In the dark, fear and desire are one.

Alexander Roman wants nothing to do with the controlling rulers of his vampire breed or the family he escaped from a hundred years ago. But as a new threat to the pureblood vampires emerges, Alexander's ties to the past are forced upon him again, and without warning, he finds himself— disoriented, terrified, and near death—at the door o...more

Read about 1/3 of it... Not even the pretty cover with Paul could save it.

This book is very, very boring. The author keeps using terms that I still have no idea what they mean, the characters feel flat to me and I don't understand what the hell is happening in this book! I mean the heroine is a psychiatrist or smth that may or may not be able to take memories from people, the hero has gone through a transformation that we don't know why or how it happened, he ends...more

This book took me absolutely forever to finish. Two words describe this book. Boring. Predictable.

The beginning of the book is too confusing. And the writing is sometimes awkward, making it that much harder to read. It felt as if everything was explained to death, boring me to tears.

Also the characters felt very impersonal. I just couldn't connect with anyone. Not even a little. In parts it was so bad, I just didn't care one way or the other about what happened to the characters. The author neve...more

Great start to a sexy new series; Eternal Hunger is definitely a new favorite!

I struggled at the beginning of the novel because everything is thrown at you all at once; new terms, meanings, ect. It would have been a big help if there was a glossary to use as a reference, but after the first few chapters I was able to get the hang of this new world Laura Wright has brilliantly created and the story started to flow for me.

Alexander Roman grabbed me right from the start. He is a sexy alpha male and...more

What a convoluted story! I listened to a couple of hours and could barely follow what's going on. The author tried to introduce new elements to the whole vampire mythology but without explaining what things meant so I was confused by all the Italian terminology.

Worse, the author took coincidences to incredible heights: the bad guy who attacks the heroine ends up joining the villains, while an important girl to the villains' plans is the heroine's patient!!! Prior to the start of the book there'...more

I didn't like this book, in particular, but I do think I might like this series, as a whole. To me, this book was an icebreaker, the introduction to a possibly interesting series.

The Mark of the Vampire series is built around three vampire brothers, rebels within their own society. Things kick off with the eldest of the three, Alexander Roman. Cursed by their father's legacy, the genetics of a breeder male, Alexander faces a transformation that turns a vampire's lust for blood -- and women -- in...more

This is the first book in the Mark of the Vampire series. It features our hero Alexander and our heroine Sarah. Pretty much the blurb above says it all, so I'll just skip to my review.I just finished the book and my immediate thought is, it's eh. Would I recommend it? Maybe. I didn't find much in the story that was unique or different from most other vampire books out there except the authors vampire culture although it's a bit confusing After having just finished reading the book, I could not t...more

If you like a good old fashioned paranormal romance then sink your teeth (sorry, we had to) into this new fab series. As steamy as it is mysterious, the language and sex scenes can be rather choice at times, which seems like a very clever trick to hold or snap back a reader’s attention. The plot is as good as any other in the genre, with multiple storylines happening or budding simultaneously that begin to intertwine with each other.

Alexander is strapping, protective alpha-type example of the ‘p...more

I thought this was a good start to a new series. I kind of give authors some leeway when it's the first book of a series only because I know there's a lot of introductions (new world, characters, etc) involved. Eternal Hunger kept my interest throughout and made me want to read the next book, and in my opinion that means it was a success.

I like Alexander, but part of my issue with the book was that he wasn't as fleshed out as I would've wanted. What happened with him that caused him to be locked...more

Now and then an author will come along to “wow” me with their unique and different take on vampires; especially when I am feeling quite blah on the subject or that vampires are too over-done, too cliché.
Eternal Hunger really ought to have a warning sticker. Warning, reading this book will cause you to neglect housechores, husband, children, pets, and the world as a whole.
Because that is exactly what happened to me, I started EH and next thing I knew my hubby was chewing me out for neglecting...more

I have to start out by saying that I am totally in love with Laura Wright and the new vampire world that she has created. The Roman Brothers are dark, dangerous, secretive, devoted, protective and sexy as hell.
Eternal Hunger is the first book in this series about the Roman Brothers... I feel in love with all of them from the very first page.
Alexander is so dark and tormented by his past, present and his future... He is the head of the family, he has to be the strong one, the brave one, and the...more

I definitely enjoyed this first in a series featuring vampire Alexander Roman's evolving connection with Dr. Sara Donohue. Sara was smart, strong, and able to roll with the punches, and she was immediately likable and sympathetic. Alexander's unique physicality made him especially appealing, as did the interesting powers he had as a "morphed" vampire. The world building in EH was very interesting and spun a different take on vampires' role in the modern world. The sexual tension between the char...more

I liked this book despite the fact that there was very little about the plot that was original. Ms. Wright did a better than fair job of building a world of vamp inequality. About half-way through I discovered that I actually was enjoying the book and no longer rolling my eyes over the many similarities to other vamp series. The saving grace for me was the three female characters -- Sara (the mate), Bronwyn (the almost mate), and Dillion (the angry bodyguard). The brothers, although not original...more

New author, first time out. Okay, I am going to try my darnedest here and practice good manners. I do not wish to be harsh, nevertheless the truth of it is ... Eternal Hunger reads as a “good” proposal to a potential story-line that needs to be fleshed out into three dimensions.

Granted, the Roman Brothers are, at first glance, full of dark, brooding, sexy angst (yes, this sounds like a recipe for success), but with deeper inspection they present as flat two dimensional characters with very littl...more

I am truly debating on using the “Great Read Guarantee” that is mentioned on the cover of this book. The author does an extreme amount of conflict building in this book. The book is in fact over cluttered with conflict. One of the conflicts that was brought into Alexander & Sara’s romance was Bronwyn. She claims to be Alexander’s true mate. She claims to have proof, but won’t share it; everyone just takes her word for it. The way she shows up with this claim leaves me with the feeling that t...more

Eternal Hunger is the first book in the Roman Brothers trilogy by Laura Wright and a Signet Eclipse Paranormal Romance.

Book Blurb:

Alexander Roman wants nothing to do with the controlling rulers of his vampire breed or the family he escaped from a hundred years ago. But as a new threat to the pureblood vampires emerges, Alexander's ties to the past are forced upon him again, and without warning, he finds himself - disoriented, terrified, and near death - at the door of a stranger.

I struggled to pinpoint exactly why I didn't respond well to this book. At first blush, I thought my problems lay with the derivative nature of the worldbuilding but in retrospect I think the real problem was the lack of romance although I did think the worldbuilding was uneven and often silly.

Alexander Roman is the eldest of three vampire brothers created when one of vampire women was forced to lie with a pureblood (be raped by a pureblood vampire or "Breeding Male"). These descendants of a Bre...more

I don't know that Goodreads does 1/2 stars but if it did, I would give this book 4.5 stars!! I really liked this one but I'm not FOR SURE if I'd read it again. Maybe. Probably.

I've never read Laura Wright before. She was on my list of recommendations so I thought I'd give her a shot. Boy, am I glad I did!

Eternal Hunger is a paranormal romance about vampires (aren't they all these days?). One vampire family in particular. Well, brothers, anyways. The Roman brothers are tall, dark, handsome and me...more

Pretty predictable, but still fun.

I will never understand why so many romance authors think this whole instantly falling madly in love without any speed bumps except crossed stars thing works over and over. If the souls involved are so tortured and have such a hard time trusting, as you say, why not have them fight it a little more? Interest, getting to know each other, then trust. And more obstacles in their path to that trust.

Anyway, they're still a nice candy read every once in a while, and...more

I stumbled across this book while visiting a new fellow book blogger’s blog. I read her review and decided I had to read Eternal Hunger.

I enjoy vampy books with the cliché ‘destined human mate’ and the struggle of acceptance and the whole “no no, it can’t be true, vampires don’t exist, you’re not real, blah blah blah”. Eternal Hunger has that part in it, but I feel that Sara (human mate) accepted it too fast – any sane person would put up more of a fight, I mean, he’s a vampire, hellooo – grab y...more

Eternal Hunger is a great start to a new vampire series called Mark of the Vampire.

The series is about the three Roman brothers who belong to a race of pureblood vampires living and hiding in the human world. They left their life of vampires whose class structure left them with less than a wonderful childhood.

This book focuses on Alexander, the oldest brother. He is rescued by a doctor when he goes through the "change" earlier than expected. The change was brought on by elders who want him to he...more

I just finished reading this book, and while some plot points appeared obvious and some readers may consider this a simple retelling of the Feehan Carpathian novels, Ms. Wright did create a new twist on the very oft-told tale of vampires, humans, and soul mates. While I personally hoped for a bit more back story, the author added just enough insights to make her world understandable. Two things really bugged me--comparing eyes to wine and blueberries. Often. And the use of the *C* word to descri...more

This was a good read. I'm going to read Eternal Kiss next week and am looking forward to Eternal Captive (Lucian's book ;) - he's one bad ass).
Laura has created a little different vampire world than I'm used to and I am still trying to figure it all out. I think she's left out certain things concerning the "why's" that will become known in the follow up books. This is a great strategy. I like the ideas she's put out here so far though. She set's us up with the naughty off on a rampage vampire (A...more

In Eternal Hunger we are introduced to brothers Alexander, Lucian & Nicholas. This story focuses on Alexander, the eldest of the three as he reaches his vampire maturity 100yrs early and he struggles to understand why. Along the way we meet Sara, a psychiatrist who's life work is to discover how to heal the psychological trauma her brother suffered after being caught in a fire that killed their father.
There are two types of Vampires in this world, the pure (Alexander) and the impure (who are...more

I thought this book was a great start in this new series. I loved Alexander and Sarah's relationship. I liked how the author built their relationship and I also liked the surrounding characters which were Alexander's brothers. There are parts of the book that I did not like. 1. Sarah's endless attempts to save her brother from his PTSD. The obsession of it grew tiresome for me. 2. There was a part where a character named Bronwyn who was introduced as claiming to be Alexander's true mate. I felt...more

Received an ARC as part of the Early Reviewers program on LibraryThing.com.

This book wasn't bad, but I didn't love it, either. I'll admit I'm a little burned out on paranormal romance, and maybe it takes more to catch my interest. I had trouble feeling the connection between the hero & heroine. Maybe because this was the first book in the series, the necessary world building got in the way. I think some of my favorite romances make me feel strong emotions - smoking sexy heat and delicious te...more

The author seemed to be going for her version or knockoff of the 'Black Dagger Brotherhood' but fell flat in the character development and chemistry. I'm just about to give up on the mainstream adult paranormal romance. The whole appeal is supposed to be the frightening aspect of their urge to kill but it's rare that any vampires in romance actually drink any fucking blood! At least not on a regular basis. Also the whole terminology for the different levels of vampires is so tiresome now. Can't...more

There were occasions when this really didn't impress. It launches you into the story without too much preamble (I actually thought I was reading book 2 in the series at first). Alexander Roman has broken somewhat from the Vampire council and they decide to bring him under their heel by invoking the change that makes him vulnerable to sunshine. They want him to hunt down someone who is preying on the vampire communities.

Dr Sara Donohue is working at helping people with traumatic pasts. Her main...more

Eternal Hunger is by first time author Laura Wright. It begins with Alexander Roman, the eldest of three vampire brothers. Alexander lived under a dictatorship within his vampire community, despised by his Mother because she was forced to lie with a Pureblood to continue the pure vampire lineage. Alexander escapes the community with his three brothers to live free of their rules. However, as a descendant of a Breeding Male, in his third century of living, he will undergo morpho – where he is for...more

I'm not really sure why this book only has the rating that it has. Maybe it's just me and the fact that I haven't read a book that I really got into in a while but this one is a five star for me.

I could not put this book down. I started reading it this evening after dinner and here it is 3am, I have to work tomorrow and I have just finished this book!

At first I was kind of iffy maybe the first three pages or so but then I pretty much became hooked. There were moments when I was like WHAT, NO, W...more

“Sara lay back on the cold rock floor and beckoned for him."I'll stay in here until you're starving," she said passionately,"until you understand you can trust me,that I give to you unconditionally, out of the purest love.I'll stay here until this cage becomes a place of peace,of pleasure-not torment."Her eyebrow lifted."I will stay in here until you can't resist me.” 10 people liked it
“Yes,love."He leaned down, his hands splayed on her ankles,up he raked to her knees, her inner thighs until he had her legs spread so wide her cunt wept for him."You in me and me in you.For hours, forever."
