I loved this as much as the first one, Deep in the Valley. I got to find out more about the residents of Grace Valley. These people are becoming old friends to me and I love following their lives. Aunt Myrna again provides more humor, Chris and his sons move to town and boy are they a bunch of turds, John and Susan weather a rough spot in their marriage and of course June is there for it all. I'm going straight on to the last part of the trilogy, Down by the River because these people touch me s...more

Just Over the Mountain is Book 2 in Robyn Carr’s Grace Valley trilogy. In this continuation of Deep in the Valley, we see more of the original characters and find them in new and challenging positions.

Dr. June Hudson finds herself falling for DEA agent Jim Post whose visits are sporadic and clandestine, yet passionate. At the same time she fends off advances from former beau Chris who has returned to Grace Valley with two wayward teenage sons. Her nurse Charlotte has a heart attack and is forced...more

Here in this peaceful community, folks look out for one another like family, though sometimes a little too well. In a town like this, it's hard to keep a secret -- though Dr. June Hudson has managed to keep one heck of a humdinger . . .

Though visits from her secret lover, undercover DEA agent Jim Post, are as clandestine as they are passionate, somehow it fits with her demanding schedule as the town's doctor -- a calling that requires an innate ability to exist on caffeine, sticks buns and nerv...more

LOVE! A 4 letter word completely expressing my feelings about Just Over the Mountain. Robyn Carr has once again brought us to Grace Valley and to the wonderful if not odd people that create the town.

Leading our journey through Grace Valley is Dr. June Hudson. She is still maintaining her secret relationship with a certain undercover DEA agent when out of the blue, her high school sweetheart shows up after years away. Some flirting and a stolen kiss can confuse even the most put together woman....more

This book is great fun. For some reason it reminds me a little of the Lily Bard series by Charlaine Harris. Not that they are that much a like but it is the way that Jim isn't around all that much so the story is mostly about June and how June functions as an independent woman in her little tiny tiny town. This is book isn't just about courtship and romance but it's about June, her life, and the community she's apart of. I like that. I like books about different people's lifestyles. But I also l...more

The second sequence of "Deep in the Valley" was mind-blowing with all those scrutinized details about raiding of DEA agents, mountain people, human bones in Aunt Myrna house etc and also the last part of story was shedding the secret of love between June and Jim. I liked that minor mystery between these two characters and those sneaking parts. In fact, some parts of book was a kind of fishy or it seems to be fishy in my opinion. Anyway, I still have to get used to it to be able to read this book...more

In the continuing story we are introduced to an old love interest of the young doctor's and her new love interest in still growing. Also there's questions about the new doctor she has hired to work with her; but just who is telling the truth. Lots going on in the storyline. There are two youthful but mischevious boys belonging to the old love interest. The undercover cop is still undercover but across the country. The townspeople are still very involved. Once again while some things are resolved...more

I liked this 2nd book of the Grace Valley Trilogy. The book delves more into the lives of the inhabitants of Grace Valley. There were some challenges for most of the characters, but all in all everything worked out for the best with most of them. There were some new characters introduced into the story that weren't in the first book. I am glad I kept my list of characters and a little bit about them for this book. I still found myself referring back to the list to remember who was who. On to the...more

Robyn Carr is a master at telling these small-town people stories. Despite the lack of a solid romance I was sucked into the story and the people. This is the kind of series you'd love to be reading in front of a warm fire on a cold winter night.

Series Note:
This series MUST be read in order.

Summary:
Just as local town doctor June Hudson is settling into the idea of being in love with an undercover DEA agent, her old high school flame, Chris, comes blowing back into down, newly divorced with twin...more

4.5 stars. I loved the characters, setting and the fast pace of the story. Can't wait to read the next book. If you haven't read Robin Carr's books start with this series. A few of the characters make appearances in some of the Virgin River series books. I listened to the audio (whispersync via Audible.com) as well as read the Kindle edition. So I was able to read while on the treadmill and then listen while walking the dog :) Therese Plummer did a fantastic job with the narration - all of the c...more

Book 2 in the Grace Valley trilogy. June's lover Jim is sent away on a new mission, and her high school boyfriend Chris chooses this time to come back to Grace Valley. What did she ever see in him? June wonders, but the the whole town including Chris seems intent on pushing them back together. Between Chris's twin teenaged sons and the mystery of June's Aunt Myrna's missing husband, June has plenty of distraction from missing Jim.

I really loved this book. I'm getting more used to the name throwing and different chars, so it was more fluent for me and i was able to keep better up, which in turn gave me a greater reading experience thus the 5 stars review. I like reading about June and her neighbors in Grace Valley and i can't wait to read the last book and see what happens now that it seems Jim are back for good.

So I read the third book before reading this one, didn't realize it at the time. I liked the first and third book more than this one... I felt like this book was really just about getting to know the characters better for the third book. The family, community theme is still there which was nice but I would have preferred a little more story.
Dawn ♥ romance
Very much a continuation of the first book in the series centering around Dr June with a bit of her romance with undercover DEA agent Jim and a returning high school boyfriend newly divorced. But more so it's an absorbing story about the people of Grave Valley ... Aunt Mynra, Dr John, Cheif Toopeek, Clarence & Jurea, Daniel & Blythe, Birdie, etc

I really liked this one much better than the last, but then again I knew more what I was going to get this time around.

I really do love all the quirky townspeople, although there is no way in hell that I would be able to live in a town where people are so nosy (for the most part meant to be good). I realize that people do mean well, but most of the people use this for entertainment.

This book even had me tearing up in a couple of spots. Characters I had come to really like made some really stupid...more

I really enjoy this type of book about small towns with a little bit of mystery, as well as romance and all the different types of people with their problems. Everyone seems to want to help each other. It is just very pleasant and relaxing to read between the more intense novels.

I love Robyn Carr but for some reason this book dragged for me. I am feeling like the Grace Valley Series could be condensed into one book. In the Virgin River Series each book is about a different couple and this is the 2nd book about the same couple.

This is the second of the series and I can't wait to read the third. I am loving the characters and where they are going. There was one unpredictable story line that surprised me. It was something I hadn't expected and was a wonderful change.

As with most Carr books, things are set up a bit for you, but she truly delivers again in this book. I loved everything about it. The characters are so endearing and I love where the storyline went. (view spoiler)[I love, love, love, that Jim came back to Judy and he doesn't seem to mind she is pregnant. Chris was so obtuse, I wanted to smack him. I had a feeling that as soon as the car was stolen, something was going to happen. (hide spoiler)]

I could go on an on about this book, but suffice it...more

Excelente libro!!! Me encantó. Todas las historias que se entretejen en el pueblo de Grace Valley donde se desarrolla la historia del libro me atraparon, me hicieron reir, llorar y emocionarme. Recomiendo este libro.

Robyn Carr is one of my favorite authors. I thought, I had read all of her books, but missed the Grace Valley Trilogy. I really enjoyed this book. Small town, romance, is there anything better.!!!!!!!!!

Dr. June Hudson and her Grace Valley neighbors are an interesting lot. Their secrets, problems and eccentricties and yet their feeling of family, makes for an enjoyable read. Loved Aunt Myrna.
Autumn
the continuing saga of June the small town doctor and all the interesting people in her town of Grace Valley, California. I stayed up way too late reading, just couldnt put it down.

Another fun story in the series. Its exciting to learn about the little adventures of a small town doctor. It has caused me to want to live in a small village and work in a small clinic too.

I enjoyed this book a lot more than the first book in this series. I think I got to know the characters a lot more. There were some sad parts in the book but also some happy times. There is a big surprise in this installment of the series and I am very happy with it. I can't wait to see what happens next. I loved how John and Susan and Mike and Julianna had their little tiff and how it played out in the book. There were also some new townspeople introduced. I did not care for Chris and his boys...more

Good continuation of the Grace Valley Trilogy. NOW, to find a copy of the third -- it's on back-order at the local bookstore, and not to be found at the used bookstore.

This book was a little short on the development of the romance. I was a little disappointed. We really didn't learn anything about the character of the male half of the couple.

3.5 stars

Enjoyed more than book 1 in the Grace Valley trilogy but not nearly as much as the Virgin River books. I have high hopes for book 3.
