Dorothee Lang's in transit uses sense as sonar, bouncing waves off the natural and manmade world to image the fluidity of our existence. Like Dogen's Moon in a Dewdrop, in transit quietly feasts on the beauty of minutiae, showing time and again that what often goes unnoticed represents a microcosm, a history, an indelible connectedness that deserves our attention. I highly recommend this book.
Dorothee Lang has an amazing ability to take people with her when she travels, even when that travel has already taken place. This collection left enough space between the lines for me to experience the sights in my own way, to think my own way about them. I also found the pieces that dealt with pre- and post-wall Berlin fascinating because I had never read any accounts of it from a German perspective before.
