Something is haunting Megan...

She had seen Scarborough House only in her dreams. Now Megan was here, visiting the grandmother she'd never met, and her newfound cousin Matt, too handsome by far, who wanted her to disappear. Grandmother was so cold, so distant. Why did she finally reach out to Megan after all these years? And why was Matt so determined to call her his "al

This was a brillant book. Lots of twists and turns and mystery. This is the first Elizabeth Chandler book I have read and it won't be the last :)

Megan was invited to her grandmother's house, a person she has never met and a person who has had wanted nothing to do with her until now.
She has had dreams of the house, her grandmother's house, although she has never seen it and when she comes to visit, Megan begins to have more dreams. Then, other strange things begin. Stuff is being misplaced and Megan wants to find out exactly what is going on.

I picked this up from the library and wow, I really liked it. Interesting story, lots of mystery

I loved this book... It was short, and to the point, with a very good plot. A couple twists and turns to keep you interested... with a very nice ending! (I've always been the one for happy endings.. well most of the time)... I love Elizabeth Chandlers writing this is now the second book I've read of hers... along with "Kissed By an Angel" Which was just as good... maybe better. I'm off now to read "Don't tell".. and I believe in a few months "Dark secrets 2" Will be released.. Featuring her two ...more

Megan is invited by her grandmother to the Scarborough house. She is meeting her grandmother for the very first time. Her grandmother never wanted to do anything with her, untill now.
Almost everything is shrouded in mystery; Why Helen, her grandmother, wants to meet her now though she doesn't seem to be a very warm person, why her cousin Matt doesn't seem to know how to treat her,why the people are telling strange little stories about the house, why Megan used to see this house in her dreams even before

3.5 me gusto pero no se la historia va muy rápido tal vez o se me hace muy sacado de la nada todo

Love the heroine! She's so fierce and straight-forward :D it's nice to meet such a head strong girl who doesn't need much help to figure things out. Please don't misunderstand, Megan is a nice and sweet girl, but she knows how to toughen herself when needed.

The true is that I'm getting tired of silly heroine who's scared to speak her mind and doesn't stand up for herself... Megan, she knows how to speak up to bullies, knows when to give her respect when the same is given, and especially, she do

Megan is just like any other girl; she goes to school, is boy crazy, and loves her family. The only difference is that she sees crazy things in her dreams, that she has ever seen before. She didn't quite know this until the day she arrived at her Grandmother's house, on a strange visit. Megan's Grandmother has pretty much disowned her since she was adopted and rarely, rarely sees her, let alone is invited to her house for a weeks stay. From the moment Megan stepped into her Grandmother's wide an ...more

Beginning was promising, ending - not quite satisfied with it.
The weird history between grandmother, her grandson, and ex-husband; the coincidence of being adopted in that exact family; main character's "special" looks, and "the trip" in which she met the "old friends" made me lose credibility.
Also, I'm not a fan of supernatural but I ignored that fact while reading.
Despite that, I liked it. This story has many good twists and turns which I enjoyed. It's unique. A quick reading. I wanted for it

This was the first Elizabeth Chandler book I ever read; and I was, of course, hooked after this one.
After reading Legacy of Lies, I quickly continued to read the rest of the Dark Secrets series, and from then on would read anything written by Elizabeth Chandler.
While Legacy of Lies was not my favorite from the Dark Secrets series, It still made its way on to my list of favorites along with the rest of the series. This book is unique and unpredictable- two of the things I loved about it. I was

I first read this book by chance back in the summer of 2004. At the time, I was a teenager working a boring job that consisted of long hours and minimal socializing. I remember being completely enthralled and romanticized by the notion of this captivating story. For years I have referenced its ideal plot twists and fun take on a YA paranormal/thriller. Sometime between 04' and 06' I lost my copy and forgot the title. Since that time I've spent hours roaming the internet typing in what informatio ...more

Legacy of Lies is scaresly a novel - it's lenght felt to me quite like a novella would. This is not nessecerily bad though, because the story was a great deal more than interesting this way and it was not tiring at all - I would happily re-read it. The characters had no exceptionary depth, but this is something easily forgiven as they still held my interest. There were small doses of romance, mystery and paranormal - focusing on the subject of reincarnation.

Elizabeth Chandler redeemed herself in my eyes with this book. The first thing I'd read from her was the "Love Stories" series, and I thought those were blah. I was reluctant to start this one because I feared she would do the same thing she did with those, but as it turned out, this book was pleasantly entertaining.

Her choppy, quick, style of writing is something to get used to, but after ploughing through books filled with descriptive, tedious dialogue, this was a breath of fresh air. I though

I got the joint book where it had Legacy of Lies in it along with Don't Tell and after I read the whole handful of it- it was like I'd entered a plague movement where I just had to read the rest of the Dark Secret novels. And I did. And then I begun to worship the theoretical ground that Elizabeth Chandler walked on.

Legacy of Lies is my favourite out of all the Dark Secret novels, (then No Time to Die, The Back Door of Midnight, Don't Tell, and The Deep End of Fear)

**This is my review of Dark Secrets 1--a bind up of Legacy of Lies and Don't Tell!

http://bookbreather4lyfe.blogspot.com

Both of these books were extremely quick reads. They were fast-paced, mysterious, and actually quite creepy!

Legacy of Lies, the first book in this bind-up, was originally published in 2000, and Don't Tell, the second book, was published in 2001. Keeping that in mind, the writing was different than what I'm used to. However, I will be reviewing it as normal.

Both of the plots we

Review of Don't Tell (Dark Secrets #2)

Legacy of Lies focuses on Megan. She was adopted by her parents and she has younger brothers. Her maternal grandmother, Helen, basically disowned Megan's mom because of the choices she made when she was younger, mainly marrying a black man. Talk about major racism. Helen had very high expectations and Megan's mother disappointed her.

Out of no where, her grandmother invites her to Wisteria and stresses that it is important. Right about this time Megan is havi

I chose to read the novel, “Legacy of Lies” by Elizabeth Chandler for this terms reading assignment. The main character Megan is invited to stay at her grandmother’s house in Maryland. However, her grandmother is bitter towards her, as is her cousin Matt who lives with the grandmother, for a reason unknown to Megan. It is unraveled as the novel progresses that in a past life there was a love triangle between Matt, Megan and the grandmother. Throu

This is a short novel with an interesting subject matter describing how far family secrets will go. We are introduced to the character of Megan who is sent to visit with a Grandmother who made it no secret of her distaste for the adopted relative. Yet at the same time it is the Grandmother who sent for Megan. Megan is introduced to a side of the family she had never known of. She meets her cousin Matt who shares blood ties with the Grandmother and is obviously favored for such. Still yet, Megan ...more

Surprisingly it's not bad. It took me a while to get into the story but it was good.

Megan visits her grandmother in England after some persuasion from her parents. Her grandmother isn't that friendly towards her, neither is her cousin Matt.

Megan has more weird things happening to her since staying at Scarborough manor. She seeks information around town and when she finds out some oddly interesting information, she takes action.

Megan is a smart mouthed girl and I kinda like her for it. She tre
