th...more

Everything Forbidden is not a terribly creative storyline, but that’s ok because the author made it work by giving us characters we could care about and believe in.

Her father having passed away and leaving the family in a precarious financial situation has made it difficult for the oldest daughter, Morgan Albright, to run the household and make ends meet. With a mother who seems to think money grows on trees, the family is quickly being sent to the poor house. In order to provide the needed fun...more

I think it's important to go into this book with no expectations and with the understanding that it's historical erotica. In saying that, while there were sex scenes aplenty (compared to other HR's), they weren't overly gratuitous or overbearing. It was quite deliciously done and SUCH a refreshing change to the average HR mating dance.

The sexual overtone didn't take anything away from the story in my opinion. While it wasn't as detailed or fleshed out as your average HR plotline, it made...more

The theme of “older, experienced man schools the innocent young virgin in the ways of the flesh” is a favorite indulgence of mine. No matter how many times I read this particular trope, it never gets old.

What made this story different was that this virgin, while inexperienced, is anything but naive about what goes on between a man and a woman, thanks to her wicked next door neighbor and his exhibitionist ways. So when Miranda Albright’s family is in need of a benefactor, she boldly propositions...more

Loved it! Wow - Albright really writes some amazing sex scenes - especially considering they were pretty vanilla. The plot isn't my favorite - two people engaging in something they expect to be temporary - but I really liked the characters, especially sweet Miranda and utterly dark & sexy Ethan.

4.5 stars. I took it off of the BDSM shelf. Although there is low end discussion about domination and submission within the context of the sexual relationship, it's very vanilla. Very steamy but otherwise light and fluffy historical romance. It is what I am coming to think of as typical of Jess Michaels fare, that is to say light but entertaining. Heavy on the erotic, light on the historically practical, thought-not-necessary consumption. In short, it's a fun read with a feel good ending that ha...more

I loved this book! I have never read anything before by Jess Michaels (pen name for Jenna Peterson), but I will definitely read more. Especially since this is book one of a series, The Albright Sisters.

Miranda Albright, a young girl, and oldest daughter living in the country in England is the voice of reason for her mother and younger sisters. After their father died leaving them penniless, Miranda took upon the responsibility of making sure her family was neve...more

Hello, hotness.

While I would recommended this book to just about any woman, desperate housewife or no, I would not recommend reading this book on the subway, on a bus, on a place (well, maybe on a plane), or anywhere else that wasn't within a few steps of a very private space.

If you know what I mean.

Miranda Albright has a secret. Okay, so she has a few of them. First off, when her father died, and gambling debts came due, the family now has very little money to live on. If they don't pinch every penny, they will be in the poorhouse before long. They don't even have enough for her sisters to have the proper Season. Their mother, however, doesn't want to talk about finances and absolutely insists on the best Seasons for them all. Secondly, Miranda has spent the last few summers spying on her...more

I trudged through EVERYTHING FORBIDDEN - it's not that good, but no wallbanger either. It's an erotic romance, so it should come as no surprise that the book is really just a series of sex scenes tied together with a thin plot and a mildly convincing 19th century setting.

The biggest problem for me is how one-dimensional the characters are. Miranda and Ethan are sensual people, and they like having sex with one another. That's great, but it's not enough to create the cocktail of intense, conflic...more

This is the first Jess Michaels book that i've read and so far i found it enjoyable. But unfortunately, it didn't really reach high enough to wow me. While the romantic interludes we're scorching hot and abundant, the plot was left too little to be desired. Well, i guess its understandable since its suppose to be an erotic story but i really was hoping for a longer and more developed plot. But still, i think the ending was wrapped up quite good so don't let my personal preference stop you from g...more

This book was good, I would have given it more stars if it wasn't for Miranda's terrible family. Her mother is such a bitch, I wanted to slap her so many times. Her sister Beatrice was a spoilt little brat who 'expected' the best dresses and her own maid even though they could barely afford food. But what annoyed me the most was her sister Penelope, she was her best friend and the one person who never judged her. Then she found out about her deal with Lord Rothschild and completely turn...more

Sorelle Albright 1 - Prima trappola x nobili

Well, this was a very pleasant surprise! I expected to enjoy the read, but I ended up LOVING it! I've always wondered why the steam factor in historical romance is so much less than any other form of romance. Is the author trying to remain true to historical accuracy? Or is it the that the loyal HR fans may be too shocked by more explicit sex scenes? In any case, I had heard that this is an erotic historical romance, and it came recommended.

While the sex WAS more erotic than most HR, I can't re...more

There are a couple of cliches in this novel which I'll mention now. The heroine's father was a gambler and spendthrift leaving the family near penniless. The hero doesn't want to marry because his father philandering ways led to his mother's drinking, depression, and decline.

Three years ago, Miranda Albright stumbled upon an erotic encounter between her neighbor Ethan Hamon, the notorious Earl of Rothschild, with his summer lover. She continued to spy on him and his different lovers every summe...more

This is a solid 4.5 stars for me. Miranda Albright must do something to keep her family from ruin when the death of her father leaves she and her mother and 3 sisters nearly destitute. She comes up with a plan to get her handsome roguish neighbor to help her give her sisters "seasons" so they can find husbands. This entails making herself available to his every whim for a specified period of time. I thought Miranda was an excellent HR heroine. Willing to sacrifice everything to help her mostly u...more

This was a great short story. I say short because it was about a 100 pages less than the average book, which I was sort of disappointed with, but then on the other hand, its a good thing. Sometimes you just don't need all that extra filler. However, I did wish that the love in this story had been explored more. It sort of felt like this is the direction the story needs to go in, so we'll throw it in there in the end with this grand gesture. There were moments with Ethan that showed he was going...more

Meh.

Definitely better developed than most erotica, but much less engaging and erotic than a really well written historical romance. The chair scene in Untie My Heart? The alley in The Proposition? Just about all of The Raven Prince? Double the character development, and double the sensual impact.

“Good morning,” he drawled. She straightened her shoulders with the silent reminder that she had to be as distant as he was. “My lord.” He gave her an indulgent smirk. “As much as I like to be referred to as your lord, I think we’ve gone far beyond those empty platitudes. You have called me Ethan several times.” He hesitated and tapped his chin. “Actually you moaned it once. I prefer you call me that while we are alone together.” 15 people liked it
“She’s having a party, you
know. This coming week.”
He took a sip of wine. “I know. I received an invitation this morning before you arrived.
According to her flowing prose, I am to be the guest of honor.” He shuddered.
Miranda couldn’t help but laugh. “Yes, my mother is quite taken with you now that you’re assisting us financially. I’m sure she’ll fawn over you all evening.”
He downed the remainder of his wine in one swig. “Dear God, now I wish I hadn’t accepted the invitation.”
She giggled at his twisted, pained expression. “Oh, of course you must come. Drink the wine, appreciate the orchestra. After all, you’re paying for it.”
Ethan’s expression went from a playfully pained one to a truly pained one for a brief instant. His frown drew down and he looked at her evenly.
“No, Miranda. I believe it is you who are paying,” he said softly.”
