Recommends it for: Mailer fans more than Miller fans

It's no secret that Norman Mailer loves to write, and he probably loves to love that he writes, and lucky for us he's good at it, and his interests and topics are diverse, and he stabbed his second wife with a penknife, soooooo...there's intrigue.

This journey through Henry Miller's work by Mailer not as daunting or obsessive as the 400 plus pages would have you believe as half of the book is straight text from Miller's books (Tropics of Cancer and Capricorn, Sexus, Nexus, Lexus(?), Air-Condition...more

Norman Kingsley Mailer was an American novelist, journalist, essayist, poet, playwright, screenwriter, and film director.

Along with Truman Capote, Joan Didion, and Tom Wolfe, Mailer is considered an innovator of creative nonfiction, a genre sometimes called New Journalism, but which covers the essay to the nonfiction novel. He was awarded the Pulitzer Prize twice and the National Book Award once....more
