The youngest brother stole several scenes...good dialogue. Some parts made me LOL. I felt some of the situations were resolved only to come up again which seems...IDK, a little awkward/weird? Not so much the main mystery, but the who she was going to marry issue. I will probably pick up the Seven Brides series in the furture.

I reviewed this book for Romance Reader At Heart website.

RRAH's THOUGHTS AND PONDERINGS:

First thing that comes to my mind after reading this book is what a lost opportunity to tell a really heartwarming story of two people with the same problem. The heroine was a beauty who would rather be plain, so people would see HER and all that she accomplishes while struggling to keep her family and the ranch together. A hero whose face marks him a beast, but deep down, a very honorable man in a need of

Free Kindle download. It was kind of unfortunate for me to have read this book at the time that I did, so soon after Texas Tender by the same author, the reason being that it has some of the same major elements, the same trope.

We have a heroine whose family ranch is in financial trouble and is coveted by its neighboring ranchers, and we have the all-important bull, which keeps getting lost somehow and in which the heroine's father, who is now dead and gone, has invested a great deal of money in

The storyline seemed interesting, and it was a Kindle limited time freebie, so I decided to try it out. This is actually the first western I've read in about ten years; it's not usually my genre of choice. The book starts off interesting...a scarred war veteran arrives to collect a debt from a ranch owner's daughter. Leigh Greenwood's writing doesn't draw me in though; there's always a part to it that makes it seem staged...particularly the ending chapters which were some of the most patheticly ...more

Emberassed I even read this book. This was not well written and the characters were not developed well. The story line had holes. It was like the author couldn't figure out how to get his charcters out of the hole he dug for them so he makes something up to take away all there problems in one bang! The repetition drove me crazy in the writing. I was lead to belive this was a clean romance novel whitch is why I picked it up but it was not. There was a completely unessasary sex scence towards the ...more

Recommends it for: yes
A really good book by none of my favorite writers.

This book reads really disjointed at times. It's hard to explain, but it gets especially bad in scenes where there is conversation going on between more than two people. Half the time you can't be sure who a character is talking to. It often read like a sentence or piece of description was missing also. This was my second time reading this author and I enjoyed this even less than the first one I tried. The whole story just seemed kinda slapped together.

This was a nice and believable love story. The hero was "imperfect" because of his scars, but he was strong and gentlemanly. The heroine was a strong woman in her own right and the story skipped the petty arguments found in most romance books.

This book was ok. A little too repetitive for my taste, and the heroine, Amanda, was so-so. I liked Broc and the fact he wasn't perfect.
