I really was hoping for a good read with this latest EW book.

The love story of Alex and Amelia seemed to take a back seat to the "mystery" of Anna and the family feud between the Hathaway and the St. James families.

The limited amount of time that was devoted to our H and h was enjoyable to read, but I got a bit bored by the secondary characters of Aunt Sophia and Richard and the unraveling of the mystery. It was just not that interestin More...

Ms. Wildes has done a wonderful job of bringing us a story of three best friends, Lord Alexander St. James in “My Lord Scandal”, Luke Daudet, Viscount Altea in “Our Wicked Mistake” and Michael Hepburn, Marquess of Longhaven in “His Sinful Secret”. All three have survived the Napoleonic/Peninsular War and are now trying to get back to the life they were meant to lead. There is plenty of romance, intrigue and mystery in all three stories.

In the first book, “My Lord Scandal”, we meet our More...

Book 1 in the Notorious Bachelors Series

This book was unique. The hero, Lord Alexander St. James, and heroine, Lady Amelia Hathaway, communicated with each other for the entirety of the book. Whenever an obstacle arose to their love, they discussed it. Whenever one was insecure about something, they discussed it. When they fell in love, they didn’t More...

My Lord Scandal: Notorious Bachelors by Emma Wildes
Historical Romance- Sept 7th, 2010
4 stars

This was an enjoyable Regency. The hero was a dashing rake with hidden
depths and the heroine is an angelic beauty with brains and a curious disability.

The story starts out as the dashing Alexander St. James is attempting to steal a key from the Lady Amelia’s townhouse in London. But sudden passion buds when Lady Amelia unexpectedly arrives home early. More...

The title is awful, the novel is excellent. In this first novel of Emma Wildes' Notorious Bachelors trilogy, there's murder, mystery, intrigue, beautifully developed characters, and a story line that will keep you guessing until the end. While Wildes employs some of the traditional tropes of the Regency romance subgenre, she applies and explores them in such ways that they feel fresh and innovative. The book is filled with humor (so much so that I laughed aloud several times) and, joy of joys, More...

The Good: The overall plot, which included a mysterious duel, an adulterous affair and a missing key, was nicely done This alone kept me reading the book to it's conclusion.

The Bad: Every tired, overused, cliched Regency turn of phrase was trotted out in this book. I felt like every other Regency I'd ever read was all mushed into one book.

The Ugly: It became extremely annoying to have everything S-P-E-L-L-E-D out.... and then repeated. This woman's beauty was mentioned b More...

Emma Wildes is fast becoming a favorite author of mine.

I like the fact that her books--at least the three I've read so far--are not extremely angst filled, which is a nice change of pace. I find them quite relaxing. They make me smile...and sometimes laugh out loud.

This book included. I loved the fact that the two lead characters actually communicated with each other the whole way through the book. There was no giant misunderstand between the two that kept them apart or a More...

My Lord Scandal was the perfect non-angsty historical I didn't realize I was craving. And it had a smart heroine. So I have to give kudos to Ms. Wildes because I like her heroines. Think of saucy, take charge Brianna from Secrets from a Scarlet Lady. Amelia Patton wasn't as take charge, but she was direct, didn't act coy and although she knew she shouldn't be attracted to Alex, she just couldn't help herself so she went for it full-throttle. Why couldn't she be with him? Well! Amelia's grandfath More...

Like curling up in a nice soft blanket on a crisp fall day, My Lord Scandal, the first installment of Emma Wilde's Notorious Bachelors series, left me warm, feeling good and ready to cozy up to the upcoming bachelors in the series.

Lady Amelia Patton has arrived in London at her father's request to be presented to society and all the eligible bachelors at "the ton." Used to the easy, carefree country life, Amelia is far from excited about her father's insistence that More...

Claro que a história More...

I became an instant fan of Emma Wildes when I read her Lessons from a Scarlet Lady, loving the freshness of the story. This book isn’t far behind that one, giving us lively and interesting characters, a romance that is a treat for the heart, and a mystery with a twist to cap things off.

I really like the beginning of this book. Alexander has brought along his good friend Michael to break and enter into the home of a nobleman to retrieve something that belongs to Alex’s family, at leas More...

I am officially an Emma Wildes fan. After reading this as well as Lessons From a Scarlet Lady, which I highly recommend, Wildes is a must read for me. The characters were extremely well developed, there was some mystery, a long standing family feud, and a heroine not afraid to be smart as well as a hero who appreciated said smarts. *GASP*

I loved everything about Alex. He has grown up the third son of a duke, and loves it that way. He has no desire to inherit the title, but not becaus More...

I'm going to have to order some more of Emma Wildes' novels because I thoroughly enjoyed this story. Its refreshing to read a romance where the hero and the heroine are honest with each other and don't try to deny or destroy their feelings for each other. You can almost feel the chemistry between Alexander and Amelia and wanted them to find a way to be together despite their families disapproval of each other.
It also kept me interested until the end as to why their families hated each oth More...

I really liked the book but at some points it was a bit slow. I liked both the H&H in this book and the love scenes were on the hot side, that is alway's a plus for me, LOL! The ending had a nice little twist that added to the story. I will be reading the next book, Our Wicked Mistake when it comes out 10/5.

I have to say, I really like this author. Well written and fun to follow along story lines. I did find the plot to be a little confusing at times, but still an enjoyable read. i will definitely read the other two in the series.

I enjoyed the mystery and romance in this story, though I wanted to smack her father. The rest of the series remains strong and the heroes are quite dashing, though the honesty begins to slip.

DNF. Been there, done that story with yet another jaded hero and a virginal ZZZ worthy heroine.

Side Note: This cover must be the blahest cover of the year.
