Reprints Guardians of the Galaxy (2) #20-25 (January 2010-June 2010). The Guardians of the Galaxy cope with the loss of Cosmo, Gamora, Mantis, and Martyr in the battle to stop the Magus, and now face a new threat from the Cancerverse that resides inside of the Fault. Moondragon finds herself impregnated, and the Matriarch wants the child. Also the Guardians find that the Magus might not be dead, but he also could be heralding in a greater threat.

Abnett's space titles really do a great job creati...more

I read this volume after reading War of Kings and the Nova Realm of Kings stories, but before reading the main Realm of Kings collection, and I had no problem enjoying the stories presented. This is an energetic collection of gripping stories that is relatively accessible to new readers (although it certainly rewards long-term fans more). There are a few different stories going on here, as a tragedy at the end of the last volume divided the team into seven members (who struggle on Knowhere in bo...more

The, what felt to me, abbreviated ending is not the fault of writers Abnett and Lanning. With the title's cancellation and being folded into an event that wrapped up one if not two other titles they needed to try to reach some sort of conclusion. While they maintain the self-depreciating humor that has been one of the hallmarks of the title, they find a way to add that oh so familiar villain (in disguise) of Ctuhlhu (which is used in the event wrap of series). For the most part they make me feel...more

Freed from cross-company events, this part of the GotG tale (issues 20-25) does much better. The plotting's complex -- folks who were thought dead aren't, folks who really were dead come back, a couple of folks who should have been left dead aren't -- and loyalties are tested in all directions.

Good, well-written stuff, with decent artwork (varying, without clear credit, between issues). Abnett and Lanning continue to balance personal stories with lots of large, universe-shaking explosions, and j...more

The writers probably knew the series was being cancelled by this point, with only a few issues to go. As a result, some storylines seemed rushed, while others were abandoned altogether. Yet the series had lost so much of its focus that it really didn't seem to matter. Personally, I read through because I knew the series was ending.

My biggest problem with the Guardians of the Galaxy series is that too much attention and story was devoted to the least interesting characters. The more compelling ch...more

Like the rest of the Guardians of the Galaxy series, this collection is really good. Abnett and Lanning shine with Guardians of the Galaxy. And then Nova. But GotG they use just the right amount of humor while maintaining dark story arcs. - this is basically my review of every issue of the short (26ish issues?) series and not just this TPB.

It's sad to know that this is the last installment of this team of Guardians. Great stuff though leading into the Thanos Imperative.

Fantastic! Easily one of the best series I have ever read. Fantastic action with one liners placed just right.

Starting to get a little comic booky, but I still love this series.
