Gilson offers an insightful, relevant, and engaging introduction to the philosophy of St. Thomas Aquinas. He does an excellent job of presenting it in a systematic form, a feat that Aquinas himself was, unfortunately, never able to accomplish, that allows the reader to understand, appreciate, and evaluate. Étienne Gilson (13 June 1884 - 19 September 1978) was a French Thomistic philosopher and historian of philosophy. In 1946 he attained the distinction of being elected an "Immortal" (member) of the French Academy.
