This book's subtitle was 'A Tale of the Civil War' and I thought that it was about the War Between the States, but it was set during the Cromwell Uprising! It was interesting to find myself in the 1600s instead of the 1800s. This book had a great ammount of tension and depth for a children's book.

I read this right after finishing Edward Rutherford's New York. It was a good combination, as it showed a part of the history of England from a slightly different angle.
I would read more of this author's books.
